We’ve told you before that while Toronto’s homeless freeze on the streets, Justin Trudeau’s refugees are getting the royal treatment, being put up in hotels at our expense. So how much is this costing Canadian taxpayers? Well, today we tried to find out...
In the spirit of the Trudeau Liberals' 2015 election promise of openness and transparency, we filed a formal Access to Information request.
“Provide copies of any contracts or agreements with The Plaza Hotel in North York and the Toronto Radisson East for the provision of accommodation for asylum and refugee claimants, since January 1, 2016 to January 29, 2019.”
And the answer we received?
“Following a thorough search of our information holdings, I regret to inform you that no records were found that respond to your request.”
Refusing to provide the answer to our request is an egregious and outright abuse of power so we’re going to appeal this decision.
Canadians have every right to know what these hoteliers are being paid because they’re footing the bill for these long-term hotel stays in the first place.
