"Laughable": Here's everything Maclean's got wrong about "the angry, radical right"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Maclean’s magazine just published a huge story called “The Angry, Radical Right," with the sub-headline, “Why a growing number of extremists are lashing out publicly at Muslim immigrants and Justin Trudeau."

What the author did was laughable:

He went to some public Facebook groups — where anyone in the world can write a message -- and he cherry-picked some people ranting politically about the PM and refugees.

The Maclean's article uses the word "extremist" five times — but never to talk about Muslim migrants or terrorists, of course. Only to describe old stock Canadians who are angry about Trudeau.

But those angry words on Facebook that Maclean's is suddenly so concerned about? They’re just words. Maclean’s used to support that sort of thing.

Remember Mark Steyn's cover story ten years ago, warning about Muslim migration?

Muslims took Maclean's to human rights court over that. It cost the magazine a quarter million dollars to fight back, but they did.

Maclean’s would never do that today.

Now they put convicted Al Qaida terrorist Omar Khadr on their cover, presenting him as a victim.

There are real threats in Canada. As I told their writer, the likelihood of being killed by Muslim terrorists is very low. The real threat is political Islam changing our culture.

But to Maclean’s, that’s just too difficult to talk about.

Besides, they know that the online commenters they went after in this article aren't going to take them to court, let alone an unfair human rights commission.

At The Rebel, we know what the real threats are. And exposing them is tougher work than reporting on comments left on obscure Facebook pages.

Regular readers at The Rebel should be aware that they are the extremists in Canada.

Mannie, thanks for proving my point, now you hurl names, calling me a retard. Well done. You have removed all doubt that your name is Gordon Steele.

Certainly some crappie journalism from Maclean. I think the left is not happy enough with the demise of Sun News but want all political dissent ended.

Oh Micheal Mann, we aren’t so far from worrying about crime here in Canada. Especially with the soft punishments lefty types like yourself hand out.
commented 2016-01-26 16:16:43 -0500
If lefties weren’t scared they wouldn’t be appeasing the Muslims like they do.

Canada’s ratio of radical left to radical right is about 9:1. But that’s not enough for the fascists among the leftists, they want a perfect score.

Thanks for the warning D Mary. It pays to be a little paranoid. The same thing happened to Free Dominion, if any of you remember that website. Trolls registered on mass and it was later FD figured out many were plants trying to get members to agree with racist comments. First it got them into trouble with the Human Rights shake down Commission. Eventually it all lead them into legal trouble, and the end of FD

Hmm, so I might be an extremist. I guess I have been called worse, by better!

D Mary,

Keep thinking I am Gordo and confirming that you are a retard. It makes no difference to me. Every post you make is laughable.
commented 2016-01-26 10:07:25 -0500

I don’t demonize all conservatives. I will say that there are sensible and reasonable conservatives – but The Rebel doesn’t really cater to them. Most conservatives here are of the extreme kind that Maclean’s is talking about.

Liberals simply don’t live in fear and paranoia like you do. We also consider the odds, so when you understand that you are more likely to win the Powerball while being hit by lightning compared to being attacked or killed by a terrorist, you don’t spend your days frantically worried that the Muslim boogeyman is coming to get us. That’s the reason why.

We have far more reason to worry about everyday crime in Canada. Like what happened to Mark Ernsting – look him up.

Mannie, or should we say Gordon, thanks for the confirmation. It was too obvious. And thanks for the names and swearing, further proof. Once again, you speak and remove all doubt.
commented 2016-01-26 09:26:13 -0500
D Mary,

I am not Gordo Steele. That’s how smart you are, which is to say that you are dumb and don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.

Slipped up.

Nice brain you’ve got there.

Well said Sheldon. I’m afraid that you may be preaching to the choir. Your intended audience would be mannie et al, but there is way to much info for their brains to take in. The attention span of these leftist progressive fucktards doesn’t allow them to comprehend much over one or two sentences, with no big words of course.
commented 2016-01-26 01:56:14 -0500
Well said Sheldon. If you ever do get laid off maybe Ezra can give you a job writing for The Rebel. I will add another peave of mine is how the libs always accuse us of having an irrational fear of Muslim terrorism but then bend over backwards to appease them in the vain hope it will cause less terrorism. That’s not irrational fear?

