Economists, entrepreneurs challenge Ontario Liberals’ lies about minimum wage

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

(Jerry Agar guest hosts for Ezra Levant tonight...) The Ontario Liberals are going to hike the minimum wage by 32 per cent in 18 months. How are businesses reacting?

One restaurateur told me:

“I will likely not go out of business because of the minimum wage. But I will change my practices drastically and the losers will be students who cannot find part time work, the government who will receive less taxes (and CPP, EI), and again the government who will likely see a lot of other businesses have people working under the table…”

This man’s letter demonstrated the pain he feels, having to make decisions like this. He is far from the greedy, uncaring entrepreneur so many people portray employers to be.

The truly self-interested are those in government who will do and say anything to get re-elected.

One paid apologist for the Liberals actually told me on the radio that, “40 per cent of working people in Ontario are earning at or below minimum wage.”

That is shockingly untrue.

Statistics Canada says as of 2014, 10.9 per cent of Ontarians earned minimum wage, and most were high school and university students.

Kathleen Wynne is counting on people who do not own businesses, who never met a payroll, to make themselves feel morally superior because they support a so-called fair wage...

NEXT: Al Gore is back with a sequel to his junk science "documentary" An Inconvenient Truth.

This movie is bombing at the box office — have people finally had it with Gore's blatant hypocrisy?

Not everyone: An influential American magazine insists that Gore's "carbon footprint" "doesn't matter." WATCH as I debunk their argument about "carbon offsets."

TONIGHT'S GUESTS: Progressive Conservative Energy Critic Todd Smith explains why the liberals are overpaying on their new hydro deal; then Claudia Rosett, Senior Fellow at the Independent Women's Forum, tells us what's really going on between the U.S. and North Korea.

Ontario’s real GDP grew one per cent in the first quarter of 2017, outperforming that of Canada, the United States and all other G7 countries.

Private-sector forecasters project that, on average, Ontario’s real GDP will increase 2.7 per cent in 2017, up from the 2.4 per cent projection at the time of the 2017 Budget.

The latest data shows that as of July 2017, Ontario’s unemployment rate is 6.1 per cent. The province’s unemployment rate has been below the national average for 28 consecutive months.

Drew, I would make a roast beef sandwich with horseradish mayo & lots of ground pepper on sourdough bread; with a side order of bacon.

Sorry Drew I’ve had trouble making decisions lately. I’d probably grab some popcorn and think on it.

Bacon and tomato.

Anything that isn’t halal.

As for DREW’S sandwich query…..Mine would be ham and cucumber. Ham for shahada Justin, and the cucumber for the bone rack. As long as she hadn’t ridden it yet.

Drew asked, “What kind of sandwich do you make?”

Ham and cheddar.

I make a pork sandwich.

So….drive up unemployment among no-skilled jobs because of automation?

Wynne bans robots in Ontario. Auto industry moves to the US. Unemployment reaches 65% and Wynne claims victory because the carbon-foot is now zero.

Declares herself lesbian-leader for life and all of Ontario finally realizes that a nut is in charge.

I have a good moral dilemma for everyone, and remember , your answer says a lot about your character so answer wisely: You are in Toronto on Pride day and one sharia patrol is about to behead Justin for being in the parade, and another sharia patrol is about to throw Wynne off of a building for being a lesbian. You come to the stark realization that you can only save one of them , so i ask you this:
What kind of sandwich do you make?

Hey trolls and green phonies-if the whole world bought carbon credits them would there be no carbon concerns? If you say no then it proves they are nothing.

If Al Gores carbon footprint does not matter then why does anyone elses? I have actually planted trees in my life unlike Gore and his phony credits which mean absolutely nothing.

Maybe someone should tell the thieves called refugees, coming into Canada through the US, that they are putting themselves at risk of receiving a nuclear bomb on the head from North Korea. Nobody can be sure that Kim Jojo will not miss his target. Fox mentioned that they could target Los Angeles but it would end up on San Francisco. So if he wants to hit New York or Chicago as he said, he may land here in Canada.

The Fraser Institute has been warning us about high minimum wage hikes for 12 years. Even the people receiving the increases lose as many are laid off.
Usually missing from the discussion is the group that now receive $15. or 16. per hour. They are skilled or experienced; shouldn’t they deserve a few dollars more than the kids that know nothing? It is a never ending circle that only adds to inflation.

Edward said, "What I think is insane is how Ontario has paid to others to take our excess energy. "

And then buys more from Quebec. Insanity for sure.

I certainly hope we’re not all going to die. I feel sorry for President Trump. The Korean dictator is clearly a madman who desperately needs to be stopped and yet it will be President Trump who gets all the criticism no matter what he does.

I’m glad La Presse leaked this negotiation. The arrogance of socialists is truly astounding, Wynne couldn’t imagine how Ontarians would react to this horrible deal, and she loves to lock things up for at least twenty years. Given her thievery as Premier, that should be her minimum sentence in a federal prison.

The vast majority of people are dumb in that they never question anything the govt says. And that is exactly why the Liberals get voted in time after time. A good example was an interview on the street with a woman of about 45 before the federal election. When asked about Trudeau’s ability she said " Well lets vote him in and see how he does" And that is who the voters are on the left

- Canada seems to be late to the game when it comes to adopting failed policies. The “green” agenda, fight for 15, ect., have been tried & failed elsewhere already. The fight for 15 is designed to put students out of work so the government can step in & “save” them with free (subsidized) university & college.

- Given the Ontario Liberal energy policy the province will pay top dollar for Quebec electricity which will then be sold to the US for a huge loss.

- Up until now North Korea rattles it’s saber & the response has been strongly worded letters & useless sanctions – then North Korea goes back to developing its’ nuclear & missile programs. They need to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

- Climate cultists require a high level of ignorance to maintain the illusion they’re selling to the public. The left has become to home of hypocrisy – environmentalist never protest Russia, China or OPECPETA has no problem with wind turbines killing birds & bats – it was the mainstream media that created the term “fake news” – etc.. They aren’t called useful idiots for nothing.
