Ezra Levant: “Sorry, Tony Clement, but there's no ‘treatment’ for being a reckless, irresponsible fool”

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Strange and disappointing news from Tony Clement, the former Conservative cabinet minister and leadership contender.

Last night, during the distraction of the U.S. midterm election night, Clement put out this press release, saying:

"Over the last three weeks, I have shared sexually explicit images and a video of myself to someone who I believed was a consenting female recipient. The recipient was, in fact, an individual or party who targeted me for the purpose of financial extortion. The RCMP are currently investigating the matter to determine the identity of the party responsible for the extortion attempt.”

That press release was sent out by the Conservative Party, and eight minutes later, Andrew Scheer sent out an e-mail accepting his resignation from shadow cabinet.

Now, Clement said he was contrite.

But he deployed a little bit of unconservative excusology.

He started off well:

“I recognize now that I have gone down a wrong path and have exercised very poor judgment. First and foremost, I apologize to my family for the needless pain and humiliation my actions have caused. I also apologize to my colleagues and my constituents for letting them down.”

But then he added this:

"I am committed to seeking the help and treatment I need in my personal life to make sure this will not happen again while also continuing to discharge my duties as a Member of Parliament.”

Well, look, it’s not “treatment”. You don’t have a disease that makes you do that. Maybe you have a character flaw, or a predilection. But don’t say you need treatment — like you came down with the flu, or cancer. This didn’t happen to you. You did it, you chose to do it.

But soon after Clement made his confession, a number of young women on Twitter chimed in, saying whoever was extorting Clement — well, that wasn’t the first person to make his intimate acquaintance online. WATCH my video to see the examples.

Now, this could be gossip, but it rings true. And today, Scheer changed his stance — he wasn’t just accepting Clement’s resignation from shadow cabinet, he was kicking him out of the caucus altogether.

I think Clement is right — his first apology belongs to his wife and family; and the next belongs to all the girls he apparently hit on over the years — it looks like he targeted politically interested young girls.

Maybe he was inspired, in a bad way, by the promiscuous Patrick Brown, whose philandering finally caught up with him. Maybe Clement thought: why can’t I do what Brown did?

Well, you’re married, for one thing, unlike Brown. And secondly, Brown’s reputation was so widely known, that Stephen Harper simply did not promote him to any position of responsibility during his term as an MP. He wasn’t trustworthy, or serious, or whatever.

Tony Clement, by contrast, held high offices in government, had responsibilities, and confidences. And in fact, Justin Trudeau himself appointed Clement to a new, high-security committee, called the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians.

He was one of only two conservative MPs trusted with that position.

And he would cruise Instagram looking to sext with young girls? What kind of risky conduct is that? So he’s being extorted — is this for the first time? How would we know?

It’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing to all of those people who loved him and relied on him personally. But that’s between him and his wife and kids.

But what kind of fool is trusted with the country’s most sensitive national secrets — and then puts himself in a blackmail able position like that?

Yeah, sorry Tony, there’s no “treatment” for being a reckless, irresponsible fool. You didn’t just put your own reputation at risk — you put our public safety at risk, you who had been given everything by the Canadian people.

There’s nothing conservative about that.

The big difference between Clement’s “addiction” and actual dependencies like alcoholism and drug addiction is that in this case, Clement’s ahem, exposure, has brought his weenie-waving to an abrupt end. There will be no relapse.

Surely the risible behaviour of the American Weiner served as a lesson for all politicians—but, it seems to have become the model. If there are more in this category in the Canadian Parliament, for the good of all, please resign your seat now and say you wish to spend more time with your family. Then do so.

To suggest that addiction is something that cannot be controlled or overcome because it is defined as a disease is shortsighted and irresponsible.

Mike said, “If he genuinely came clean in order to avoid being in an extortable position, and hasn’t committed any crimes, the rest of the problem is between him and his family, and I don’t think that it needs to concern us all that much.”

it concerns the people because:
1) he is in a position of serving the people as an elected representative
2) his actions speak to his character and his character is what drives his service to the people that voted for him.

