Doug Ford Rally for a Stronger Ontario: “He’s got the mass of the people behind him”

David MenziesMission Specialist

Ford Nation digs Doug.

An estimated 1,500 people flocked to the Toronto Congress Centre to attend the Doug Ford Rally for a Stronger Ontario as Ford seeks to become the new leader of the beleaguered PC Party of Ontario.

And they liked what they heard, including Ford’s promise that he’s dead set against a carbon tax.

“I would vote for him over any of the women in the race, because I think he will be effective. "

Well, he would no doubt be more effective than them. But that isn’t a lot of praise.

Over the years I have learned to pick out the evasions and escape routes that are built into the speech of most politicians. For example, the recently-departed Paddy Brown gave this answer to a CFRA radio host when asked if he would cancel wind and solar power contracts: “We are certainly prepared to look at these contracts, and if, on the advice of our Party, it looked like it was necessary and possible, it is certainly something we might consider.” There are more potential exits in this sentence than on a soccer field.

The sad thing is, the public and most of the press is content to accept responses like this as answers – but they are not answers, they are just replies. There are only two real answers to that question: yes, or no.

I am making a bet that, like Hudak, like Tory, all of the present candidates will avoid any mention of the crushing public debt. And I’m betting that no one from our pathetic press will be pressing them. Ford will need a hell of a lot more in his miracle bag than his “2 percent efficiencies” to fix this province.

I’m a cynic because I’ve heard it all before. It’s my default position and it should be everyone’s default position on ALL politicians. Better to shake the pom-poms AFTER they’ve accomplished something.

JAMES MACMASTER I absolutely agree with this,
“We have industries shutting down in Ontario for two reasons: they can’t afford to keep up with the regulatory onslaught; and they cant afford the energy costs. Both reasons are directly tied to (a) too much government, and/or (b) insane hydro rates and environmental regulations that are constructed on the apparently pending (and perhaps even imminent) Climate/Change-AGW apocalypse. "

…….and I think Ford is pretty clear on all points. I have more faith in Ford than you do.

‘Absolutely not a denier’ doesn’t mean he believes in anthropogenic climate change, or writing policy around it. He said it was an economy killer. We’ll see what he means about cleaning house, but to me that and taking care of inefficiencies sounds like leaner more effective government to me.

I like him , you don’t. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if he gets in and if he does, what he can do. I would vote for him over any of the women in the race, because I think he will be effective.

Oh Liza, you are so delusional.

It’s almost sad how much of a sucker you are. It’s like you have been brainwashed in some cult and I hope someone rescues you.

“James Macmaster his exact words after he said NO carbon tax, were “I’m not a denier”.

Not quite, LISA.

RICHARDSON: What about Climate Change? You believe in it?

FORD: Oh, Absolutely! I’m not a denier.

And I know all about Hudak hanging himself. Here’s what he should have said: “Hiring freeze.”

We have industries shutting down in Ontario for two reasons: they can’t afford to keep up with the regulatory onslaught; and they cant afford the energy costs. Both reasons are directly tied to (a) too much government, and/or (b) insane hydro rates and environmental regulations that are constructed on the apparently pending (and perhaps even imminent) Climate/Change-AGW apocalypse. And yet we another Premier wannabe who, when you boil things down, really doesn’t sound like he’s going to do much about these two economy-killers.

Is he better than Wynne? A dead skunk is better than Wynne. But I’ve been around long enough to recognize that there is precious little beef in Ford’s burger.

Like Doug says, politics is a blood sport, and he knows how to play it. The difference is he plays fair. There is no way he would go back on his word. He is one of those guys who live by, ‘my word is my bond’. It matters to him.

James Macmaster his exact words after he said NO carbon tax, were “I’m not a denier”.

I’m not either, most people know climate changes, and if there is any anthropogenic influence it is minuscule and insignificant. Doug said, “it is a job killer.”

Regarding smaller public service. Rob was the same. He didn’t like to lay people off. The Fords are businessmen, They go after efficiencies. Doug said he is cleaning out the swamp, and stopping all the back room dealings. He also knows how to deal with unions and it’s not a bad idea to have that vote. Look what happened to Hudak when he said he was laying off masses of public service workers.

The Fords know how to run a business and they knew how to run a city. I have no doubt whatsoever, that Doug Ford can successfully run a province. In fact I would wager that Ontario will look completely different in as much as a year of his leadership. The old Ontario, the manufacturing hub , companies coming back because of business freedom not because of subsidies and incentives which produce artificial results. When that happens I am going back to my birth province to shake Doug Ford’s hand.
I have been a westerner for over 30 years and have no intention of moving east, but I will shake the man’s hand when he brings back a healthy Ontario. I look forward to the visit.