For those who haven’t noticed, Michael Mann is just another alias for Gordo Steele. He has slipped up as usual, today several times. For instance, he keeps copies of all comments, and constantly refers back, months sometimes, to bring back something someone said way back, always out of context. He calls you a hater if you disagree with something. For instance, the gun grab by the RCMP during the High River flood. For those who didn’t agree with the RCMP’s actions, he called them RCMP haters and attackers. He stated today that the liberals never did the fear mongering thing, yet when you remind him that they said there would be armed military with machine guns on every corner, that apparently never happened. Starting to see the similarities now? He is just a useless antagonist who can’t make a logical argument, hates and attacks the military (obviously he never volunteered,) and on it goes. He forced the closure of the comments section of Ezra’s last employer single handed using multiple aliases, and not once, ever, was one of his racist bigoted comments ever deleted; of course they wouldn’t delete his comments, he worked for them. Funny how that publication says they took down the comments section because of his alias trolls, but they are never coming back. He took good debate and contaminated it. Drew W was a regular excellent contributor and recognized this early on. Don’t let “mannie” Gordo Steele bother you since he can’t ruin this one. The very thing he falsely accused Ezra of, not allowing comments after his stories, is working extremely well for Ezra here, and extremely poorly for Gordo Steele. Just ignore Gordo “mannie” Steele.

“Giving a tongue bath to Omar Khadr”. Wow. I had to rewind and listen again to make sure I heard that right. I really, really hope someone responsible for editorial content at MacLeans hears that. It would be worth money to see their faces.

Michael Mann: ‘The Rebel’s bread and butter is fear mongering and you eat that shit up". I would argue that is exactly what the left does. They demonize conservatives at every given opportunity with buzz words like they have a hidden agenda or they are spreading fear and division meanwhile their intense attacks accomplish exactly that causing people to think conservatives are motivated by hate and can’t be trusted forgetting they just finished running the country for almost 10 years without any hidden agenda emerging, no increase in racial tension and an economy which could always be better wasn’t in dire. They are the ones spreading fear and division when they try to suggest that issues like the Niqab debate were only motivated by bigotry conveniently downplaying the woman behind the issue has been linked to radical Islam. They create fear when they ignore the serious issues going on around the world and assure it it could never happen here but offer no reason as to why. If people are afraid it is because their assurances have failed to assure us that they know or care enough about our rights as they do trying to create a photo op for their own legacy.

Very well said Sheldon, am I angry, sure, am I scared you bet. People do tend to lash out when they find their backs to the wall.
What really scares me is when good people are pushed to a breaking point their response is usually very swift and very brutal and when that happens ,THATS when these people will want to open up a dialogue and discuss the issues. If it gets that far, it will be to late and THATS what scares me.
commented 2016-01-25 21:34:01 -0500
I wish it was possible to have a real debate between liberals and conservatives. I am more conservative everyday. I am more conservative everyday because liberals are less and less liberal and more and more off the left wing ledge.
Let’s start with the idea of fear. If you are not afraid every once and a while after watching what is going on in the world then check your pulse you might be dead. I remember the liberals and their fearmongering of Stephen Harper, ‘he has a hidden agenda’; ‘he will make abortion illegal’; ‘he is a Christian’; ‘he is for big oil’; ‘he hates the environment’; ‘he is anti-science’. All of these accusations and malicious pejoratives were not only unfounded but were immature and reflected badly on those that said them. Stephen Harper had his faults and the main one was that he did not govern very conservatively. That is an incontrovertible fact. He was centrist. He made no conservative social moves, he ran deficits to appease the liberals and NDP during his minority mandates and continued to do so with a majority. (I cut him a break on running deficits since he is an economist and I am not.) The left did plenty of fear-mongering about Stephen Harper and the conservatives. The biggest issue the left had with the previous government was that they dropped the word ‘progressive’ from the party name. What a dumb name: Progressive Conservative! That would be the same as if the liberals decided to call themselves the Evangelical Liberal Party of Canada. Or maybe, the Right Wing Liberal Party of Canada. Liberals fear conservatives because conservatives are grown up and liberals have turned into adolescent brats. I am sure there are some real liberals out there but I can’t remember the last time I ran into one. These kids are scared of not getting there way and tend not to know what is going on in the grown up world. Name calling mitigates their fear. The more afraid they are the more they hurl their insults and cast blame on others.
Anger: well, I remember JT being quite angry and calling someone ‘a piece of shit’ in parliament. If you really want to see a liberal get angry just say Christian or Catholic or if you are willing to risk your life try saying ‘evangelical free trade pro-life oil worker’. Reserve that last one for only if you have a pre-planned escape route.
Are conservatives angry? Well, yeah, when you start talking about Justin Trudeau whipping out his anti-oil, anti-pipeline, admiration for China, Quebec knows best, drama teacher dramatics. Why can’t that guy talk like a normal person!!! Come on, even the most die hard Liberal can’t tell me that they wouldn’t rather have their skin peeled from their limbs than listen to this guy talk! It is excruciating listening to a grown man talk in a half baby, quarter14 year old valley girl, and quarter pretentious high school drama teacher voice.
Aren’t we all just a little scared and pissed off these days? The dollar is less than 70 cents and they tell us it’s good for the economy. People are blowing themselves up to kill others and saying ‘God is great, peace be upon you’. There is a global economic meltdown and I’m not sure I will have a job tomorrow. Iran wants to obliterate Israel off the face of the earth, Russia takes Crimea and invades the Ukraine, the US is 17 trillion in debt and couldn’t stand up to a mild breeze. Syria is a killing field and kids are shooting other kids at school on a regular basis. I am told the world is coming to an end by a massive temperature increase but all I have to do to stop it is give up my job, my house, my car, and most of what I normally eat and wear. I see a large segment of the Islamic world chopping off people’s heads, raping women and girls, throwing gay people off of buildings, killing Christians, and vowing to destroy western civilization. My countries response to the terror in the Middle East is to withdraw the meagre military effort to combat ISIS and the radical murderer’s and rapists and give the victims winter coats. My current prime minister derided Stephen Harper for running deficits while campaigning on a promise to run deficits himself. I hear mayors from Calgary, Montreal, and Burnaby talking about pipelines and trade deals when they are supposed to be looking after their respective cities rather than enviously wishing they had more important jobs. I could go on. In short, I am angry and I am scared. We have a world in crisis and some of the dumbest people we could find running the show. Who isn’t angry and scared? If you are not scared and angry you might be dead or certainly a Liberal.

