SPECIAL: The future of The Rebel — Will you stand with us?

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

It’s been a rough week for The Rebel. Everyone says so: The Toronto Star, the National Post... There have been 30 different stories saying the same thing.

Some people have quit us, like Brian Lilley. National Post columnists were told not to come on our shows.

Norwegian Cruise Line ripped up the tickets for our cruise because we’re “conservative.”

For the past four days, our website was unavailable in most of the world when a DNS provider (that's part of the internet) would no longer allow a partner to host our domain.

Even so-called conservative politicians like Andrew Scheer are blacklisting us.

It started when our reporter, Faith Goldy, went to a protest in Charlottesville, Virginia. I explained the whole story last week.

Then, as I told you earlier, two disgruntled former Rebel staffers in the UK tried to extort a massive severance payment from me.

Today, though, we’re back up on 96 per cent of the Internet now. We’ve lost about two per cent of our YouTube subscribers, and the same percentage of premium subscribers.

I won’t lie to you:

I was sad last week because I felt I had let our team down, along with our hundreds of thousands of viewers and tens of thousands of financial supporters.

I am here to apologize, to tell you what I did wrong, and take responsibility.

The Rebel is in genuine jeopardy, but tonight I'm here to to tell you that our future is up to you.

If you want us to live, please go to and let us know, especially my staff.

Next: We’re going to make some changes. Not because 30 journalists hate us, but because we need to fix a few things if we’re going to get to the next level.

First, we need to bring in more management help to run the business side The Rebel, so I can do what I’m good at — journalism and activism. That's why today we’ve retained a professional corporate recruiter to find another manager.

Second, when we were small, I used to watch every single video before we put it online. Now we need more oversight, to make sure we’re on brand with what we believe, what we stand for. So we also need what’s called a managing editor.

We're going to reboot with a new team, new talent, new journalists, new TV shows. Not to prove anything to our haters — I promise you they’ll hate our new reporters as much as they hated the old ones. But to prove to you, our viewers and supporters, that we haven’t lost it.

Our Managing Producer, Hannah Vanderkooy, will join me to tell you about our future editorial plans.

We're going to continue bringing you the other side of the story without taking a dollar from the government. We’re going to do it the same way we built the company — through your support, through crowdfunding.

Some people have asked me to disclose more about our crowdfunding. Why not? I’m extremely proud of it.

Tonight, Eitan Gilboord, our Community Manager, will take us through our crowdfunding campaigns in detail.

(See these documents at TheRebel.Media/Trust )

Please go to and tell me you still believe in me.

And then I need your help to pay for this new plan. (I’m proud to ask you this way, rather than by going to Trudeau for a bail-out, like Postmedia is doing, like the CBC does.)

We are Canada’s last, best chance at having any sort of conservative media.

Please go to

Help us come back stronger than ever, so we can keep on bringing you the other side of the story.

Thank you.

CANADALAND asked George Llewelyn-John — one of the former Rebel contributors who blasted the company’s opacity in interviews last week — for his first impressions of the new “disclosure.”

“It’s a start,” he says in a message, “but it does seem to raise more questions than it answers. Given the number of people who have donated their hard-earned money to Rebel over the last two years, I had hoped for more.”

You’ve done an amazing job given that you started from zero in a new media. Ignore the naysayers in the MSM: they are just jealous of your independence. Stay Calm and Carry on.

Robert Mcclelland,

Oh The Rebel is doomed ultimately – Ezra is just a self destructive person and he can’t help himself, but sure he will try to make a go of this reboot for a while.

Aman D, You go and look in the mirror. What do you see? Ahh, nothing you say. A vampire has no reflection.

Ezra and Staff. Thanks for reporting on the truth. I like the mixture of professional journalism and activism. Do not beat up on yourselves. Save that for the lefty destroyers you expose. The Rebel Media is the only opposition voice we have in Canada. You have much support and we all depend upon each of you to continue delivering the truth. I cannot imagine how worse things would be in Canada without The Rebel.

You’re the Rebel with a cause Ezra, and those of us who have followed your career love your ability to get the stories out there. The stories that the powers that be do not want told. I will certainly remain with the Rebel, through thick and thin. The world is going to hell, and we need the life line for the news that you bring to us, since the MSM is in bed with our politicians, and global powers, in order to destroy our freedom and democracy! Go get them Ezra. I applaud your strength of character and your determination, and your ability to keep reinventing yourself. You are the voice for many of us. It isn’t just you they want to silence, it’s those of us who believe in truth and justice for all.

