A few years ago, I wrote a book called Ethical Oil: The Case for Canada’s Oilsands. And I set up an NGO by that name. We weren’t a charity. We were advocates.
I pointed out that so-called "charities" on the left, many of them funded by foreign billionaires — the World Wildlife Fund, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Pembina Foundation, Environmental Defence and more — were as partisan and biased as we were.
(Remember David Suzuki campaigning in a TV ad for the Liberals?)
Our NGO filed complaints to the CRA, pointing this out.
Well, today Trudeau’s Minister of National Revenue asked the Canada Revenue Agency to “suspend all action in relation to the remaining audits and objections that were part of the Political Activities Audit Program, initiated in 2012.”
The CBC reports that, “Thursday's suspension affects 12 audits, of which seven have resulted in an intention to revoke charitable status.”
So, to be clear, it’s not just audits that are underway that are called off.
Audits that were finished, and found tax cheating — those are being called off, too.
These aren’t conservative audits by conservative staff checking for liberal opinion. They are audits by tax accountants and auditors, who have sworn an oath to be neutral civil servants.
They’re checking for any political activity of any stripe — pro-life groups have been decertified, too.
If the Liberal Party is willing to reach right into the Canada Revenue Agency to stop non-partisan audits of their friends, do you think they’d hesitate to reach into the CRA to start an audit of their enemies…?
NEXT: Sun columnist Anthony Furey and I talk about another fawning cover story about Justin Trudeau, this time for Bloomberg Business, and how something strange happens to the PM when he does these interviews with foreign media.
This particular interview was full of smears against former PM Harper, or as Furey calls them, Trudeau's "alternative facts."
When a private member's bill to privatize the CBC was tabled, the vote was 260 to 6 against.
That’s right, only six Conservatives voted yes.
Brian and I talk about who they were, and what it says about the rest of the so-called "conservatives."
FINALLY: Your messages to me!
