SPECIAL: The future of The Rebel — Will you stand with us?

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

It’s been a rough week for The Rebel. Everyone says so: The Toronto Star, the National Post... There have been 30 different stories saying the same thing.

Some people have quit us, like Brian Lilley. National Post columnists were told not to come on our shows.

Norwegian Cruise Line ripped up the tickets for our cruise because we’re “conservative.”

For the past four days, our website was unavailable in most of the world when a DNS provider (that's part of the internet) would no longer allow a partner to host our domain.

Even so-called conservative politicians like Andrew Scheer are blacklisting us.

It started when our reporter, Faith Goldy, went to a protest in Charlottesville, Virginia. I explained the whole story last week.

Then, as I told you earlier, two disgruntled former Rebel staffers in the UK tried to extort a massive severance payment from me.

Today, though, we’re back up on 96 per cent of the Internet now. We’ve lost about two per cent of our YouTube subscribers, and the same percentage of premium subscribers.

I won’t lie to you:

I was sad last week because I felt I had let our team down, along with our hundreds of thousands of viewers and tens of thousands of financial supporters.

I am here to apologize, to tell you what I did wrong, and take responsibility.

The Rebel is in genuine jeopardy, but tonight I'm here to to tell you that our future is up to you.

If you want us to live, please go to and let us know, especially my staff.

Next: We’re going to make some changes. Not because 30 journalists hate us, but because we need to fix a few things if we’re going to get to the next level.

First, we need to bring in more management help to run the business side The Rebel, so I can do what I’m good at — journalism and activism. That's why today we’ve retained a professional corporate recruiter to find another manager.

Second, when we were small, I used to watch every single video before we put it online. Now we need more oversight, to make sure we’re on brand with what we believe, what we stand for. So we also need what’s called a managing editor.

We're going to reboot with a new team, new talent, new journalists, new TV shows. Not to prove anything to our haters — I promise you they’ll hate our new reporters as much as they hated the old ones. But to prove to you, our viewers and supporters, that we haven’t lost it.

Our Managing Producer, Hannah Vanderkooy, will join me to tell you about our future editorial plans.

We're going to continue bringing you the other side of the story without taking a dollar from the government. We’re going to do it the same way we built the company — through your support, through crowdfunding.

Some people have asked me to disclose more about our crowdfunding. Why not? I’m extremely proud of it.

Tonight, Eitan Gilboord, our Community Manager, will take us through our crowdfunding campaigns in detail.

(See these documents at TheRebel.Media/Trust )

Please go to and tell me you still believe in me.

And then I need your help to pay for this new plan. (I’m proud to ask you this way, rather than by going to Trudeau for a bail-out, like Postmedia is doing, like the CBC does.)

We are Canada’s last, best chance at having any sort of conservative media.

Please go to

Help us come back stronger than ever, so we can keep on bringing you the other side of the story.

Thank you.

Rick Johnson,

I have lived in America and Europe. I have never felt more free than in my home of Canada.

According to a report in the Financial Post in April of this year, “Toronto home prices soar a record 33%, pushing average house to $916,000”. Sounds like there are a lot of millionaires in Toronto! Space Moose you come across as a double agent.

As traumatizing as these attacks against free speech and THEREBEL are, and have been, I keep telling myself this:
The intensity of the attack and the amount of resources thrown at the tearing-down of THEREBEL is relative to the abject and unrelenting FEAR the 5 P’s are experiencing from the THEREBEL disseminating THE TRUTH and giving voice to a silenced people!
I’d say they’re scared shitless…

I will remain a staunch ally while THEREBEL continues to do it’s job…which is to speak the truth in the face of the lies and treason of those 5 Ps, and to provide a voice for this beleaguered Canadian citizen…

And thank you all very much for doing what you do.

With out Ezra & the Rebel we the people who chose not to bury our heads in the sand would be f#cked !!
I have no problem & actually hope Ezra becomes rich from the Rebel he & his staff are far more deserving of it then anyone from the MSM !

