Great story from a little online news source called Blacklocks: They found an Access to Information memo from Environment Canada about the Justin Trudeau’s “rationale for carbon pricing” — which is another name for the carbon tax, which is a tax on everything:
“Faced with a carbon price, Canadians could choose between continuing their usual activities and paying the price; shifting to cleaner technologies, fuels or products; or changing their behaviour by economizing on the use of heating and air conditioning.”
“A carbon pricing policy that ramps up in stringency gradually over time can encourage behavioural change, while avoiding shocks to the economy.”
That’s what this is about. Controlling your life.
But meanwhile, today Environment Minister Catherine McKenna is jetting down to Washington, D.C. She loves to fly. And she loves to drive — with your money. McKenna signed off on her department buying Lexuses, Mercedes Benz and even two Porsches.
She lives in the riding in which Parliament is found. She could walk to work, or take the bus. But no — she has a ministerial limousine, and racked up 24,000 kilometres in the first nine months. How do you even do that?
These people aren’t just charlatans. They’re not just crazy.
Because it’s not about changing the weather. It’s not even about wringing out more money from you.
It’s about controlling you, and your life, and telling you what to do. And even what to think.
