EXCLUSIVE: Alberta NDP “shaken” by Rebel’s cancelled water bomber investigation

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

I recently received some documents through freedom of information filings into the Alberta government which revealed how effective The Rebel is with the help of Albertans, and just how derelict the mainstream media is when it comes to the NDP.

Last year I did an investigation into water bomber contracts in the lead up to the Wood Buffalo wildfire. We learned that NDP cuts to the wildfire budget caused such confusion and chaos in the Ag and Forestry Ministry, that all the water bomber contracts in the province had to be cancelled just ten days before fire swept into Fort McMurray.

It was a massive scoop that was devastating for the NDP and despite the $4,000 cost to access those documents, we published them on our website so the mainstream media could do their jobs and cover the story too. But predictably, they did not.

The mainstream media turned a blind eye to the story, but I wasn’t done. I followed up on my original story with another FOI request. I wanted to know how the NDP reacted to my story on water bombers.

I asked the government to provide copies of any documents, including emails, memos, reports, media lines, Q&As, text or Instant messages, Blackberry PINs, briefing notes, etc., regarding water bombers between October 1, 2016 to November 9, 2016.

I’m happy to learn from the documents I received, the NDP were shaken and panicked by my story.

And even better than that, the NDP were getting deluged with inquiries from Albertans who wanted answers too, and wanted to know why the government had charged The Rebel so much to get the truth.

Watch my video to see the worried emails sent by government staffers trying to get their talking points straight and manage the damage done by my story.

I also have a theory or two about why the media continues to ignore these stories that do harm to the NDP.

The mainstream media cone of silence surrounding the NDP is why our independent journalism is so important. No one else is asking these questions.

If you can help cover our costs for our ongoing freedom of information investigations into the NDP, please donate at www.WhatIsSheHiding.ca.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around this..!!
Her price for harming a nation with 35 million people, all suffering from the policies that she endorses but doesn’t have to live by is a couple of fancy cars and a pension… And maybe a couple minutes of media time..!! Wow…!!!!!
I now understand the passage in the Bible that states “what profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul in the process”.
They sure got her cheap..!!!
The fools that support her they got for free..!!!

I hope the NDP are watching this video.

Faith you are going to give Notley wrinkles from worry. Oh sorry there is no more space for those on her face, my bad.

Environmentalists also caused the Fort McMurray fire by putting up such a fuss to cut trees down. Also Sheila, remember when you were assaulted in redmonton rally for asking questions, well, that next week, we happened to put CHED 630 radio in redmonton on, and that idiot Ryan Jesperson (I call him THE KNOW-IT-ALL PREACHER MAN ) unfortunately was on from 9 to 12 am. He was being forced to talk about what happened to you when you were assaulted. Well, we have never heard such hatred from a radio host. He really put The Rebel and Ezra down with unbelievable disgust. We were stunned by him saying over and over and over again how The Rebel was lying, telling stories wrong, and misleading people. He said he HATED THE REBEL and its reporters several times. What a complete sub-human Ryan Jesperson is. He has such hatred for us all. I am still shocked at what he was saying.

They can call us all the names they want – ain’t gonna change reality one iota! They are crooked , insane, lunatics and that will never change. Until they are dealt with as all tyrants end being dealt with, eventually. Just pisses me off how much we are paying for her “security”!! Anyone got a wooden stake????

Sheila, this is crazy & it is extortion as I indicated on another post.
You’re getting good info, but at what price? How much have the NDP benefited from extorting Rebels who have donated much for the release of those & many other documents.
Access to these docs should be minimal in fee & you should make the NDP break down those figures which you have a right to ask before forking out those outragious amounts & what about sending a note to your MP. Some people don’t even earn that in a month & they want that for photocopying a few dozen pages. Downright thievery.

Good job Sheila!! You’ve really grown into this job. Ezra has a great eye for talent. Cheers!

Just guessin, but I’d bet the Historic Mars Martin bomber by itself, would have had things under control in 3 to 6 dumps. And to add insult to injury, seems I recall that only sellected contractors were allowed back in to rebuild. Talk about undemocratic communism. I also disagree that only paid up memberships to a poltical party can vote for our MP’s, instead of all Canadian citizens, paying taxes.

The NDP were negligent and I can’t believe the insurance companies aren’t going after them. I still think that fire was deliberately set.

