I gave a Yom Kippur speech at a synagogue — and got called a racist!

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

I’m not particularly religious but Yom Kippur is an important holiday for Jews, and I was surprised to receive an invitation to speak at a synagogue last night.

I started off by praising Canada: other than perhaps Israel itself, there is no safer, more welcoming place in the world for Jews to live today.

Then I mentioned Palmyra, the ancient city that was recently taken over by ISIS, then liberated; Palmyra was once a mighty city, and now it’s in ruins.

And then I mentioned Malmo, thirty years ago a ship-building city of Swedes. Today it’s half Muslim, with huge no-go zones, that I only visited in broad daylight with a bodyguard, when I went there this spring.

And my point was, to these content, complacent Jews, living in suburban Toronto — how long will Toronto be the delightful city, so comfortable and Jew-friendly that it is?

Because there are about 350,000 Jews in Canada, about one per cent of the population. But since 9/11, Canada has doubled its Muslim population.

And we’re not vetting anyone for their beliefs, even though polls show Muslims from places like Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey don’t share our western values.

And I said one last thing:

As a child I went to a small Jewish school in Calgary, and our principal and Grade 1 teacher were Holocaust survivors, who had in fact met in a concentration camp. They taught us about the Holocaust, and all I could think was:

How could they not see what was coming…?

WATCH to see what happened at the synagogue after my speech:

Who agreed with me, and who didn’t. The split was very revealing…

NEXT: Our good friend John Carpay from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, comes on to talk about a troubling free speech story out of Edmonton, where a court ruled that the city was justified in pulling bus ads promoting help for Muslim girls and women at risk.

THEN: Author Noah Richler joins me to discuss his book "The Candidate: Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail," about his run for office as an NDP candidate.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

“Um, you are racist Ezra.”

Jimmy Da Moron read and learn:
“Race” is the arbitrary classification of individuals according to physical traits that presumably have a genetic pattern. Islam is not a race. Islam has nothing at all to do with genetics nor is it an innate characteristic. It is an ideology – a set of beliefs about individual behavior and the rules of their society. People generally choose their beliefs; they do not choose their race.

“Islam is an ideology. It’s not a race.”
Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR spokesperson

“Race only matters to liberals and racists.”

Sadly some Jews have forgotten the past like far too many of the people in our society.

Yvette Mozol you are damn right, nothing racist about the truth. Of course the left thinks backwards and assumes their lies make someone racist.

Jimmy Reece Islam is not a race, and your comment about old ignorant white men was racist , so you should hardly be calling someone else racist.

If the judge didn’t make a “mistake in law”, then you appeal on the grounds that it’s “in the interest of justice”.
Your speech to the Synagogue, unfortunately, was dead on!

Islam is such and intolerant religion that Muslims are commanded to kill infidels…Jews, Christians, etc. in its writings.

Just because some people know this and point it out, that doesn’t make them “racist.”

It makes you wonder about the people who are wilfully blind as though they have no survival instinct, though.

Ezra, I love listening to you. Your speech was fascinating & offered facts. There is never anything racist about the truth.
As for Pam Geller’s bus ad, since when is it offensive to try & prevent crime against children. What’s offensive to me is that Liberal MP who complained for some of his brainless constituents. The judge who ruled is biased & not fit to be on the bench. Hope Pam appeals & wins.

Ezra, you are not racist but we have many sad persons in this world who are “virtuous” only because of vanity. Their head is empty.

Islam is not a race – any more than fascism or tribalist xenophobia are a “race”.

EZRA , the way I see it now is that the Jewish people are becoming the canaries in the coal mine for the rest of us western Anglo people’s

Like I said be fore that judge took a pro choice stand in stead of a pro life stand where he allowes honor killing by a second party if he so chooses

Any Jew who buys into this leftist-Islamo-fascism masquerading as migration/multiculturalism has had their basic survival instincts indoctrinated out of them – these are the same type of people who were in denial of Hitlers and Stalin’s “Jewish solution” – it can’t happen here right? Wel it is dangerous to be a Jew in Europe again.

I recall seeing some historical photos of the mass round up of Jews which were put in evidence at the Nuremberg trials. I’ll never forget the one – it showed 1000s of Jews who were ripped from their suburban homes in Paris and out lying towns – they were lined up along the loading platform of a rail station waiting to be loaded in livestock cars and sent to the death camps.

What unnerved me about this frozen record of time was not the misery and discomfort of those waiting to be taken to their doom, but the fact that there were only 3 guards in charge of these 100os of people – a closer look revealed the guards Mauser rifles to be unloaded and uncocked!

The Nazis were so certain of the psychological disarray of the prisoners -(terrified by fear, in disbelief or still hoping they would be spared if they were “good”) that they were so unworried about these desperate people mobbing them, overpowering them and escaping, that the had unloaded their weapons.

This spoke volumes to me about the predator prey relationship in the holocaust. Those who did not prepare when amply warned, or who believed this could not happen to them, or who were too terrified to resist were made into statistics.

How different that scene was from Warsaw ghetto uprising where a few hundred Jewish resisters armed with a handful of pistols, 17 rifles, and Molotov cocktails faced down more than 2,000 heavily armed SS German troops supported by tanks and flamethrowers..

The Germans were forced to withdraw from the ghetto, they returned with more and more firepower but retreated to the outskirts.. After several days without quelling the uprising, the German commander, fearing the Jewish uprising may spread, ordered the ghetto burned to the ground

- yes they eventually died but they died as men and they struck fear into the hearts of their oppressors unlike the sheep who walk willingly to their doom.

Brotherly love. Like Cain and Able? Too bad people don’t understand what is love. It’s not a feeling, it is an action verb. “I leave you one last commandment, love one another as I have loved you” “I did not come to bring peace but to deliver the sword.” Jesus knew there is no death and to love is to spread the gospel so that you might be saved

Reminds me of: The story
The story concerns a farmer who finds a viper freezing in the snow. Taking pity on it, he picks it up and places it within his coat. The viper, revived by the warmth, bites his rescuer, who dies realizing that it is his own fault. The story is recorded in both Greek and Latin sources. In the former, the farmer dies reproaching himself “for pitying a scoundrel,” while in the version by Phaedrus the snake says that he bit his benefactor “to teach the lesson not to expect a reward from the wicked.” The latter sentiment is made the moral in Medieval versions of the fable. Odo of Cheriton’s snake answers the farmer’s demand for an explanation with a counter-question, “Did you not know that there is enmity and natural antipathy between your kind and mine? Did you not know that a serpent in the bosom, a mouse in a bag and fire in a barn give their hosts an ill reward?”