I read somewhere that the rebel has about 5000 premium subscribers. Assuming they are annual subs, then that is $400 K per year. Now add the you tube ads and the ads that appear on this website. Does anybody actually buy any of the rebel store merchandise?

For the longest time I wondered about how Ezra was able to run the rebel and be profitable. I think of how many staff he has, his overhead, and where the money comes from. If he is a millionaire, then there are other revenue streams that we do not know about. If Caolan is right, then Ezra must have some big backers.

Not that I have objection to rich people forking over a lot of money to Ezra.

It is that Ezra seems to make it look like the rebel is going to go bankrupt all the time. And next thing we know, Caolan accuses Ezra of being a millionaire.

I really don’t know about Faith’s situation but I don’t dig into everybody’s personal lives and situations.
commented 2017-08-23 12:02:42 -0400
Space Moose: I agree about Faith. I don’t believe for a minute she is a white supremacist or neo Nazi but it was a huge mistake and she got totally played.

Hmm. 1.5 million raised, at an average of 78 dollars each? That implies a financial support base of 20,000. I would have guessed three times that. Really puts some context into the 900,000 youtube.

I notice the rampant Islamophobia has toned down lately, possibly because they realize they can’t be blatant racists while pretending not to be?

Ezra. It’s time to call liberals what they are.
60,000,000 so far
Remind them who Margaret Sanger was.
A white supremacist.
Why don’t they identify the real nazis and the real genocide?
Tear down Planned Parenthood instead of confederate statues

Ron Voss: And yet no one had a problem when Trudeau expressed his admiration for the bloodiest regime in history. China murdered millions of it’s own people. In fact they voted him Prime Minister but why should the CBC trouble themselves over something so insignificant as praise of murderous dictators. Trudeau called the murderous Castro a remarkable leader but later he admitted he was a polarizing figure and there was some concerns about human rights. “Ya Think”? “Some concerns about human rights”? So what does he call the holocaust? a miss step? And that is the CBC’s golden boy? And they want to pass themselves off as some kind of moral authority?
commented 2017-08-23 11:55:25 -0400
Ezra was right to fire faith. But I suspect he is keeping his real reasons out of sight of the public. I have no objection to faith covering the protest. It was how she did it that concerned me. If you have not seen the full video, faith was being sympathetic to the alt right. She came off the same way when she was on the white supremacist podcast too.

So in other words, faith deserved to get fired.

The only person that got fired that I wish did not happen was Lauren.

On the issue of removing the Asian Robert Lee because of his name one twitter user said “What better way to combat racism than removing an Asian because of his name”. Point made. This is the problem when you let the mob rule.

The CBC keeps up its fixation and assault on the Rebel on its radio program The Current, asking “Is there a future for right-wing Rebel Media?”
“Right-wing”? I am sick of the ‘progressive’ media imposing such caricature on conservatives, tied to the Big Lie that Nazis and fascists are on the right on the political spectrum, when in fact they belong on the far left with their political cousins the socialists and communists. Conservatives need to stop being “suckers” (words of Dinesh D’Souza, author of timely new book, The Big Lie) and buying into this lie. The Rebel is an outlet for providing another side of the story from a conservative (not right-wing or as some have even used the ridiculous accusation that the Rebel is “hard-right” or “far- right”) perspective. Don’t buy into the left’s narrative.
National Post writer Richard Warnica, who penned the recent profile on Rebel Media and Ezra, acknowledged that the Rebel’s, “business model is harder to disrupt than most traditional media organizations because they get money directly from their audience”. One could ask the question, “Is there a future for the ‘progressive’ left-wing CBC if taxpayers weren’t forced to financial keep it afloat?”

I don’t know much of the author Napoleon Hill, but this quote of his seems appropriate, “Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.”

Count me in Lloyd. Rebels in agreement need to press Ezra on her behalf.

GOD Will forgive me for a thousand million things – hopefully
Couldn’t we forgive FAITH for a few things !?

Yes it would be nice to get FAITH BACK !!!

