It seems like the worst is over for Fort McMurray, but wildfires continue to burn in Alberta, forcing the shut-down of so much of the provincial economy, and of course causing so much human sorrow.
Our Rebel viewers are doing their part:
They’ve raised more than $150,000, and close to 600 volunteers have signed up to go to Fort Mac to physically help.
But what about the federal government?
Justin Trudeau really doesn’t care. When things were at their worst, on May 4th, Trudeau started his comments with a joke about Star Wars.
He said the Liberal government will use tax dollars to match private gifts to the Red Cross. That could be more than $100 million.
So, a thousand dollars per person in Fort Mac — which has sent hundreds of billions of dollars into the economy, and tens of billions of dollars into tax coffers? Got it.
Watch me tally up Trudeau’s “gifts” to Bombardier, the CBC, and “Syrian refugees.” And then there’s foreign aid, of course.
Here’s a thought experiment: What if 80,000 people in Quebec had to be evacuated? Can you imagine Trudeau’s response…?
NEXT: Edmonton Sun columnist Lorne Gunter joins me via Skype to talk about the ongoing disaster in Alberta, and the Liberal government’s reaction.
He’s also worried that Fort McMurray will see a repeat of the High River “gun grab” by the RCMP.
THEN: Lorrie Goldstein explains why the climate alarmists are so far off the mark when it comes to blaming the Fort McMurray fires on “global warming.”
Finally: All your messages to me, including lots of comments about Fort McMurray.
PLEASE NOTE:
Now we could use NEW volunteers to help us with the logistics of our big caravan, to assist in organizational details. To learn more and sign up, visit RebuildFortMac.ca.
I think that the Liberals and the NDP should have taken as much assistance as necessary to deal with this problem which has been stated could last for a few more weeks and this could seriously impact the Canadian economy, even though it is one portion. The economy is obviously a lot bigger with many different sectors which many on here fail to acknowledge.
Many on here have also hated the fact that Trudeau with taxpayer money pledged to provide assistance. The people on here are not happy with the assistance since either they only want private volunteer money or they hate Trudeau so much that they cannot think straight.
Many on here also fail to ignore that Trudeau has spoken several times and at a time like this I believe that Trudeau has done an alright job and many pull up the images with Harper assisting during the floods. Trudeau cannot help in situations such as this especially with this being a forest fire. Trudeau is not a firefighter.
And yes it is true that other provinces are experiencing forest fires and this is being ignored by Levant and those links should be put on which CBC did cover tonight which has to be mentioned.
Of course, Levant and company will continue to ignore the other fires but more assistance I believe should have been brought in to assist with these fires. I doubt Harper would have asked for assistance from Russia as well. We all remember how Harper showed maps of Ukraine and did not have a cozy relationship with Putin, so the evidence is there online. I actually believe that Russia did nothing wrong and it was a coup in Ukraine in 2014. Many seem to gloss over that. I also believe that Russia has been negatively targeted for many other issues such as protecting Syria and defending their sovereignty.
First, these are polite offers of assistance. That is offers made out of politeness. They are the kind of offers the suffering one thanks and then politely declines.
Second, the existing fire-fighting forces on the ground in Alberta have been outstanding. Professional and hard-working, the municipal fire departments have given their all — even 24 hours at a go. Some are paid professionals and many are volunteer. They have sweated under heavy gear.
Third, the Government of Canada, under the Prime Minister, have provided emergency assistance to those who are affected. They are obliged to do so and have done so. Water-bombers from other Provinces, RCMP support, and even Canadian Forces support when asked. The Federal Government is spending more than three billion dollars on this horrendous event.
British Colombia is fighting dozens of wild-fires at the moment. Did you know that? Likewise Saskatchewan.
The fire-fighting effort in Fort McMurray has been courageous and dramatic. The fire-fighters at every level have done well.
80, 000 people had to be moved safely away from the danger zone and that was done.
Foreign governments and foreign charities have been generous to offer support. Albertans and our own governments have done well to cover the need.
No one in Canada trusts them any more
Especially in the west and even more so in Alberta
They now have the well deserved reputation of being burglars and liars.
Not many will give them the time of day – and rightly so.
“Is there any way we can get an updated report on what’s happening right now in fort MAC – like a day to day
I don’t trust any reports by the msmers
This is an unprecedented national disaster, yet very little from the star wars INCDOOGE imam pm -—-very telling "
I came across an interesting tidbit, it is from the main stream media.
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/05/09/fort-mcmurray-fire_n_9872944.html
“OTTAWA — Russia, the U.S., Mexico, Australia, Taiwan, Israel and the Palestinian Authority have all offered help in fighting the northern Alberta wildfire, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says there’s no need for international assistance.
Last week Vladimir Puchkov, the Russian minister of emergency measures, offered to send heavy water bombers and specialized crews to battle the fire that’s been raging out of control near Fort McMurray."
Someone explain why boy blunder blew off aid from other countries but is ever so quick to toss Canadian tax dollars out the window to help other countries?
Forget the eco-loons, let’s give a pile of credit to the decent majority of Canadians who are reacting to the natural disaster in Fort McMurray with good wishes and charity. It is important for the people of Fort McMurray to know that real, normal, working Canadians are profoundly appreciative for their enormous contribution to Canada, a contribution that many cities ten times their size would be very hard pressed to match.
Yes, the Federal government will match donations to the Red Cross dollar for dollar — that encourages families and individuals to give something from their own pockets, across Canada.
But the Federal government is also responsible for disaster relief. In this horrendous fire disaster the federal government will spend (it is estimated) more than three billion dollars.
In a blunt article in JournalMetro, Jeff yates points out: “Ottawa must cover 50% of relief costs once these go over 3$ per person in the province where the disaster occurs (the provincial government pays the rest). Once these costs reach 15$ per person, Ottawa pays 90% of those costs.”
The article is worth a read for those interested in a reality check.

It is hard to tell, who is worse, Notley or Trudeau. They are both responsible for the safety and wellbeing of Alberta, yet they just lie and joke about it. What is this Country coming to, a third world land of savages, intent in killing off Christians and Jews, led by Despots.
Sometimes I am glad that I am old and likely will not see the results of Trudeau’s misrule.

Man made global cooling became the “proven science” of global warming became man made climate change. The more the “science” unravels, the more these climate cultists double down on their stupidity. If they’re serious about reducing CO2 they’d be pushing for a gradual change to natural gas & nuclear. It’s the way we’ll eventually have to go anyway. – http://phe.rockefeller.edu/docs/ausubelappea.pdf
Quebecers are better, aren’t they Justin?
I agree with this assessment, but isn’t it a shame that it is highly likely the reason they would not go in and take the guns is because they know they are being watched instead of because it is the right thing to do?
