EXCLUSIVE: FOI docs reveal cost of Liberals using bureaucrats for partisan byelection work

Brian LilleyArchive

I’m not sure where Justin Trudeau thinks tax dollars come from but I think I know where they go - and that is as often as possible, towards his needs or the Liberal party needs.

Latest example, we’ve obtained the expense reports from the Privy Council Office (PCO) for the prime minister’s trip to Medicine Hat, Alberta for the by-election last October.

Now, if you don’t speak the dialect known as “Official Ottawanese” you may wonder what this would be all about.

The PCO is the prime minister’s department - they are supposed to be non-partisan bureaucrats, and yet this latest release of documents shows bureaucrats spending time putting together briefing notes for what was a political, partisan trip and two bureaucrats being sent out to record everything Trudeau did and shipping Government of Canada gear to do it at huge cost.

Normally prime ministers don’t campaign in by-elections but Trudeau keeps doing it, and he keeps losing.

Watch as I explain why PM’s normally don’t do this, and why taxpayers should be upset about Trudeau doing it.

In the end, if you think this is nit picking or small potatoes, it’s not. It’s part of a pattern of the Liberals not knowing where the line is between government business and party business. Between government funds and party funds.

There would be no problem with bureaucrats drawing up briefing notes and giving them to the PM if this had been a normal government of Canada trip but it wasn’t. This was a partisan trip to do party business.

Those two things are supposed to be separate. Liberals have gotten themselves into trouble on this sort of thing before. And Trudeau is following in those footsteps.

They’ve sent cabinet ministers across the country to do fundraisers and then found a small event to make it public business so that the taxpayers pick up the dime.

Trudeau himself set the entitlement tone off the top with one of his first acts - putting the nannies on the public payroll.

He took 10 vacations last year, costing you a lot of money but to Justin Trudeau, your money is his money. There is no line.

You work hard to support him and the Liberal Party in the lifestyle they are accustomed to.

Don’t worry the media party will be all over this , just like they were when Rob Ford used some office paper.

Yvette,
We don’t have to boot him anywhere. Trudeau is in Never Land. That magical place where you don’t have to grow up. Peter Pan as PM, Tinker Bell at his side.
Walt Disney’s new theme park, Canada !

Brian, this whole thing is crazy & you know more about their job descriptions than they do including Trudeau. When is Trudeau going to stay put & start working for Canadians. Until now, he has done f-all & I guess taking 10 vacations last year (disgusting), jetting across the planet to attend useless climate change conferences, delivering useless speeches at the UN & other speeches such as the recent one in Texas, trying to convince oil companies to invest in a tax laden Canadian oil industry, what a joke & now again campaigning in by-elections, the list is endless, so it’s no wonder nothing gets done. I hope & pray the right candidate is chosen to be the next Federal Conservative leader & come next election Trudeau will be booted to never never land .

All the silly Rebel contributors. No more petitions, no more financial contributions.
Everything should be put in a common account to buy our prince a new crown.
It has to be made of the best quality gold, adorned with the rarest gems.
And of course, when the measurements for this thing of beauty are made,
it has to be fitted to be worn upside down.
Hail to the prince who will never be

In China, government bureaucrats work for the governing party. Trudeau openly admires China’s basic dictatorship. He’s just emulating them.

Federal bureaucrats and their unions have always been partisan supporters of the Lying Party of Corruption, who only work to line their own pockets when the LPC is in power or work to sabotage government when the LPC is not in power.