It really is amazing how clueless people here are about Doug Ford. They see some sort of savior, confuse him with Rob Ford and ignore his background.
commented 2018-02-10 04:24:09 -0500
Now that Doug is running, watch the others start lying about things such as “No Carbon Tax” and then if they get in, we are guaranteed to have a Carbon Tax. They will lie like rugs, I can’t wait to hear the Mulroney candidate lie to me, after all she comes from a gene pool of great liars, remember The Meech Lake Accord. I detest her old man as much as I detest the Trudeau Clan. I’m guessing as with the Trudeau’s, that the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. Vote for a Trudeau or a Mulroney and you deserve a kick in the head, it won’t do any damage to you, as you’re already too stupid for words.
Thankfully we have this opportunity to elect a real Conservative instead of having a Traitorous POS, Red Tory, like that Sexual Degenerate Patrick Brown. If Doug gets in, it may impact our hopeless Federal Conservatives to start acting like Conservatives just out of embarrassment. Because if they are paying attention, it’s Premier Doug today and Prime Minister tomorrow.

Very impressive Doug Ford.
Now, just get really decisive on the sex-ed curriculum topic.

Andrew, tape your comments and play them backwards.

Well this thread is exhausted now but the primates 🦍 trolling here have provided us with enough insight to their mental capacity that we know how and what they think..

Doug Ford we not go all the way ( or maybe he will 😎 ). but he will not allow another majority liberal government to dominate over the poor and abused people of Ontario leaving them defenceless without a strong voice to criticize the questionable policies of a corrupt government. David Menzies please encourage and provide all the encouragement you can and positive coverage of this individual as he makes a bid to rescue Ontario from illegal taxes and the sodemites who are after the children and make Ontario the economic powerhouse that it once was… Bring back coal and natural gas and kick the phoney green science to the curb where it belongs
Go Doug go.!!!

I would like to know the Chinese community’s feelings on how Justin painted them and then just walked away from it like they would forget..

Flat earth,

You are so naïve. It really is amazing how some people here can be so clueless.

That is true Robert regarding your previous post… Christine mulrooney did the flip-flop on the carbon tax as well as some other issues and she by doing that is proof and she cannot be trusted and the Ontario people have had enough of flip-flop politics.. go Doug go..!! I may consider a contribution to that party.

Andrew,

More people show up to a movie theatre on any given Saturday night, but they think a few hundred people at a Doug Ford rally is a revolution.

It’s hilarious.

Robert Mcclelland,

Apparently you are going to be shocked when a woman is announced as PC leader.

David Menzies… Maybe you could do a follow up report if there is enough interest that is still generated by by how Justin Trudeau offended the Chinese community with the false attack report.. The Chinese community all think as one and they have very long memories and they know what dictatorships are like and how they are formed.. It would be nice to see many follow-up reports on that

“There will be a whole new industry trying to put the damaged kids back together after the perv -ed is trashed. That and law suits against the liberal government and perps. Hopefully it will encourage other provinces to cut it out. The damage is already evident.”
Lawsuits on the basis of what, exactly? Teaching adolescents about condoms is hardly unreasonable, and a lot of the arguments against it are not actually arguments against the curriculum. No, “Levin wrote it” is not legally admissible, not unless you can demonstrate there’s a problem with the curriculum itself… and nobody seems able to do it.

“. Just watch manufacturing come back to the province under responsible leadership. I am excited for Ontario.”
Advanced manufacturing has been doing quite well in Ontario, t o the point where there are significant issues finding qualified workers – there was an article in the Star a couple days about that. That doesn’t create unskilled labour jobs, but let’s be realistic, those aren’t coming back, technological advancement is replacing low skill jobs with robots. Doug Ford’s platitudes really don’t address that at all. The so called ‘skills gap’ is inn practice, very hard to address. How do you make unskilled labours, skilled? Ontario doesn’t need guys who can bolt wheels on cars – robots do it cheaper. Ontario needs people who can program and maintain those robots, and you need qualified people for that.

Once again Andy… Great catch on the grammar and complex sentence structure… Doug Ford has what it takes to rally the people in the competition has only just begun.. As you can tell from the video they certainly have had enough of the alt left dictatorship from the liberals.. I may have to send that man a contribution . " Still no evidence, hmm?

PCPO has 130,000 members. 300 at a rally in Etobicoke? Basically a rounding error, and Doug has no second choice potential. Look at how ranked balloting works – Elliot will easily win.

David Menzies… your report here was like a breath of fresh air that actually provides not only relief but something beyond hope for the future… I hope you closely follow the news regarding Doug and his political future so we can watch the tidal wave of support that grows behind this man as his common sense policy takes hold and stirs the people. Thanks again David for this report.

You sound a little upset Annie well you should be because you’re wilfully ignorant. "
About what, and why?

Why don’t you try to actually refute my comment instead of just tossing out accusations and hoping they stick? Make sure you show plausible third-party evidence that supports your counterargument.

I mean, baseless accusations are fun and certain demographics are satisfied to avoid supporting their opinions by hiding behind personal insults, but such are hardly objectively defensible. It’s almost like the “right” didn’t learn anything from “Nice hair, though”, backfiring.

Ford has already won by moving the other candidates to the right on the carbon tax. Way to go Doug.

If Doug and Jayson win their titles respectively and the provinces begin to prosper again the rest of the country has no choice but to take notice and if they would like to partake in some of the good fortune he will have to vote was some common sense. $60 billion and oil and natural gas in Nova Scotia and we’re sending transfer payments…?? This has to stop.!!

You know how you can tell when someone is a batshit crazy extreme conservative?

When they call people they don’t even know pedophiles with such ease and with no thought at all over how abhorrent such a false accusation is without 100% proof.
