Does Trudeau really believe a carbon tax will make investors choose Canada over the U.S.?

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Do you think that, everything else being equal, an investor would rather come to a place where they will have to pay a higher tax? Is that how you act in your own life?

Justin Trudeau said as much yesterday in Calgary, about his own planned national carbon tax.

This is nuts.

The carbon tax is going to stop tens of billions of dollars of investments coming to Canada. Trudeau says industry really loves carbon taxes. I guess Statoil, the massive Norwegian oil company, didn’t get the memo. They just abandoned Canada.

So did Koch, the second-richest private company in America. Their vice president, David Koch, just met with Donald Trump. Do you think he was lobbying Trump for a carbon tax, or telling Trump to follow through on his campaign promise to cut the U.S. corporate tax rate from 35 per cent to 15 per cent?

It will be interesting, and dangerous, when Trump and Trudeau first meet.

Donald Trump is a builder, who has made 40 skyscrapers, and made fortunes, and lost them, and made them again.

And then you have a male model who thinks that a carbon tax will bring investment to the country.

Yeah, I’m worried about how that first meeting is going to go. Is there any way we can stop Trudeau from meeting Trump for a little longer — like maybe four years?

To talk more about how the carbon tax will harm Canada's economy, I'm joined by our Alberta Bureau Chief Sheila Gunn Reid, as well as the author of "The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels," Alex Epstein.

FINALLY: A preview of the speacial programming we'll be bringing you every day between now and January 2, 2017!

LEVITICUS 2013 commented: “Brad Trost is the most common sense man for the next prime minister of Canada.”

Perhaps, however it is a given that eastern Canada will never knowingly vote an evil Westerner into Ottawa. Weren’t we told by Justin Bin Elbow that only Quebeckers make the best leaders? In any case, the Lugenpresse will ensure a candidates origins will be presented to the gullible voters in the east along with whatever faux controversies they can fabricate! Methinks this country is headed for a civil war and/or breakup in reaction to the imposition of a “basic dictatorship” that Trudope admires so much!

Whatever it’s called, it is still a tax grab pure and simple, the destruction province and it’s main industry along with filling pockets of insiders is all that is going to happen!!

So I guess we should see the cement plants returning to B.C. real soon.

I guess BUTTS is living up to his name but we are the victims of his foolishness. We have to vote these morons out.

I actually think Trudeau really believes a carbon tax will make investors choose Canada over the U.S.?

If Gerald Butts says it, it must be so. I mean look at who else believes it Wynne, Nutley, the occupy group, and importantly the media arm of the Liebral Party, the CBC.

God, we are in trouble. This guy can not win another term.

Donald Bennett good point! Justin is a candidate for a psychological assessment if there ever was one. He is obviously unwell. Very sick puppy.

A lot of stars have to align in syzygy for that to happen and I hope upon hopes it happens, but I also have a tenacious string of doubt and despair weaving its’ way through that hope.

One of the worst things about a carbon tax is that many of the people that support it on the ground will complain when the price of everything goes up and I will have to hear them whine. The idea of a carbon tax doing anything to reduce carbon output only works to the extent that if people are poorer they will consume less since they have less -but would any of the clowns asking for a carbon tax ask for a “make me poorer” tax? Most people on the ground who support this do not have any idea of how it is supposed to work beyond a vague idea that “if you tax carbon less will be used,” when in fact it is like taxing water -no matter how expensive it is you will still pay for it.

I can just hear the crowing down the road when the country falls into ruin because of this faux climate CO2 tax bullshit and pm Dunce with his insane, and I mean INSANE immigration policies. We are rapidly becoming the only fools on the planet falling in line to this carbon tax lie. When its too late and we are bankrupt beyond repair the tune will be…."Oh. I didn’t vote liberal. and “I didn’t vote ndp”. Well SOMEBODY did. Let’s start with Atlantic Canada. What are you welfare citizens going to do now that Alberta is being sent to the trash heap? Who are you going to bleed for survival, especially if Come by Chance and whatever other few monetary drivers you have start struggling and eventually die out because of the carbon tax and all your new “visitors” that Justin’s libs are importing.(they are cheap to look after!!!!!) Then we have Quebec. Enough said. Then we have Ontario. What can you say? Our once proud country is being frittered away by ideological zealots and virtue seeking narcissists (Trudeau, Wynne and Notley) being the obvious culprits. I can’t believe the chatter that has come from the oil and mining sectors, some of which RON VOSS pointed out in his post. I detect PRESSURE (probably threats. bribes or other goodies) put on these industries by our crooked governments. I can’t wait to hear Nenshi’s words of wisdom a year from now after a year of Queen Wrinkle’s carbon tax. (that would be the one she never campaigned on). What will he say when Calgary is a wild west ghost town? Good on you JIM SCHULTZ for sending the commys here in Alberta some factual food for thought. Unfortunately its probably in the garbage can, unread. Rachael and her gang only work on lies and deception. Facts and truths be damned, as are we.

