YouTube’s new censorship rules target The Rebel: But we have a plan — and you can help

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

We have more than 850,000 YouTube subscribers. That makes us one of the biggest YouTube news channels in the world — by far the biggest in Canada.

But YouTube released a new policy this week.

It’s “an update to fight terror content online,” and while it starts out talking about terrorism, it quickly moves on to what YouTube calls “controversial” ideas.

Well, all our content at The Rebel is “controversial,” especially to thin-skinned whiners on the left.

Here’s more from the YouTube announcement:

“[W]e have begun working with more than 15 additional expert NGOs and institutions (…) including the Anti-Defamation League, the No Hate Speech Movement, and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. These organizations bring expert knowledge of complex issues like hate speech.”

The ADL has already fingered us, remember? Their recent report on the "alt-right" named The Rebel three times.

So do you think we have a few months left on YouTube? Maybe a few days?

I’m certain it’s coming. That's why I’ve got a plan:

We’re going to build a free app.

This software application will let you watch The Rebel on your smart phone — iPhone or Android — your laptop, or smart TV, like Roku or Apple TV.

Among many other features, it will also have all our TV shows behind the paywall. (We’re launching NEW premium shows after Labour Day, so the timing is perfect.)

Most importantly, we’ll own this app outright, so no one like Youtube can have power over us.

And no one can have that power over you, and what you watch.

But we don’t have the budget to build this app on our own.

That’s why we need your help.

Developing the app is going to cost us a lot of money. You can read the breakdown of our budget at TheyCantStopUs.com.

But in short, the total is $302,000. That's the biggest expense we’ve ever had at The Rebel.

By the way, that's also what the CBC spends, of your tax dollars, in only one hour and 45 minutes. I did the math.

And if we were the CBC, we would just take your money from your taxes — $1.5 billion a year. We can’t. We’re 100 per cent reliant on our viewers. Which is why we are so careful with our spending, and so attentive to what people want to hear.

And that’s precisely why they want to stop us.

We know we can raise this money with your help:

To get the breakdown of our $302,000 budget, and learn about the perks for donors, go to TheyCantStopUs.com.

Please help The Rebel live — and thrive. Thank you!

NEXT: The Rebel's Faith Goldy and I talk more about YouTube censorship, and why The Rebel needs to build this app so we can keep bringing you the other side of the story.

THEN: Our own Tommy Robinson comes on to talk about his new book Mohammed's Koran, which shot to the #1 spot at Amazon.co.uk, and is a bestseller on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca too.

Ezra Levant and the like won’t tell you what Kevin Johnston said in one of his Freedom Report videos:

“It is time for us to take our masculinity back and beat the living hell out of these [Muslims]. Pin them down on the ground, and beat them until they pass out. And when they’re passed out, you beat them further; and when they’re on the ground passed out, kick them, break a kneecap, break an elbow, press their hands backwards turn their wrists sideways, start breaking these guys down.”

Johnston was recently charged under Section 319(2) of the Criminal Code because he is promoting hatred and advocating violence, NOT because he is criticizing Islam.

Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt,

Yes Jimmy, I know it was a left-wing jab, fake preview! lol

Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt,

Yes, we all know that conservatives lack a sense of humor and that’s why there are not any funny conservative comedians.

Jimmy, how much did you contribute to SpeerKids.com?

Jimmy Reece, you are about as funny as a tapeworm feeding off a 5 year old!
What passes as funny in your realm, comes off as someone with a disordered personality in mine; call it education; training and past work experience with dual disordered clients. Today’s Liberalism really is a mental illness!

Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt,

Thanks for proving my point before about how weak minded and easily led you are. You lack the logic and reason that would assist you in not taking things seriously like someone saying that they are God.

Thanks again!

Jimmy Reece, your narcissistic claim of being God is not unusual for the mentally ill.
Neurotics build castles in the sky, psychotics live in them!

Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt,

You missed mine. Let me try again – God has MANY names.

Jack Cloverdale, Jimmy Reece, Jack Carter and all the other handles you have used. You missed my point.