This government thinks they were elected because Albertans wanted the NDP to indoctrinate them with their left wing ideology and not much else. Actually governing for the good of the people isn’t even on their agenda other than to garner votes. They are morally bankrupt, intellectually inept, completely lacking in common sense, all of which makes them completely incompetent.

Harley McCartney, I agree there has to be some way to make the Gov. not only stop extorting such large amounts of money but have past payments amended so they pay us back some of it. Robbers and thieves! They need to be harassed at every turn and Canadians need to know that the info they have a right to is far from free. A minimal charge is not 4,000, or 7,000 dollars. We have a right to the info, They are trying to punish us for asking questions. It needs to be brought up in Parliament. They must be exposed and shamed for charging so much!

I am glad the Rebel is giving them pause. Sheila you also pointed out how they are badmouthing us, trying to ruin our reputation. I think that should be discussed often as well. They are bullies in every sense of the word. They have to know we are big, we don’t cower and we don’t go home.

Good for you guys not being deterred from getting the real honest to goodness news regardless the cost or difficulties achieving your goal.
The wild fire that swept through parts of Alberta were devastating, and the fact that money was taken out of fighting fires was incredibly hard to understand. Lives at risk, properties, industry, cities, towns, villages going up in flames and no equipment to fight the fires because they shut down a huge part of the service that fight these fires in a Province notorious for wildfires.. That goes beyond simple mistakes. Allot of effort has to go into not renewing contracts and shutting down industry that provide safety to our Country regardless of where. This is BAD GOVERNMENT, and it really is that simple.
They either deliberately sabotaged Alberta from fighting wildfires, or they had no clue as to what they were doing, either way its criminal negligence and steps to reimburse all those who lost property, were injured or whatever other consequences they fell victim too must be a top priority to settle.
I can’t think of a good reason why this happened, and the reason given by the NDP are poor excuses at best. If they needed to make cuts this was not the service to cut, and has cost an un-measurable amount because they did.
Its mistakes like these that are the reasons people have no faith in Government. Its one of many mistakes that have been made over the last year and half that are costing us dearly. Its time we started forcing Government to be accountable for mistakes that are affecting our security whether that be from wildfires, or welcoming terrorists, to open borders we are at risk and thats not acceptable.

Keith said, "Forest was torched, shall we say, by persons unknown. "

I agree. If I am not mistaken, the fire started it two separate spots, NW of town and SE of town. An there was no lightning at all. I could be wrong about that, but I am fairly certain.

Forest was torched, shall we say, by persons unknown.

Just a passing thought, dose Notley have any Muslims in her Government? I ask because, the fact that Trudeau has eleven of these people in his Government, made me wonder if the problem was widespread.

Perhaps it is time to Shuffle the Deck.

Well when you vote in communists one can hardly expect anything less. Control the media, control the narrative and shut down free speech. Slowly Canadians are coming out of hibernation and starting to understand what fake news, no news and biased news is all about and the opposite world we live in. The lefty smackdown in Canada might be more of a slow crawl but it’s happening and if the NDP and Trudeau’s liberals don’t start to realize that they are the true fringe then it will be to their detriment. Let’s hope.

Great report Sheila. Keep digging. The support for Rebel Media will continue to grow, and MSM outlets are definitely worried.

Billy
if that happens we Canadians will Rebel. Open up under another name or address. If Turdo thinks he can shut us up he has another thing coming. The whole country is already POed. Never have I seen and heard such disdain for both the Federal and provincial governments. Millions in law suits. well the advantage we have is our judiciary moves at glacial speed. By the time it went to court Justurd will be out of office.

Class action lawsuit. Government information we pay for cost the Rebel $4,000.Why is this not public information. Sounds like extortion to me. Freedom of information is not free. Glad to see the incompetent
F$$ks exposed for what they are. Lock her UP!

Good job Sheila and the Rebel team. Looking forward to more in-depth analysis and investigations into stories that don’t fit the MSM narrative and political propaganda.
But unfortunately, when Trudeau gets M103 passed along with the subsequent legislation, RebelMedia is going to go out of business through the onslaught of legal suits against them by the Fed gov’t, including the levy of fines for $millions to assure bankruptcy. I wouldn’t put it past JT to even arrest Ezra and others on the Rebel team.
Under Our Dear Leader, freedom of the press is going to be a thing of the past.