Does Trudeau really believe a carbon tax will make investors choose Canada over the U.S.? I think he does, After all in his universe, budgets balance themselves. He lives in a world of magic and fantasy creatures…Only make believe ♫…

He and notley both are the same, They want to be seen as saving the planet and will destroy jobs by the thousands to do so. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE LITTLE PEOPLE. Notley tells Albertans to ride the bus while she drives an escalade a huge gas guzzling suv that quite a few Albertans cannot afford to drive because THEY HAVE NO JOB. She does not care neither does trudeau. Just look at Ontario this is what they want for the country. Obscene energy costs and high taxes. Ontario is finished and unless the libs are gone soon SO IS CANADA. The liberals and the ndp seem to have no reguard for the future generations they are placing massive debt onto. My daughters friends happily told me how great the pm was. I asked them who would pay the debt because it would not be me, I will be long gone. I had to explain that the FREE THINGS THE LYING STEALING POLITICANS PROMISED ARE NOT FREE, The liberals and the NDP have screwed over even the yet to be born. They have no plan to pay the debt only the interest. Just wait till interest rates go up. Ontario already pays what a billion a month. Interest rises 4% then what 4 billion a month. Oleary is right gross incompetence barley describes the fed liberals, provincial liberals in Ontario and the alberta ndp.Till these fools are gone Canada will slowly sink into more and more debt. As soon as the default comes gov workers are screwed. the pensions will be the first on the chopping blocks and the fools in the unions go along like sheep thinking they are untouchable. Hopefully some have seen the writing on the wall and prepared. Other wise they are screwed like the rest of us possibly worse because they believe politicans and the union leaders.

The only thing polluting Calgary is that piece of nasty trash, a long with Nenshi and Notley. The trio of idiots and fools.

Dear Santa….all I want for Christmas this year is a blow up “Trudeau Slap My Face And Suck Me Dry Doll”. I promise to be a good boy and slap his face for 2 minutes every morning after I wake up. It’s other feature I’ll save for bed time.

You know what I like? I like going into homes where the fridge is festooned with Liberal or NDP or Green magnets and listening to the stupid bastards whine about their hydro bills. That’s what I like.

I think that Trudeau should have a mental assessment done ASAP.. No man in is right mind would say the things that come out of this idiots mouth.. And as far as i’am concerned the only thing that Quebec is good for is to take from the rest of Canada.. And furthermore, the only real person to vote for in the upcoming conservative leadership race is Kellie Leitch.. Go Kellie !!

To answer you basic question Ezra:- Does Trudeau really believe a carbon tax will make investors choose Canada over the US?… Maybe not!.. But Gerald Butts told him to say so; and therein lies Canada’s insanity on the world stage…

Hey Ezra. Can you please give more attention to what Brad Wall and Brian Pallister are doing to stand up against the stupid carbon tax?

It is really good to know that Canada is endowed with Politicians that have the innate ability to Control the Climate. They have NO control over our Culture ,over our Religions, over our skin color – but -they can ,for sure, control the CLIMATE. Our Politicians are a very special bunch.

Yep, Ron, no one has the spine to tell the emperor that he has no clothes. They think if they suck up he’ll throw them an economic bone down the road somewhere.

To answer the headline question, Yes Trudeau does think that the world will come a knocking on our carbon tax door. They think they are as motivated by virtue signalling as he is- Mr. No-Business-Acumen and-Failed-Substitue-Drama-Teacher..
