The entitlement mentality in official Ottawa knows no political boundaries, creeping into everything in this town. While Harper was in power, excessive spending was discouraged but a year and a half into Trudeau’s term, the good times are back.
Watch as I tell you about the $111K in spending by bureaucrats - not politicians - at Ottawa’s fancy and exclusive Rideau Club.
The Rideau Club is a private club located on the top floor of an Ottawa skyscraper, with it’s own express elevator, dress code, and a membership costing thousands of dollars per year.
And taxpayers have been paying for certain memberships.
We all get the idea of a business lunch, but this goes well beyond that. The one person I knew who bought a membership while working as an independent lobbyist viewed it as a business expense but you know what? After moving in-house to a major firm that said they wouldn’t pay for it, this person gave it up.
So major firms won’t pay for memberships in private clubs but taxpayers will when bureaucrats ask.
Doesn’t it make you feel like we’re being played for fools? Fleeced by people that know how to game the system?
This won’t end while Trudeau’s in power. This is the man that put his nannies on the payroll as one of his first acts as prime minister. The attitude is set at the top.