I don’t support the Rebel to feed my desire for slick polished reporting. I support the Rebel reporters because they are willing to risk their professional careers reporting unpopular stories that counter the mainstream’s biased narrative. When you handle explosive issues, understand and be prepared to have one go off in your hand every now and again. This last week witnessed a lot of public figures microphone rushing to denounce and distance themselves from players in an event that was still obscured. The dust had not yet settled and there were virtue-signalling calls for everyone to jump on the bandwagon of denouncement. This is truly evidence of the dismal state the west is in when politicians are more concerned with how their performance LOOKS than how they actually perform.
Ezra and team, you have my support.

So now Soros Sarah says that The Rebel will survive but will be “filtered”. She of “The Rebel is doomed…doomed I tell you.” Soros Sarah kind of reminds me of good old Tokyo Rose in WWII.

Okay gotta watch Trump now.

Ezra still has a lot to answer for. First the Caolan accusations:
- the petitions that are pressured on the rebel staff to start;
- the e-mail collection;
- the hush money for Caolan and his camera man;
- the real reason Lauren got fired;
- why Lauren and Jack got hush money;
- how Ezra started a free Laura fund raising campaign before Laura even got arrested;
- how Ezra was trying to drive somebody to kill himself by suing him;
- Caolan saying that he never secretly recorded Tommy;
- Ezra giving away Caolan’s address;
- the documentary that never happened;
- how Ezra was getting bank rolled to cover certain causes.

And why was there no mail bag?

Was the website really down for four whole days? The only thing I noticed was that it was down for max two days with only a different main page.

I hope Ezra has got something in place of the cruise.
commented 2017-08-22 22:07:22 -0400
Well Ezra does fit the bill of a televangelist always asking for more and more money even though they have enough already.

PETER BABICH: Did you just link Ezra Levant and the Rebel Media to biblical prophecy? Holy wacko!

Like Trump didn’t have some failures.
I remember when they blamed you for the demise of SNN and I laughed.
Obviously I don’t concern monetization.
I’m paying for a service.
I’ve gotten my money’s worth.
If there’s no alternative then there’s nothing.
Us and them.
Dates back to revelations.

Keep praying for peace.

Especially our nations leaders

On the Money. I’ve been in the Accounting/Financial field for 39 years and for over 30 of it running my own business and advising other small businesses. Some question where the money went? Frankly, my question has continued to be, how are you paying for all this?
commented 2017-08-22 21:49:59 -0400
I of course made a donation, but I also have no probem paying for content. I am not one of these everything I watch is free people. I pay for Netflix & movie channels, I think Rebel should have a few levels for people to support. Some may want the 8 bucks, others may be able to go as high a 10 or 20 bucks. This content is valuable & important & I might add the ONLY alternative we have to the perpetual vomit CBC & MSM put out. So I would definatey pay a higher monthly premium to have the Rebel media stay alive.

Not surprising that Trudeau’s office slammed the Rebel:
In a written statement, spokesman Cameron Ahmad said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had never before done an interview with Rebel, and, “neither he, nor our office, intend to.”
“Their coverage and behaviour have been wrong and inappropriate,” Ahmad said. “I leave it to other politicians who have chosen to engage with the Rebel to explain what motivated them to do so.”
I can understand why Trudeau would never appear on the Rebel as he would get no fawning like he receives from Rosemary Barton at the CBC and be challenged with more substantial questions than what kind of socks he happened to be wearing that day.
If PostMedia people have been ordered to stay away, I will miss Lorne Gunter especially. I talked to an employee of PostMedia this summer in Winnipeg and he acknowledged that PostMedia will be seeking funding from Trudeau. As the saying goes, ‘he who pays the piper calls the tune’.

It’s hilarious that Ezra launched a new “Rebel Media financial disclosure” page giving broad overviews of the company’s fundraising and expenses – but doesn’t actually disclose any detailed financial documents. It’s like a PowerPoint presentation of what Ezra wants people to see.