Jimmy Reece, Jack Carter said the same thing! Your narcissistic personality always blows it for you! Time for a new pseudonym!

Google owns Android. And if Google bans the rebel on Android, then the app will be useless for Android users.

If the rebel just hosted its own video content, then it would not have to rely on you tube. You don’t need an app to do this.

Jimmy Reece CBC said he made only 80,000 a year, the real amount is even on Canadaland that you push for people to visit, do you even visit it yourself?
commented 2017-08-04 00:36:12 -0400
Jimmy Reece sorry the Rebel does not have to tell you anything. Who the hell are you to demand anything from them?

Jimmy Reece tell me what Peter Mansbridge has made over the last ten years?

Space Moose Google does not own the internet.
commented 2017-08-03 18:26:04 -0400
The app won’t fix anything if Google cracks down on the rebel. Not that I think that Google is going to shut down the rebel on you tube.

If Google does shut down the channel, then we should be building something new. Because if they don’t, then we will just be wasting money.

As an alternative to Youtube and twitter, have you looked into Gab.ai? They allow for video production streaming/archive and “tweets”. They could also be the next big thing if Twitter and Youtube go full out anti-free speech.

I have contributed for your creation of a new app which I think is a good idea. I am using apps from other organizations to get my news and I love them. I will not let those billionaire dictators and our prime criminister empty-headed islam-lover bastard erase my freedom that easily.

Andrew Mirlach commented 23 mins ago “For the Left, truth is no defense. What they want to do is silence their ideological foes. That’s all."

I heard recently that the Left is giving up on throwing “racist”, “bigot” and “Islamophobic” at people they oppose, since these words are starting to lose their impact. Apparently, they’re using the terms “Far right” and “Alt-right” to describe anyone from the centre and right of centre they disagree with. This is why we see so many references to words “Alt-right” which the ADL used to define the Rebel. The other words they’re using are “Nazi” and “Fascist”. There area lot of online articles referring to the Rebel as “far right” or “Alt-right.”

wonder if that includes and the islamics spewing their hate for the Jews and every other non muslim group on the planet, their threats to bring us all down and to kill us all off as I have seen on numerous youtube posts , or if that only applies to people sharing these posts and talking about the facts of islamic indoctrination and conquer??

“For the Left, truth is no defense. What they want to do is silence their ideological foes. That’s all. The problem with the increasingly mainstream concept that “hate speech is not free speech” is that what exactly constitutes “hate speech” is a subjective judgment, often based on the political proclivities of the person doing the judging.” https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/07/youtube-bans-video-on-muslim-brotherhood-sharia-and-civilization-jihad-as-hate-speech There have been science based methods to analyse “hate speech” online. They are however aimed solely at the right and “anti-Islamic” speech. For this to be valid science it would also have to look at the glaringly obvious hate speech coming from Islamic sources. It carefully chooses the words searched for to produce a politically one sided result. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/301409214_Sentiment_classification_of_online_political_discussions_a_comparison_of_a_word-based_and_dependency-based_method I would be really interested in seeing an unbiased version of this program run, because the so called “No Hate Speech Movement” has filtered the results so it ignores hate speech from Islamic sources.

Dinesh D’Souza, (mentioned below) is a little like Tommy Robinson After Dinesh made a particularly revealing movie about Obama, even going to Africa to interview his family and step brother, George, the US govt took action, searched through his personal files, and finally discovered that he’d asked two friends to each make a $10,000 donation to the political campaign of one of his college friends, then reimbursed them. This put the amount he gave over the legal limit. For this crime, he was sentenced to eight months in a halfway house with drug dealers and murderers who were waiting to be released. This shows how the state treats those who threaten it.

Jimmy Reece. Everyone and every business in Canada has to file tax returns and can be audited by Revenue Canada. We all get to operate under the assumption of innocence like it or not.

Yes Ezra is being paranoid. And if he is going to get taken down on you tube, he will also be taken down on Android and maybe apple too. This app will not fix the censorship. It will only cost money and waste time.

If push came to shove, I think I would rather Ezra go text only on this website.
