CONFIRMED: McKenna plans to move Alberta to low carbon economy

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

New Liberal Environment and Climate Change Minister, Catherine McKenna, held a telephone press conference on Wednesday afternoon to explain her plans for Alberta.

She had just met with Alberta Environment Minister Shannon Phillips to map out their strategy to unemploy thousands more Albertans. I mean, stop climate change by using carbon pricing.

The conference kicked off like so many things environmentalist liberals do; with a healthy dose of hypocrisy. Our new environmentalist overlord was calling us all from the vehicle on the way to the airport. Must be a solar car and a wind powered plane.

McKenna kept saying she will move Alberta to a low carbon economy. Does she know what we do here?

What does that mean for Alberta? Well, more of the same. The same meaning layoffs. On the very day McKenna was here telling Albertans to abandon their own prosperity, TransCanada, Enmax and Enbridge were announcing another round of layoffs. And Vancouver based Teck Resources laid off 1000 people, including many in their Calgary office. Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors says this will be the worst year Alberta has faced since the darkest days of Pierre Trudeau's National Energy Program in 1983. The CAODC predicts a decrease in oilpatch employment by over 57% in 2016. Real people are losing everything, and McKenna plans to make it all worse.

When we all have no jobs, no cars, no heat and no food, I guess that’s what McKenna will call a successful low carbon economy.

Andrew wrong on your numbers. You may be thinking of CO. And it is not a poison unless at unreal percentages which require specific condtitions , Which can be said about water, but i will not stop drinking it. And only parasitic plants can live without CO2

Will somebody PLEASE figure out how we can lay off these commies!

“They want to save a planet, that is not in danger, by reducing plant food. Thereby starving plants of a key nutrient, and in the end, starving humans”

Generally speaking, carbon dioxide is not the limiting nutrient in plant growth – typically it’s a soil nutrient, usually phosphorus, sometimes nitrogen depending on the microbiology of your particular soil and crop. Added carbon dioxide only provides added benefit in strictly controlled environments. such as greenhouses. In the open field there is no real benefit to it. You’re better off putting your effort into developing transgenic, pest resistant crops.

“Anyone who thinks carbon dioxide is poison please quit breathing , you are poisoning me.”
It’s a matter of concentration. In fact, 1% carbon dioxide is rapidly fatal to humans, due to respiratory acidosis (look it up).

Well she’ll be able to boast that she reduced Canada’s overall carbon footprint alright, but only because some of those offending bits will have separated off into a new country. I believe we currently export 3.1MM barrels to the US daily, that’ll keep things humming nicely and pay off a lot of local debt if it doesn’t have to go down into the Black Hole Triangle of Ottawa / Wynne / Quebec City.

Anyone want to bet that the progressives will import more blood oil to make up for what we are not making , thus making the carbon benefits non existent.

SIGH! Well my province will soon be dead, i am lucky enough to have just gotten hired at a grocery chain.
On the bright side we will no longer be able to support the East soon.

Terry Black – Agreed, and it will effect everyone in Canada! Those low information voters, still haven’t a clue, what they have done to our province, and our country!

CLIFF LLOYD because the right split the vote, the ndp only got around 35 or 38 percent of the vote, Mostly people who liked what was promised but have no clue that they will be the ones paying for all this so called free crap. Alberta is finished for at least four years, till the NDP is gone. They will be one hit wonders, you can only blame someone else so much then it gets old. They wanted the job and it was all so easy during the election so simple, she had all the answers, now they are stumbling around talking about shock absorber budgets ???? what ever that is and spending money like mad, They have no clue,Rest assured they will be gone, the only silver lining is alberta is broke so the fed gov cannot rob us to pay for all the crap he promised during the election. It again will be the young generation who pays not the older ones we will be retiring in a few years the youg kids are screwed, he bribes them with a legal pot promise then sticks them with billions upon billions of debt they will have to pay back. Keep hearing about green jobs etc from the libs but never ever anything specific like HOW MUCH DO THEY PAY AND WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY LOCATED.

They want to save a planet, that is not in danger, by reducing plant food. Thereby starving plants of a key nutrient, and in the end, starving humans. I seem to remember that the far left have always wanted a lower world population, now we know the tool they have gained access to in order to achieve that goal.

Here is why Alberta voted in the NDP.
Wildrose and the PC’s blanked up bad, via corruption and stupidity.
As voters the ONLY to tell a party they blanked up, is to vote them out. If you don’t, they just think, “Hey. We can keep on doing what we’re doing.”
The problem is, the only alternatives were the liberals, whom we all know have proven themselves to be as bad, if not worse, so they were out.
The Green Party? Get serious.
The ONLY shot was an untested idiot, whom everybody I talked to said, “They’re a Hail Mary, whom we hope will wise up once in power.”
Most Hail Mary’s fail though, and that’s what happened.
As for me, I didn’t vote in the Alberta election.
It’s the only other protest the voter has, that all the candidates are s.o.b.s.
Lots of responsible adults didn’t vote for that reason, and the NDP promised so much to the idiot youth, that we even have those idiots running the province now.
I told my friends, this is a no win situation, and the only thing a responsible adult can do is baton down the hatches and weather the perfect storm.
commented 2015-11-20 13:03:30 -0500
Cliff Lloyd – I addressed this below when I gave you a brief summary of why the NDP won in AB. The right vote split due to the perfect storm. Why did Ontarians elect that empty headed Trudeau?
commented 2015-11-20 12:54:32 -0500
Libs rmorons, thanks for the lesson in economics, but as a conservative I fully understand. My point was
if Albertans were so smart why elect a disaster like the NDP.