“You don’t have a disease that makes you do that.” Said nobody ever that’s familiar with addictions.

You can be addicted to literally anything. Sex, gambling, running, exercising, coffee, drugs, pornography, eating, almost anything you can think of. Addictive behavior is the same across all spectrums with only the trigger being different.

To suggest addiction is not a disease is shortsighted and irresponsible.

JT should also have stepped down but didn’t!! Clements did the right thing by stepping down and Scheer did the right thing by kicking him out. Truly he will be punished for the rest of his life. I’m waiting patiently to see whose behind the extortion Soros maybe?? Aga??

That is it in a nutshell – anything endorsed or approved by Trudeau should be viewed with great skepticism.

I am betting the main stream news is not bringing up the Trudeau grope incident at all during this news segment.

It has been said pornography is the no. 1 addiction. These figures were from 2004. .

It is too bad that even people of experience who should have gained much wisdom over the years’ especially when they are in the public eye and hold high office cannot reason with themselves’ that their basic instincts and desires absolutely have to be controlled especially in volatile areas of sexual temptation! A high level Politician has to be aware that they are a high level target especially by people who are looking for persons’ like himself who in all likelihood have the access and means of funds to be able to pay an extortion or blackmail fee, while their character and reputation are one of the most valuable assets to a Politician such as Tony Clement and the Extortionist knows that they have a powerful means of persuasion over him once they have the act of the sexting or infraction recorded.

Now not only with the power and threat to his Political career – the loss of confidence in him by his Constituents, the loss of Trust from the public who followed Tony Clement as a Conservative – but also the Extortionist possesses’ the Power and Threat to his marriage, loss of his Family and the hurt and pain, embarrassment that this will cause family!

At this point the Black Mailer or Black Mailers’ believe Tony Clement will have more incentive to pay to cover-up the destructive evidence than to bring it forward and have his present life ruined!

I must say Mr. Clement I am disappointed that a professional like yourself would take such an incredible risk whereby you must be aware that there are people in the world just looking for such a sting?

It is too bad the better Angels’ weren’t able to warn you! This trap is as old as time it-self.

I will give you credit though, it takes a Great amount of Intestinal Fortitude to come forward before the Extortion gets worse and it shows’ me that you are a man of much more conscience and truth than say for example, former President Bill Clinton. So you need to be given credit for that and – lets’ hope the Police identify and charge the party that has committed this crime – so others’ lives are not ruined

It is a Tragic thing to happen when our base human desires’ for pleasure, can destroy everything we have worked for all our lives!

I am disappointed while, at the same time am Sorry this happened!
May the Good Lord help you get back on your feet and to regain your life!

God Bless

Peter Netterville-
Sexual Conservatism is based on love & equality between 2 consenting adults.
Love multiplies & evil destroys itself.
Sadly, the vice of promiscuity is common on the Left & Right if you remember what Diefenbaker did.
These days political office is no longer treated as a civil service but rather a reward. Self rewarding with no bounds in some cases.
Sounds like our political elite would benefit from learning what true sacrifce of a loved one really means this Remembrance day.
Maybe they need to hear the pain of greiving wives and parents that gave away everything to bear a crippling pain because of their true love & sacrifice.
Just some perspective.

Excellent commentary.
You cannot be a philanderer of any sort and uphold the responsibilities of national security.
Frankly, any task in parliament or one that requires a security clearence.
I don’t care how lonely or stressed out a man really is. Anyone with a genuine love interest would not jeopardize the reputation of the person they cared for. No matter the discrepency of status.
Shame on Tony Clement for being so selfish. Sad everybody else had a price to pay.

Well what could go wrong!

Justin Trudeau has one of his own cabinet ministers moonlighting as a vice chair on some committee in China. Working with the communist party McKenna could never be blackmailed. How did that security check work out…I mean for China?

Disappointing. That is the type of behavior that is most often common to the left.

Where are the real Conservatives? Few and far between.