Is not the CBC a Canadian publicly owned company WHY CAN’T THEY SHOW THE BOOKS JUST LIKE THE REBEL JUST DID?
We have to keep the REBEL alive they are the only honest voice in the media.
The REBEL is going through a tough time with all the Bolsheviks crying for blood.
You who have dreams, if you act they will come true.
To turn your dreams to a fact, it’s up to you.
If you have the soul and the spirit,
Never fear it, you’ll see it thru,
Hearts can inspire, other hearts with their fire,
For the strong obey when a strong man shows them the way.

Give me some men who are stout-hearted men,
Who will fight, for the right they adore,
Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men,
And I’ll soon give you ten thousand more.
Shoulder to shoulder and bolder and bolder,
They grow as they go to the fore.
Then there’s nothing in the world can halt or mar a plan,
When stout-hearted men can stick together man to man.

Give me some men who are stout-hearted men,
Who will fight, for the right they adore,
Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men,
And I’ll soon give you ten thousand more.
Shoulder to shoulder and bolder and bolder,
They grow as they go to the fore.
Then there’s nothing in the world can halt or mar a plan,
When stout-hearted men can stick together man to man

Faith Goldy alligned herself with people in a country where political rallies are a literal bloodsport who chanted “Fuck you faggot” and “Jews will not replace us.” These are the repugnant people Rebel Media represents. The Toronto Sun and all it’s affilliates have denounced the rebel. The Conservative Party of Canada has denounced them.
commented 2017-08-22 21:38:31 -0400
I’ll always stand with the Rebel. It’s the only news source that one can trust in this day and age. I watched as the leftist dirtbags in the media ramped up their attacks and the more they smelled blood, the more they howled and pushed their fake news narrative about the Rebel. That just made me support it even more. I’m sorry that Brian Lilley turned out to be a cowardly back stabber and the various Post Media people who were ordered to stay away will be missed but perhaps thats best as they are part of the MSM and they must bark the rhetoric that their editors and owners demand. I don’t read their columns any longer. The “Conservative” politicians who refuse to be on your show are cowards also and I no longer have any respect for Scheer, Kenny or Jean. Don’t quit Ezra! Stay with it.

Ezra, great job of disclosure and debunking the lies of the extortionists and liars from the U.K. Good idea of adding a managinging editor to help the Rebel move forward strengthened after this setback which was also a humbling learning experience. Also good to show the quality of your people behind the scenes.

Rebel – The Other Side of the Story – I stand with you, and, made a donation.

Ezra, please consider having a meeting with Faith to discuss what happened and whether there is any possibility of her returning to work for you.

So, “they’re” trying to kill the Rebel. I don’t like “them” at all. Count me in for the long run with the Rebel. Ezra, it’s good to know you’ve got plans for expansion and a most positive outlook. The conservative voice in Canada needs this.
commented 2017-08-22 21:31:52 -0400
This show tonight clarifies a lot of what’s been going on behind the scenes over the past few days for me. I really needed that clarification. It also sheds considerable light on the character of Caolan Robertson. I’m happy to continue supporting the Rebel as a monthly subscriber. As a senior citizen whose only source of income is OAS & CPP, that’s the best I can do…. unfortunately. However, if, as predicted by the troll, Sarah Stallone, the Rebel ever did move to the left, I would cancel my monthly subscription immediately. But there’s no chance of that happening.
commented 2017-08-22 21:31:16 -0400
The Rebel is THE source of real conservative news and opinion in Canada. It would be a terrible loss if Trudeau and his globalist cabal make it disappear. Justin will be doing his best to destroy the Rebel with his continuous crackdown on free speech and freedom of the press.
We’re heading quickly down the path to Marxist dictatorship. What Trudeau calls “basic” dictatorship. I used to be ever optimistic, but now with CPC and civil liberty groups abandoning those freedoms, and the brown shirts (Antifa/BLM/ISIS) literally getting away with murder, I fear we will be losing those tenets of western civilization faster than I would ever have thought.
If the Rebel is finally silenced, it will be time to tune out the news media entirely because there will be no alternative to the brainwashing of the alt-left MSM.

I stand with Rebel, have watched Ez since Sun News. Rosemary Barfton is a liar, so is the pathetic PnP.

The msm(communist media) in Canada are attacking Ezra and the Rebel Organization…Damn right I’m with Ezra and The Rebel Media. Freedom of Speech is a must…no compromise.

I stand with the Rebel signed, shared on Facebook (I don’t really have a Twitter presence), donation made (I wish it were more).
