Canadian school deems “Rebel” team name “racist” (David Menzies with guest Doug Ford)

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

(David Menzies guest hosts for Ezra Levant...) Is it time for us here at The Rebel to consider a name change?

“Rebel” is now a pejorative term, according to the progressive tall foreheads at Ontario’s Georgetown District High School.

For more than half a century, the nickname of the school’s sports teams was "the Rebels."

But some 150 years ago, during the U.S. Civil War, the Southern side were called the “Rebels.”

Therefore the word “rebel” is... racist?

Obviously, the word “rebel” existed long before the U.S. Civil War. A Georgetown alumni petition asking the school to retain the "Rebel" nickname has already amassed more than 800 signatures. But what do those deplorables know?

People like Georgetown Principal Paul Daignault and their stifling committees come up with solutions for problems that do not exist. How sad that they’re in a position to influence young minds.

In fact, given their ignorance of the English language, I’d say these edu-crats need to go back to school...

NEXT: My special guest today is veteran Toronto city counsellor and current mayoral candidate Doug Ford

He and I talk about the legacy of his late brother Rob Ford, the ins and outs of retail politics, why he thinks Mayor John Tory has got to go, and a lot more.

PLUS: I respond to your messages to me, about my recent guest-hosting stint!

Janice Kay, John Tory lacks knowledge to deal with BLM and infighting at Pride Committee organizing it.
Some research on his part would have revealed the truth about this domestic terrorist group in the US, and, the nuts in Canadian cities who copy them.

I was very disappointed with John Tory for allowing the organizers at the behest of BLM to boot uniformed police out of the Pride Parade. He should have cut their funding in that case.
As far as I know BLM is sponsored by George Soros, basically to disrupt and cause trouble for police wherever they are. In some US cities, they’ve tried to cause disruptions in various parts of the city at the same time, so the police aren’t able to control things.

Larry Elder, a black conservative lawyer and radio host, talks about treatment of blacks in the USA by the police. He says that the police kill more whites percentage-wise during arrests than they do blacks, and in fact, police there often go out of their way to avoid arresting blacks over minor crimes, since they’re afraid of being called racist. He says that if BLM really cared about black people, they’d pay attention to black on black crime, which has a much higher rate than white on black crime. According to Elder, the media hysteria over cases like Trayvon Martin make it seem that non black police are gunning down blacks regularly, whereas that is not the case at all. It’s simply the Left leaning media trying to constantly portray blacks as victims of whites and divide everyone. John Tory has been taken in by BLM.

I hope Doug’s right. Otherwise, leave eastern Canada and come to Alberta. Leave them for Europe and globalists. Just bring weapons. We have every resource to be independent, just gotta eliminate the leaches. Only place in the world, rat free. We won’t even let Justin stay here. Surprised he got out in time

I endorse Doug Ford just for having the cajones to tell the PC police that free speech and freedom of the press are vital Canadian values: he’s not afraid to be interviewed on Rebel Media.
I refuse to vote for the coward Scheer because of his opposition to free speech and the Rebel.
Unfortunately, Ford is going to be pilloried by the MSM, but I’m hoping that the Toronto public will see thru the Trudeau media attack and elect him in a landslide.

While not knowing enough about TO and Ontario politics to comment, and while disagreeing with his comments regarding “Joe Who Jr.” on the federal level, it is nice to see Doug Ford,a conservative politician, stating his message through conservative media. Pretty much solidifies his base for expansion.

Sheesh! I had no idea when I was dancing to “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol in my youth that the song was an ode to racism……

Doug Ford – will you instruct the police chief to arrest anyone wearing a mask during a protest, and would you have had the police charge BLM for holding up traffic for 20 min’s with their protest in TO?

Are all these liberal demented wingnuts going to go through the Dictionary and demand a ban on every word and or verb they find offensive(get a life!)..What about them for their disgusting verbiage…verbosity..They really can’t agree to disagree….are they all hooked on pain and misery? I can answer my own question…yep, they must be!

David, my French is rust, but you are certainly a “piece of resistance”! Good interview with Doug Ford. Do you think he could run in London Ontario. Our mayor works long hours, so he gets to indulge in his female assistants, at will.

Seriously, the time is rapidly approaching for ALL parents to pull their kids from Ontario Public Education. Except for an agenda to sexually pervert, distort or otherwise indoctrinate children, the evidence is clear: Public education no longer serves a useful purpose nor fulfills it’s intended mandate.

Here in Winnipeg, a new restaurant popped up. It is called Rebel Pizza. Perhaps they should change their name too?

The Georgetown District High School’s sports team should be called ‘morons’.