Butts will destroy this country.

Darryl Teskey – some union members are gleeful at the thought of sticking it to their employers, for their own selfish gain. I used to work for the ALCB years ago, and was even voted to be union rep, against my will of course. So I saw first hand, that as long as the members get the things on their continually growing wish list, that they really aren’t that involved in their union. This has been changing, as the militancy, and constant, unrealistic union demands are never satisfied, so they keep the members stirred up, to believe that they deserve everything, no matter what it costs the tax payers. They are selfish, in my opinion. I would never allow a union to dictate to me, who I have to vote for. They have no right to even stick their long noses, in the personal business of their members.

This essentially means The Liberal Party of Canada fully intends to hand Canada over to the United Nations. Welcome to the new “Republic Of Canada” a UN Country. Good bye sovereignty. Where wealth redistribution is key to a united world. Why Social Progesssive’s thinks this is a good idea???, oh right we are saving mother earth, or maybe we are about to destroy it, oh hum, doesn’t matter I feel good about myself. “It is for the greater good”.
What these idiots are about to commit to in Paris, is supposed to be legally binding. For oil rich Western Canada, this means the only way out, for whom ever wants out, would be to separate. Nice to see we have such responsible government. Not on so many fronts. Welcome to the twilight Zone.

I think the proper more truthful phrasing of this Byline should be: “NDP Plans To Move Alberta To A Low INCOME Economy”
commented 2015-11-20 09:55:27 -0500
Bruce you are 100 percent correct we need out now.
commented 2015-11-20 09:48:21 -0500
Alberta either moves to separate, now, or our homes, communities and way of life die. There will be nothing left after 4 years of this planned scorched earth economics but generations of debt to pay for.

DEBORAH GRAUPNER cancelled my sun subscrption pretty much after the tv station went off the air, They are a pathetic paper now doubt they will even survive, To many liberal cheer leaders out there they are just one of the crowd now.And you are no doubt correct, the members voted in there own deaths because the union boss told them to ? Never ever figure that one out ?
commented 2015-11-20 09:28:47 -0500
Darryl Teskey – the unions are useful tools for the UN. It is the UN that is funding the Liberal party of Canada, through the unions, and all the rent-a-mob bums, and they are responsible for all the attacks on our capitalist market. Another useful tool, is that fraud in the Whitehouse, as he continues to destroy North American security. I don’t believe anything that the MSM pumps out. The rag style newspapers continually play the public with their images of those poor refugees. I couldn’t even tell that there was a federal election going on, with all the faux news, printed to distract the public, and to continually try to make us feel guilty for some perceived wrong, done to someone in history. Just look at the Calgary Sun front page today. Every Sun paper I see is thrown in the garbage now, because I no longer believe a word, and I don’t want to be a useful tool passing on their trash as the truth!

the unions support the liberals ??? yet thousands of there members are out of work and still they are silent ?? Why ,someone is getting some benifit out of this and it isnt the workers ? wonder what union leader is on the liberal payroll? something smells,

Canada is already a carbon sink.

Cliffy , not much of an economist are you? Significant job losses in Alberta means job losses elsewhere as many of these workers came from other provinces. These people now go home and onto welfare in their province. People are now spending less and giving less to charities. People are not working as hard as the taxes on higher income make it less enticing to sacrifice your life to have most of it taken by losers who want everything for free. Governments will be taking in less taxes and will now have to help the poor as charities are hurting. Of course no government job is lost nor are they taking a paycut. Who do you think will pay for the shortfall in taxes? Yes, the poor and middle class…you moron.

Sheila makes another good point, which is the sheer hypocrisy of the people doing the sabotaging of the economy to supposedly save the patient. It’s a pity they don’t suffer being thrown out of work and out of their 1st world lifestyle instead of of people like the oil industry workers who have been doing the actual work of economically building Alberta.
commented 2015-11-20 00:08:01 -0500
I can’t help but wonder if there has ever been another case of the leaders of a country being conned by foreign powers into deliberately sabotaging their own economy, and thereby acting against the interests of their own country. Sheila is right: The inmates are now in charge of the asylum. And they are bent on destroying it in order to save it.

Cliff said, “If the gene pool is so high in Alberta, how come they voted in the NDP?”

If the gene pool is so high in Ontario, then why did they vote in the Lieberals?
