Dutch filmmaker explores “new normal” of extreme political polarization in “Paradogma” (Guest Marijn Poels)

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Over the weekend I watched a compelling new documentary about the downward spiral of social discourse in the Western world.

The movie, entitled, “Paradogma” asks the question: How liberal is the West?

Through a series of interviews with international newsmakers and thinkers, including Canada’s own Jordan Peterson, Dutch filmmaker Marijn Poels examines the new phenomenon of the moralization of political issues - the trend toward seeing our ideological adversaries as evil instead of just different.

Poels, a left-leaning Liberal himself, posits that the breakdown of discourse is leading to the end of the free and liberal exchange of ideas, something that has always been a point of pride in the West.

Joining me tonight from Germany to talk about the “new normal” of extreme polarization and the role the mainstream media plays in enforcing ideological homogeneity, is Dutch filmmaker Marijn Poels.

Great interview with this Dutch gentleman who is a Leftwing Liberal, self-described, actually advocating for free speech!! This is just one more of a billion cracks in the “Narrative” of Leftism and Marxism practiced by far Left! What this fellow is describing is FASCISM.

I feel encouraged that people are tiring of the political correctness Gestapo telling them to conform or be berated. Let’s hope this keeps happening and people put the elitists on notice that they aren’t so elite after all. We need more Kanye Wests bucking the establishment as well.

D. Tyler, power and human greed coupled with loyalty gone sideways, wanting to be in the popular group at the expense of truth; so basically fear and loathing are the cause of all this self censorship and quelling we are seeing in media, business and communities. I think it stems from an indoctrinated society easily guilted and bullied by group think. It is a planned step by governments with Marxist leanings. In many places, Canada especially, it has been a very effective tool, as proven by our silenced and corrupt elections of late in every level of government. Most recently and notably in the Ontario mayoral elections of 2018. Not that the corruption is new (although maybe not to this level, now with tech involved in the tallying and fewer people to keep the process honest) but the blatant disregard for free speech is, and it astounds and disgusts me.

Maybe simple human greed is affecting journalism, to the line or lose your job or getting the big bucks is more important than truth. CBC sold to liberal party through taxpayer funded promises etc.

Lots of blame for Letter Bombs in USA being connected to RW agitators, by Red Sky News and a Democrat Senator but the next guy up to speak was a Republican Senator who stated that there is a lot of evidence that these Letter bombs are being placed by Democrats with the purpose of blaming Republicans….and the beat go’s on.

Really good conversation. Too bad no one in the media is shining a light on what happened in the Toronto Mayoral race. It is one heck of an elephant in the room and becoming hard to ignore, especially when I listen to an interview like this which celebrates sharing ideas whether they are thought of as correct or incorrect by some. I appreciate Marijn Poels disdain for labelling people and for the illogical fear of what just hearing a bad idea might do to hurt you somehow. Sunlight is the only remedy and there is very little of it in Canada. The last few weeks in Toronto proved that, if there was ever any doubt.

“A chilling effect on civil discourse” indeed.
“Free and liberal exchange of ideas”, where? We are either censored or censoring someone else. How can we talk about witch hunts after what went down in Toronto last week.

I hope Marijin Poels gets those Canadian screenings set up, and not just for Universities. Canada could use a little free speech. All the de platforming that goes in this country is making me question whether we aren’t all just a bunch of triggered hypocrites.

Bjørn Lomborg actually believed in man made global warming & got compared to Hitler by the head of the International Panel on Climate Change for daring to question the senselessness of the proposed solutions. Climate alarmism is a cult, complete with high priests like Al Gore & David Suzuki. The science of climate change has become a pseudoscience. Debate has been reduced to appeals to the government to use RICO laws to jail skeptics during the Obama years & calls for censorship of skeptics on social media more recently. The action on man made global cooling/warming/climate change consists of “solutions” that don’t match the “problems” but always results in the general population losing more of their rights & money.
