Look, I’ve got my beefs with the “Canada 150” celebration. It’s a Liberal Party slush fund, as I reported a few months ago, regarding fake comedian Mary Walsh and her million-dollar grant.
Toronto’s Ryerson University Student Union wouldn’t agree with me.
Their Facebook page says:
“Countdown to Colonialism 150. Why we should not celebrate Canada 150.”
“All 2017 marks is 150 years since the Canadian Federation Act was signed.”
Huh? Do you mean the British North America Act, which we today call our Constitution Act? If these are the smart kids, I’d hate to see the dumb ones.
I’ll read you more. This post made my brain hurt from the different levels of stupid. I don’t think they teach an hour’s worth of Canadian or European history any more — not just at Ryerson, but in high school or lower.
They say, “the land was stolen from Indigenous people” and talk about “genocide.”
I’ll explain why that and so much of this statement isn’t just false, it’s slanderous.
Like Black Lives Matter, Idle No More, the extremists who have taken over the Gay Pride parades — they want to destroy Canadian nationalism, and focus instead on irrelevant criteria, like race or sex.
They’re evil; or stupid; or misled.
Given that they’re left-wing students at Ryerson, it’s probably a bit of all three.
