I'm Jerry Agar, sitting in for Ezra Levant... Do we need the New York Times to tell us what Canadian values are? They doesn’t understand how Trump got elected, so how can they weigh in on Canadian conservatism?
Worse, the Toronto Star re-printed this column, which attacked former Conservative leadership candidate Kellie Leitch and the idea that there are such things as Canadian values.
The NYT story had to do the Syrian refugee who beat his wife with a hockey stick, then claimed he didn't know it was wrong.
The article referred to, “Leitch’s largely discredited ‘Canadian values’ campaign, which would screen immigrants for un-Canadian attitudes or beliefs."
Really New York Times and Toronto Star? Discredited by whom?
In March, the Montreal Gazette reported:
“Three Canadians out of four believe immigrants to this country should be tested for ‘anti-Canadian’ values, a survey conducted for Radio-Canada suggests.”
We were told recently, by Ottawa bureaucrats, that Trudeau is bringing refugees in so quickly and in such large numbers that proper screening cannot be done.
Canadians are not anti-refugee; We are “anti” Trudeau’s careless, uncaring and potentially dangerous mishandling of the refugee program.
The New York Times wrote an angry, fact free piece attacking the vast majority of the Canadian public.
And shame on the Toronto Star for carrying it.
