Dr. Seuss wasn’t racist when Obama was President? A response in rhyming couplets

David MenziesMission Specialist

A gift is a gift, that much is true, unless the gift is from a Trump, then that gift won’t do! Especially if the person receiving the gift is a lefty-librarian.

Watch as I respond in rhyming couplets, Dr. Suess style, to Liz Phipps Soeiro, the Massachusetts librarian who went beyond looking a gift horse in the mouth to kicking it in the teeth when she publicly declined Melania Trump’s gift of children’s books.

Tammie,

Just catching up on the weekend. You definitely shut down resident troll, virus, worm, or bot of many identities with your poem.

Well done.

- They’ve played the race card until it has no meaning & now they don’t know what to do so they double down on it & make themselves look like the fools they are.

Jay Kelly/Andrew Stephenson,
You are troll, with many names
Let’s remember you have no game
Posting disinformation is what you do
We see through this tactic, through and through
You claim a moral high ground, this is a lie
We see who you are, we are not shy.
So when you say you are right,
I’ll tell you right now, you are a blight!
Go underground where you belong,
kick your head back with a Socialist song.
Our fight is ahead, we will prevail
Your words are nothing, but a fantastic fail!
Abandon our history, rewrite all you want,
We know the truth. but alas, you can’t handle the truth!
Instead, you manufacture outrage, offense, and a political song…We see you for the misguided humans you are, go ahead with your plan. and feel the pain, we warned you well ahead of the shame.
There is still time to change our course, it takes a nation to unify and throw out the discourse!

Can we actually promote the writing of a poem to express our feelings? Can we write a poem that expresses our thoughts? Let’s give it a try.
