Left-wing Edmonton city council tears out high-cost bike lanes -- but this story gets even worse

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Edmonton is almost as far north as Moscow. For more than half the year, the temperature is freezing or below.

So you’ve got to be a die-hard eco-freak to think it makes sense to tear out roads, and put in bike lanes in Edmonton. The city proper is nearly 700 square kilometres, and that doesn't include the greater Edmonton metropolitan area.

Bike lanes, when you’ve got a million people driving to work, moms driving minivans with kids, trucks?

So of course Edmonton’s left-wing city council thought it was a great plan.

But it was such a foolish multi-million dollar disaster, they’re now ripping those bike lanes out. That will cost another $650,000 dollars. Taxpayers get ripped off coming and going — but city politicians and unionized city work crews get the big bucks both ways.

But that's not even the end of this story...

D. Jerome Hauk got that right, i can still remember seeing a lighted ambulance waiting for the damn LRT on 111st a while back, and it waited for a at least 5 minutes. I sure hope it did not cost anyone their life. And they have the new mess near the Royal Alec Hospital, i hope that never cost anyone a life.

In Calgary, we too have had useless bike lanes shoved down our throats, by that narcissistic Nenshi! When are citizens going to screen these smooth talking liars, before giving them power and control over our lives? I hope these bike lanes are the beginning of the end of Nenshi’s purple reign, when we finally return to the polls. I think the reason this bug-eyed mayor wants all those refugees so badly, is because he is hoping that they will keep him at the public trough! Not to mention that Nenshi has been busy building his No Go zones, using our public housing, and they are starting to become agitated, with those whom they don’t want to associate with.

Ezra, you might want to take a run at LRT in Edm; in particular, the Metro line that was oh so poorly planned such that major intersections are a virtual blockade due to slowly moving trains. Slowly moving because the software couldn’t talk with the 30 year old prevailing software causing all kinds of traffic disruptions at major intersections. Imagine an ambulance being prevented from reaching a hospital a few blocks distant – actually, don’t imagine… it really happened. And yet the mayor is salivating over a local MP having been elevated to cabinet; there seems to be major infrastructure monies on the horizon for even more transit. Good grief.
