Dr. Jordan Peterson, Canada's most famous professor, refuses to use made up politically correct language like "zhee" and "zher" instead of "he" and "her."
His university's administration pounced on him but, for the first time in memory, a professor fought back, and won.
Anyway, a graduate student and teaching assistant at Wilfrid Laurier University, Lindsay Shepherd, recently showed a clip of Peterson in class. Not to advocate for him, but to show his point of view.
(The clip was from a TV Ontario show called The Agenda with Steve Paikin. Which is about as mild as TV gets in Canada.)
But Lindsay was summoned to a university kangaroo court where she was grilled by academics who literally compared showing that video to showing one of Hitler. They called it an act of "violence."
The administrators never showed Lindsay the complaint against her or told her who made it.
Some audio of this interrogation has been leaked to Global News. Tonight I'll play it for you.
It's amazing, shocking and infuriating.
I reached out to Lindsay and said we’d be happy to crowdfund a lawyer for her. She wrote back declining — I think maybe she was worried about taking help from us. Fine — I hope she reconsiders.
But we’ve launched a petition too, that you can sign at SaveLindsay.com.
We’ll deliver it to Wilfrid Laurier, telling them to dismiss the Orwellian complaint against Lindsay Shepherd, apologize to her, and reaffirm its commitment to academic freedom.
Of course they won’t.They’re insane. You can’t tell insane people to stop being insane.
This petition isn’t for them; it’s for us.
To show that we’re not part of that. We just won’t be.
