The Liberals politicize everything they touch, even death and human rights.
“The Department of Canadian Heritage, in collaboration with the Department of Justice, is reinstating and modernizing the Court Challenges Program (CCP). The CCP will provide financial support to Canadians to bring cases of national significance related to constitutional and quasi-constitutional official language rights and human rights before the courts.”
This legal welfare scheme that two separate Conservative Prime Ministers have tried to end, has been revived once again by the Liberals to give money to people who want to sue someone or some entity for an alleged violation of their charter rights. The money is meant to cover legal costs and other court-related expenditures.
Proponents of the program say it helps marginalized people defend their rights.
Critics of the program, say it picks winners and losers, taking sides in human rights disputes before the courts get a chance to weigh in and see who's legally right. Worse, the accused human rights violator has no such access to a similar fund to defend themselves.
It’s unfair and ripe for political abuse.
When the Liberals announced funding for this program in 2016, they assured us that it would be independent, or at least that's what they told the CBC who reported:
“According to a department official, who briefed reporters Tuesday, all funding decisions will be made by two independent bodies, whose members will be selected through an "open, transparent, and merit-based" model that mirrors governor and council appointments.”
Sounds good in theory but the Liberals don’t know the meaning of independent and merit-based.
Now after a 22-month wait, we finally have exclusive access to information documents to show you how the Liberals tried to use a horrific tragedy to sell the public on the need for the Court Challenges Program - and they did it over the objections of legal experts in their own Justice Ministry.
One frantic email sent just 14 hours after the Quebec City mosque shooting, shows Justice Ministry bureaucrats looking for a way to use the murders to push the need for the program:
“given the shootings in Quebec, please advise as to what we have on this ASAP. We need to loop in the deputy minister’s office and cc Kathy and Francois“
Watch as I show you those emails, and more, in my exclusive report today.
The Court Challenges Program will be a slush fund to persecute Christians, conservatives, churches, fraternal orders and sororities. This is the cash the Liberals will use to outsource their disdain for free speech, free thought, and free association.
As we've seen in these documents, the Liberals use any manner of tragedy to make sure that happens.
