Environment Ministry lobbying up 5,000% as cronies vie for access to carbon tax “slush fund”

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

A new report from The Hill Times shows the Environment Ministry is the most lobbied one in Ottawa. “Climate” showed up in 104 communication reports in September and Environment Minister McKenna was the most lobbied minister, showing up in 235 communications reports.

The Environment Ministry was so inundated by groups wanting favours that the amount of lobbying was up 5000% from the same month in 2014.

Who is lobbying McKenna? Environmental groups like the Suzuki Foundation and Ecojustice and big businesses.

These companies want access to a slush fund of taxpayer money that will be generated by the Trudeau Liberals’ carbon tax for projects that will be classified as “ green” or in the name of efficiency and sustainability. And you and I will be footing the bill.

But what about us - the normal people who won't get big government subsidies to buy off our support of a carbon tax? What do we really think about climate change? Is it really this much of a worry for us that we should see such a huge lobbying increase in two years?

Well, in a practical sense, we just don't fear climate change as revealed in a Pew research poll from last fall but I have even more proof as I’ll show in my video.

The data shows the world isn't scared of climate change even if McKenna is, and those of us who do care, even slightly, don't care enough to change our habits.

But what about the Liberals? They don't care about what the middle class thinks is a priority. They aren't listening to us. They're listening to their friends.

Our concern about climate change hasn't increased 5000% since 2014. But the number of big businesses looking to ride the carbon tax gravy train sure has.

It really sucks just standing by and watching my country get flushed down the toilet by these Liberal swine at their Globalist master’s behest!
Sitting here flappin’ my jaws…all to no avail.
At least there was some organized protest against Wynne and more so against Notley…for a while.
We are being force-marched in lock-step down that road to their totalitarian Globalist nightmare…just sitting here flappin’ our jaws…

Hey Crankypants!

Don’t you know by now that liberals do not give a sweet damn about common people?

As long as they can smoke their pot and screw their same sex partners then all is well with the world and to hell with everyone else.

Let’s do like our ministers and start crying.

No, no, no, no. A carbon tax will only impoverish Canadians and do nothing to curb carbon dioxide emissions. The Liberals are playing a dangerous game thinking they are being “progressive”. Most of them do not have the education or good insight to do the right thing. I need to heat my home, feed my family and drive to work. How do they think I will afford to pay these extra taxes. I am already struggling to maintain my family. Liberals do not care about us which makes me wonder why they were voted in.

“Oh nothing can be so sweet, as when staunch cricket bat and McKenna’s face do meet”…

I wonder how much Co2 —400,000 new people to Canada will spew out ? In 10 years -that is 4 million people. Does the fact that these people NEGATE your Climate initiatives—- Mean anything ?

“That’s another prize picture for a traveling billboard!”
Along side a picture of Stan Laurel, she is a dead ringer.

So that’s where all the new “green” jobs have been created, lobbyists. I hope McKenna grows more teats, she’ll need then for all the little piggies jostling to feed on her largesse!

Dear minister mkenna, see you next tuesday…

At least the carbon tax is “revenue neutral” They take your money and give it to deserving people like Suxuki.

One thing I dislike more than a Carbon Tax is Socialism. And corrupt socialism at that! We are becoming no different than Venezuela, Central America and most of Europe. Just wait.
For a PM to listen to and endorse McKenna and Butts speaks loudly to where Canada is headed. It’s easy to predict.

Corrupt leaders - will favour ‘Cap and Trade’ because it allows them to hand out the LOOT , at their leisure , to already Rich people that can afford to LOBBY——— and the Payback is VOTES . The Corrupt Crooks – see nothing to gain from a Revenue neutral ‘Carbon tax’ because they don’t believe in the devastating effects of – CO 2 in the first place -- it is all about the Money and the already rich ‘Vote Getters’. Just watch which Province picks———

why not implement an import levy on goods imported from states that pollute?

I also like the banner picture of McKenna. The ultimate smug Liberal Party of Corruption look upon realization of the payout from lobbies; the up yours look to the tax payer.

They ignore the UN, Japan, Austrailia and European experience with the corruption inherent in this tax redistribution scheme which atrophied any real effort at emission reduction so badly the EU scrapped it – but Tater Tot is just to fvcking arrogant to take advice from the grown ups.

The European Union, which boasts the largest cap-and-trade system in the world, has been repeatedly damaged by corruption, which has included the re-sale and misreporting of used carbon offsets, and “sophisticated computer hacking” which led to thefts from national carbon emission registries. While both can be purchased and traded, carbon offsets are different than carbon credits in that offsets represent tangible projects ranging from forestry and land use change, whereas credits are similar to a currency, each credit worth a set amount of carbon emission. An entity can therefore obtain carbon credits in exchange for funding an offset program, as well as buy them on the open market.

But the biggest threat is value-added tax fraud. In 2010, authorities uncovered VAT fraud in carbon trading which amounted to an estimated $6.45 billion in losses. In this form of VAT fraud, known as carousel fraud, the carbon credit trader sells the carbon credit to a buyer, charges a VAT, and then keeps the taxes meant for the government. The trader then quickly disappears. Rampant carousel fraud led to a restructuring of the carbon trade system’s tax structure, but not before a deflation of 90 percent in the carbon market caused a temporary cessation of carbon trade, the UNEP bulletin said.

As regional climate control frameworks such as Europe’s carbon trading system, and the global Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) initiative become more popular, the success of climate control will depend heavily on the ability of these systems to effectively limit and counter corruption.

Actually, it is not the middle class that is most affected by the carbon extortion. We may be substituting meatloaf for roast at Sunday supper, but we will eat.

The working poor are already at the meatloaf, if they are lucky, stage. Anyone believing the ‘rebates’ are going to ameliorate the situation of the working poor can still buy the Dunvegan Bridge from me.

On CTV’s Question Period yesterday the tall foreheads and the wags were baffled by the persistence of low growth economies around the world. I guess these mental midgets have forgotten that our prosperity and well being for the last 200 years has been the result of an abundance of low-cost, reliable energy from fossil fuels. As the world goes green, prosperity is going with it. It won’t affect the wealthy and well connected elites however, just me an you. Get prepared for a much lower standard of living and all the upheaval that will come with it.
