Does Liberals new plan do more to approve -- or BLOCK -- pipeline projects?

Brian LilleyArchive

So the Liberals have come up with a new plan for approving – or blocking as the case may be – projects such as pipelines.

The new plan was revealed with much fanfare but few details though we now know it includes increased community consultations, increased participation for aboriginal or indigenous groups and greenhouse gas emissions from the project will be considered.

The Liberals say that this isn't about blocking projects and they’re committed to getting Canada's natural resources to market but facts and actions don't back that up.

Recall Trudeau’s ministerial mandate letters and how he essentially ordered his natural resources minister to act on climate change first, making it clear he thinks the oil industry is a problem for climate change.

We've told you before about Trudeau's top advisor Gerald Butts who said he didn't want a different route for pipelines, he wanted no pipelines. He wanted a zero carbon economy.

So two senior, important staffers, people who advise the government at the highest level want no pipelines, no energy industry and no pipelines and the Liberals deny they’re against the industry.

This government cares not a wit for Canada's energy industry. The new measures apply to Canadian oil projects but not to imported oil.

How many jobs have been lost in the oil industry since Trudeau came to power? Thousands, with no acknowledgment.

He tweeted his support for 90 job losses at Postmedia, but the oil industry doesn't rate a tweet of support. All it gets is more roadblocks to development.

Everything on this planet is composed of carbon. So Justin is going to over-regulate all of our natural resources including humans, animals, diamonds, trees, plants, oil, gas, solar panels, windmills, rocks, etc. Sunny ways have turned into funny ways as you just have to laugh at the arrogance and incompetence of this new regime. I would like to think this bunch of misfits can’t totally screw up our country in four years, but I’m not hopeful.

William Clark, well said. They must think the ball of fire 93 million miles away will change it’s activities that affect our climate by sending money somewhere. Further to that, you could take all the world’s efforts to lower emissions over a period of ten years, all that money spent, trillions and trillions, and have any imaginary reductions wiped out by just one volcanic eruption anywhere on earth; just one eruption. I guess they figure money will stop volcanic eruptions.

Sam, you just pointed to yourself because you too depend on the oil industry. You are a consumer of petroleum products everyday, thousands of them, your computer for starters, textiles, your heat, your vehicle, etc. You do so well at pointing out what you and the protesters of the world so eloquently define, you are a hypocrite.

you nailed it Roy, follow the money. stupid people jump on the environmental band wagon, this country is full of sheep, they can’t think for themselves. The big bad oil is the root of all evil, bull shit. The world climate has changed for billions of years and will continue to do so no matter what humans do. There are some very rich people thanks to people believing in the climate scare

it’s not just the politicians that have to go. the worthless wads that voted to condone this behavior must also go. sorry goofs… just walk into the light…

The Liberal goal is to delay and obfuscate. Regardless how much time is taken to conduct the reviews or who is involved, the results will be that First Nations and Environmentalists oppose the pipelines. Since both groups are Liberal supporters the results are totally predictable. Nothing will be approved and the entire process will be stretched out past the next election. In time the pipeline companies will abandon their efforts.

I am so very, very tired and fed up of this green environmental crap, all lies, bs, and money grabbing for a few bastards who are putting this country in the ground. Please wake Canadians, you are being lied to, and stolen from and still people are stupid to believe them. Don’t believe a word out of these left winged nuts, they are out to line their pockets, steal from us all and make us do without while they live in the lap of luxury and laugh at us at the same time. They only care about money and having absolute power over us.

I am really starting to hate this country. I never would have thought it, but I am thinking it more and more.

I can spot Irrationalist a mile away.
They are ideologues at the core.
Their word choice is carefully crafted to support their predetermined belief system; which they dare not say directly, because they’ll be exposed as bat-shit insane.

The Fiberals are doing a balancing act.
On one had they want to maintain the confidence of the populace;
But on the other hand they foist upon the people their personal core belief; in this case being their Utopian dream world; a zero-pollution earth where everything is green and natural and in blissful harmony.

And as a bonus, they want to be the ones who were the enablers of it and take the credit for it, win green awards, and have a legacy of saving a world that was spinning out of control into destruction.

These doe-eyed Irrationals are the true enemy of the state;
because they will run never-ending deficits, attempting to achieve this dream society.
Look at Ontario as a case in point.

The liberals are crony capitalists, and will line their own pockets, and the pockets of their friends. They haven’t a loyal bone in their greedy little bodies, and think nothing about those whose lives they destroy. They tell tall tales, and expect that normal rational people are just going to play along, like they want them to. It’s truly insulting and degrading for politicians to behave that way. I’m glad that I grew up when Canada was normal, and all things that you heard about us was true. It’s no longer true, our country has been hijacked by evil, so everybody hold on to those you love, because you really never know when it will be your last day on earth now. We are living in dangerous times!

Day after day here at the rebel, I hear nothing but these horror stories, especially for those that depend on the oil industry. It really makes me wonder what people are going to do to stop the stupid governments from ruining things. Anybody have a better idea than buying radio ads to make the montreal mayor look stupid?

I think appointing anyone to a position that is associated with another governing body like the UN is wrong.Their interests will always be divided.It would be like one lawyer representing both clients.It doesn’t work.If they want a zero carbon goal,they shouldn’t be allowed to export coal either.Kind of hypocritical don’t you think.So instead of letting us use it for cheaper energy costs,they want to double the export of the stuff so others can save on fuel costs,take the revenue from that and make us pay even more tax and higher energy costs.I wonder how they are going to squander my money.My guess, the big push is coming from the UN looking for a cash grab.Obama has to pay for his new house in the UAE some how.If you didn’t know,he is wanting the position as Secretary General of the UN.The UN wants to create destabilization, to justify their position in this world.

Gerald Butts’ last name fits him to a tee. The lib & NDP gov’t, the whole kit & kaboodle bunch are ALL AGAINST OIL & GAS & everytime it looks like the pipelines might go through, they throw another wrench in it….more reviews……..more regulations…..more consultations….more, more, more. They can’t mention the words oil & gas without sticking greenhouse emissions in that sentence. They will block & delay & get the oil companies to spend more money, more time, etc only to tell them “NO” & that is my prediction that as long as Trudeau & the Libs are running things it will never pass & they are toying with people’s lives. What a shame & all because of some cocamamy, made up, false, unproved, unsettled scare tactic mostly by Gore that the sky is falling if we don’t do something about CO2 & the only proven fact about all this is that Gore is now a multi millionaire. They will all be dead & buried decades before the temperature increases by 1 or 2 degrees (which is not a given) & in the meantime, some people’s lives have been turned upside down.

With Trudeau’s top advisor Gerald Butts pulling the strings, the answer to Brian’s question is relatively easy: nothing but roadblocks .