I’m really disappointed with the Hollywood establishment who like to portray themselves as heroes in the movies. Champions who fight overwhelming odds to stand up for the little guy and supposedly inspire us to fight for freedom only to find out they are acting more like the Nazis than the liberators. Content to smear people with ridiculous accusations and associations (like firing an Asian guy because his name is Robert Lee or accusing Jews of being Nazis or calling a black man a white supremacist or beating a bald man because his hair cut was thought to look like a Neo Nazi) and the press who are supposed to do investigative journalism are content to be the patsy for politicians and join in the chorus as society descends madness. This will be our generation’s internment camp parallel when we look back in history if it hasn’t been scrubbed clean before anyone can see it.
commented 2017-08-23 08:55:15 -0400
I’ve been a Rebel supporter since day one. I’ve never been embarrassed by that association. Of course I’ll continue to support The Rebel. If the path was easy we’d be on the wrong one.
commented 2017-08-23 08:50:15 -0400
Ezra, you have done an amazing job with the Rebel.
If you are asking for forgiveness then you need to forgive those who made mistakes as well.
Faith blundered in Charlottesville, but had a great interview with Stefan Molyneux and was spot on.
Time for a little reflection and calm.
The healing of your Team and Fan base starts with forgiveness. That’s Leadership.
best wishes

Oh yeah and being a millionaire in Toronto just means you own an average home.
commented 2017-08-23 07:37:22 -0400
Soros makes billions shorting the currencies of entire nations.
The Toronto MSM makes tons of cash selling fake news.
Justin and Butts will make millions on their salaries and gold plated pensions in exchange for driving our country into the ditch.
Ezra on the other hand needs to live in his parents basement?
commented 2017-08-23 06:47:15 -0400
So Ezra is a millionaire? If George Soros, Justin Trudeau and the left wing Toronto media have him in their sights, he must be doing something right. Quite frankly, he has earned it.
commented 2017-08-23 04:15:15 -0400
This just dawned upon me now. Did Ezra really need to come out and say that he fired Lauren? So at the very least, Caolan was right in Lauren getting fired. I wonder if Caolan was right when he said that Ezra made rebel staff cry. Did Ezra make Lauren cry?

I am trying to wonder what Lauren did or did not do to justify getting fired. She was clearly committed to the job. She did move all the way from the west coast just to work at rebel HQ. Even though she is not with the rebel any more, I always watch her videos on her channel or the Brittany Pettibone channel.

On the topic of firing, did faith get severance and had to sign some sort of non disclosure agreement?

And why did Brian Lilley get to keep his inflated job title, even though he was reduced to just a freelance contributor? Did the relationship between Brian and Ezra get that bad? If I were in Ezra’s shoes, I would have said more about Brian. I hope the rebel got him a good retirement plan, since Brian really hates CPP.

On a side note, this was not the first time we got to see Eitan. He made a video a while back. I do hope that he makes some more videos.

And lastly, is Ezra really a millionaire, as Caolan claimed in his video? Remember when Ezra made his big plan video? HE said that he emptied out his life savings of about $100 grand. Now is the rebel really so profitable that he is now a millionaire?

Liza Rosie,
Canada is already strong and free.

Not if people like YOU keep up their mindless agenda for UTOPIA!!
commented 2017-08-23 02:16:16 -0400

I wouldn’t be embarrassed to have Faith on my arm walking through the Pearly Gates!!! (if i get there)
She made a bad choice – that does not make her BAD!

Let’s get that App going!
I’ll still be here.

Dear Sarah,
You are only free as long as someone with the correct political view does not get offended by what you say. There are countless examples of students on campuses being bullied into silence by their professors and cohorts because they dared to challenge their groupthink.
There are also no certainties that I would remain free if I tried to forcefully prevent an intruder from entering my property or worse; harming my family. There is a high likelihood that I would be charged if said intruder received injuries by my hand.
I agree that we do enjoy many liberties in Canada; liberties that none of us should take for granted nor squander away in the pursuit of a Utopian Ideal.

Was. Canada’s borders are being breached. A strong country has strong borders and a free country considers demographics to be important. Canada has no government taking these things seriously.
