Glenn, I think I agree, kind of. Maybe it’s just historical perspective, but I believe it’s generally conceded that Van der Lubbe committed the arson, and the only question is whether he acted alone. But while it’s still (just barely) considered politically correct to use the words Hitler and Nazi interchangeably with adjectives like “evil”, the situation is quite different with nation-less, Islamic terrorist organizations, which liberals and mainstream media are increasingly championing by playing the role of apologist and turning convicted terrorists like Khadr into “heroes”. You’re right, though, it doesn’t matter that Khadr committed the acts that formed the basis for his U.S. military war crimes convictions. What matters is his usefulness in promoting public doubt and suspicion over the the war on terror, the U.S., the military, 9/11, conservative governments, and Harper, in order to distract attention from the atrocities committed by Islamic terrorists, expressly in the name of Islam. By contrast with Khadr, whose involvement and training with an Islamic terrorist group is undisputed, Van der Lubbe wasn’t complicit with Hitler or the Nazi Party, and in fact his crime is now valorized as an act of political resistance to the Nazi regime.

The acquittal of Omar Khadr is sort of like the acquittal of Marinus Van der Lubbe. It is not a question of the fact that he did what he was accused of…the regime that accused him is evil and therefore illegitimate…and THAT is what matters to leftists.

As I have said it before, why is a citizen of France – Mulcair – allowed to sit in our parliament as an MP, Leader of the Opposition, and is running to become the foreign PM of Canada. When will he renounce his French citizenship?

Someone better warn Bono that Angry Tom and Shiny Pony don’t like wealthy tax-dodging elitist hypocrites.

He confessed. Written. Christopher Spears is still dead, his buddy blind, wife widowed, and children fatherless.

Semantics. Omar committed the act did he not? And then bragged about it afterwards! Still valid!