Yes, it is a minority and no, I am not worried about it being a problem here. I am more worried about crime and murder committed by Canadians against Canadians.

The Rebel’s bread and butter is fear mongering and you eat that shit up. Hell, there are conservatives on here that think YOU are crazy and have stated exactly that, so you are completely delusional if you think you are normal.

No one is lashing out at immigrants or refugees. Rather we are lashing out at bad policy in the wake of mass rapes across Europe. Since when does questioning policy make you an extremist? At least we aren’t like Macleans who get to white wash the risk of refugees on the government dole.

Well said Liza. The left is all about protests, smashing stuff and robbing stores. When they get interviewed they don’t even know what they’re angry about. All they know is that they hate hard working conservatives and pipelines and want to ‘transform’ our country because they hate it too. They want to give it away to ‘more deserving’ minorities who can’t even find it on a map and that is what makes me angry. No end to stupid liberal thinking. Many books have already been written.

“Seems like McLean’s got this one “right”. The extreme right is very angry and has worked very hard to sabotage the modern political structure. The Conservatives moved so far right under Harper they think that the centrist Liberal party is extreme left wing. The Liberals are barely left of center now, if at all. Hate mongering is a much larger threat to Canadian citizens than any potential terrorists because hate mongering is and will continue to implant hate filled ideas in the minds of those that are already mentally imbalanced. This was exactly the same way that the Nazi party worked. "

Your ignorance is stunning, a product of our new educational system with no fails? Liberals have not been centrist since Lester B. Pearson (22 April 1963 – 20 April 1968). Pierre Trudeau moved the party left of center. NAZI – The National Socialist German Workers’ Party.

Short history lesson for you:

“Sean Penson intoned: “The right must learn to master newspeak, and at least pretend to eschew their views. Just at least pretend to go with the flow, and all will be fine. Just be ready to turn in your friends and supporters to the appropriate authorities when told to do so” Spoken like a tyrant! Any relation to Goebbels?”

I was thinking along similar lines Rick, but Goebbels was the Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945. That comment of Sean’s is more reminiscent of the Gestapo and their reliance on/by informants. However, when you consider all of the propaganda Sean usually types ad nauseam, Goebbels is the better fit.

To the left wingnuts who think conservatives are hatemongers, do you think what is happening in the UK, Germany, Belgium or France is alright? Do you want the same for Canada? Do you think it is just a small minority of Muslims causing problems there? Do you think that we will never have to worry about such problems here? Or regarding alternative energy or any other thing, I never hear any valid arguments from these people.

D.T. how can you ignore what the Liberal party has become. It is unrecognisable as the centrist party it once was. They are so far left that they have made the NDP redundant. The only reason the conservative party now looks far right to the likes of you, is because the left is so far out in left field as to look like one big blur.

Mad and madder, gets entirely too much attention.
