The Battle River School board in Alberta has just told the Cornerstone Christian Academy that it can teach the Christian Bible — but only some parts. The school board will decide which parts.
Now, you can agree with or disagree with the Ten Commandments, or other parts of the Bible, but freedom of religion and freedom of expression are an essential freedom in Canada.
In fact, the concept of the separation of church and state actually doesn’t exist in Canada. Our Constitution has religion hard-wired into it.
(Hey: do you think the Board would ever write to a Muslim school and tell them which verses of the Koran they can’t teach…?)
Battle River School board had a public meeting last night, and half the town came — "but since the agenda was set in advance, they could not speak.”
And we already know that Alberta NDP’s education minister David Eggen hates Christian schools, wants to shut them down, and has already taken steps to shut to that.
So who will stand up for the Christians?
Well, I know one man:
His name is John Carpay, with the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms. He joins us next to outline his battle plan — and how we can help. VISIT TheRealBigots.com for more.
