Dollarama workers latest victims of minimum wage hike — while Liberals write each other six-figure cheques

Rebel Staff

Justin Trudeau and Bill Morneau are raising taxes on small businesspeople, tradesmen and farmers. Trudeau inherited his money. Morneau married a McCain heiress. They and their children and grandchildren will never have to work.

But you do, and you’ll pay more to get by.

Now comes the plan to jack up the minimum wage in places across Canada to $15 dollars an hour. In Alberta, that would amount to a 25 per cent pay increase overnight.

If you can keep your job, that is.

What’s a very-low-margin business going to do? One like Dollarama?

With a $15/hour minimum wage, the Liberals are jacking up every Dollarama store’s costs by, what, $500 more a day?

How much more do they have to sell to make up that $500? Is it $5,000 more in sales a day? $10,000?

No, Dollarama is just getting rid of staff, replacing them with $100,000 self-checkouts that will pay for themselves in a year or two. (And will never call in sick, go on vacation or have an HR issue...)

Because the real minimum wage isn’t $15 an hour. It’s zero.

How’s life for the Libranos these days, though?

Tonight, I’ll tell you how some Liberal insiders are making out (with your money) these days.

I'll also talk about a related issue:

The other dangers that automation, and artificial intelligence in particular, are posing to us all.

NEXT: Author and activist Pamela Geller and I talk about a new documentary about filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, who was murdered in broad daylight by a Muslim terrorist, as well as the troubling case of the University of Edinburgh student who is being investigating for mocking ISIS.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

Pamela Geller’s documentary is excellent, I recommend spending the $6.19 to view it.

Steve Hicken, I agree with your statements.

Pamela Geller’s movie will be banned from everywhere at some point. The powers that be already are planning something. Be Careful as in 1984 there watching and their power is growing fast.

Interesting connect between the two main stories. I went to the movie’s .com address and was informed by google it did not exist. Keyed in ’Can’t we talk about this?’ for a search. Of course, ended up with anything and everything vaguely associated with the phrase…except the movie. Then added Geller to the search words and ended up with stories about the movie and about Ms. Geller, including Ezra’s video, but with the socialist MSM stories leading the list…and no link to the movie itself. Finally went to The Geller Report, which I was going to do originally before deciding on my experiment.

Even more interesting, and probably coincidental, my search experiment was interrupted by my carrier, Telus, citing my IP address, for a customer satisfaction survey about my search preferences.

FLAT EARTH commented, “Only stupid people don’t understand economics 101.” Like our “useful idiot” trolls and other Communist sympathizers.

The market must determine the price of goods and services as well as wages.!! Any interference from outside forces will only confound and exasperate a natural ebb and flow that is known as the “free market” Only stupid people don’t understand economics 101..

I wonder, of those who have some interest in this story, how many feel that the minimum wage should be raised to something like $15 and hour? When I turned 16 my wage went up big-time to one dollar an hour — eight dollars a day. At 16 I felt like a big man.

Automation in the service industry is well under way – I notice the grocery stores who have unions are the first to adopt automated check outs. Food service industry is next, then the big box stores, – all these entry level and 2nd job service industry employees will obviously follow Tater Tot into trust fund semi retirement.

Jay Kelly is such a troll time and again, at least an average of 95% of his posts contain contradictions, too funny.

The ONLY people who get regular and rather large pay hikes are the employees working in the public sector – see links. The peons in the private sector are lucky to have a job, a regular yearly raise is a pipe dream in many cases. Raise the min wage and some peons lose their jobs, that is an economical proven fact.
“Contrary to claims that minimum wage increases do not adversely affect the economy, CFIB’s research shows increases have a negative impact on jobs. The report estimates a 10 per cent increase in minimum wage across all provinces costs up to 321,300 jobs nationally.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, this amounts to a loss of up to 4,100 jobs. These jobs losses would take the form of hiring freezes, slower employment growth, or direct job cuts.”

If you want a raise to $15/hr, here’s an idea. Quit your burger-flipping job or Dollarama and get a job somewhere where the work you do is WORTH $15/hr. to the employer.
Yea, I know. Pretty radical idea in this day and age, isn’t it?

Employees of Dollarama should object: in some Provinces there is a proposal to raise the minimum wage to $15 dollars an hour. People who actually work in this store know that it is a good idea.

A lot of people in Alberta have money riding on no raise at all.

If people in Ontario and Quebec get automatic raises that means they will have a fair wage for the work that they do.

Do you really want to have young people from Quebec and Ontario getting a fair wage? Now is the time to give your opinion.

In its 2015 election platform the Communist Party of Canada called for the minimum wage to be raised to $20 an hour:
The Communist Party of Canada (Ontario) called for $19 an hour. The May 2017 election platform of the Communist Party of BC called for a $20 minimum wage.
My point? When you look at these and other policies as well, there is little to distinguish Wynne’s Liberals and Notley’s NDP from the communists.

LLOYD NOLAN, I received BLAKE RICHARDS’ flyer as well showing 17 tax increases brought in by Little Potato.

Ezra – Trudeau slipped past all the Premiers 15 (2) of the Charter, which was a seed of discontent. If one wants to get rid of democracy, they have to oppress the White Males. Sec 15 is about all Cdns being equal before and under the law – 15 (2) undermines that by giving special privilege to all by White males.

How am I supposed to have a good weekend? All hell is breaking loose.
Prayers have made a significant impact. There’s no atheists in foxholes or hurricanes. God love you.
Pamela, you should be on Carlson with Mark Stein.
God bless you

Can Rebel post the Pamela Geller film trailer under ‘Need to Know’ and ‘Most Popular’ along with the subscription address? That will help increase views.

-The Liberals write each other 6 figure checks while putting people out of work – because socialism is all about fairness, right?

- The globalist/socialist/alt-left scum are 100% complicit in every crime committed by their 7th century savage Islamist pets. I’ll be watching the movie this weekend. If you set up crowdsourcing I’ll contribute.

- In George Orwell’s book 1984 all party members had a tele-screen in their home. It was like a TV except that the government could watch you through it. You never knew when they were watching & when they weren’t. You could dim the picture but never completely blank it out. You could turn down the volume but you couldn’t completely mute it. That was published in 1949. What they have today is far more intrusive. The government doesn’t have to force you to put it in your home. Tech companies made it fun & convenient.

Ezra, thanks for playing the trailer “Can’t we talk?”, I will be watching Pamela Geller’s documentary this weekend.
I hope the billboards in Times Square, and, the bus ads in various cities, will generate a lot of public interest in viewing this film.

Too bad Canadian farmers couldn’t all take a year off. Maybe people would take real notice after thier food bills tripled, because these tax cheats didn’t work for a year.
We need to create a HUGE awareness of Saudi oil in Canada, and promote Canadian oil. We need to stop the ANTI Canadian, “ANYTHING” warriors. Where is our “CANADA first” warriors?

Andrew Lawton had a good radio segment about making fun of ISIS. He then contrasted that incident with the Muslim woman who swung the golf clubs. He pointed out how people were willing to make excuses for the Muslims, but are quick to condemn making fun of ISIS.

I love Dollarama. A lot of us cheap skate Winnipeggers go there all the time. Good thing our progressive conservative provincial government will not be bumping up the min wage up that much.
