More media layoffs, while the CBC keeps hiring. That’s no coincidence.

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Big news today from Rogers Media: Their magazines Canadian Business and MoneySense are ending their print editions. Maclean’s will now be printed just once a month.

A group of 146 newspapers in Quebec are looking for a bail-out from the government.

The Toronto Star says they used to have 470 reporters. Now they have just 170. The Globe, the Post, all are cutting back.

And every news article I’ve referred to in the last five minutes except one all came from one source: the CBC.

How can anyone compete with the CBC, that gets a $1.2 billion a year taxpayer hand-out. Now that everything’s merging on the Internet, the CBC just destroys everything in its path — even though the Broadcasting Act, that creates the CBC, does not extend to the Internet.

Today, more than 50 per cent of working journalists in Canada work for the CBC. I’ll show you their hiring page. New journalists being snapped by the CBC, with your tax dollars.

And the tax dollars paid by Rogers. And the Star. And all their other private sector competitors…

NEXT: Broadcaster Dave Rutherford talks about the Notley NDP’s carbon taxes, and the minimum wage increase that goes into effect tomorrow. Meanwhile, more candidates have entered the Conservative Party leadership, but only Kenney is the unity candidate.

THEN:'s Candice Malcolm joins me to discuss plans by the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to spend as much as $250,000 for new studies on how best to integrate Syrian refugees into their new community.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

The CBC is like the porch monkeys of the media world. They sit around all day cat calling as taxpayers pay for their dinner.

Why then is the Rebel also ignoring the big story in Ontario of how the Liberal government enacted an unconstitutional new Mining Act and shut down resource development in Ontario by giving the so-called first nations veto power and taking Crown lands away from the non-aboriginals?
commented 2016-10-02 14:55:03 -0400
More and more every day the CBC is dictating a predetermined view of our country which simply doesn’t reflect the views and opinions of most Canadians. That makes it a dangerous brainwashing machine.
commented 2016-10-02 12:16:31 -0400
I see that there are a few losers here posting their comments defending the CBC.

When will you socialist losers grow up and realise the CBC is destroying our democracy in so very many ways?

Every morning I get up early and watch CTV News Net, and listen to them lie about Trump or whatever else they don’t like. CBC doesn’t lie as much as CTV, they just censor everything that they feel Canadians are too stupid to understand, like Muslim violence. Where is the CRTC ? Remember they indirectly dissolved Sun News. The CRTC is responsible for the above Rotten Journalism. I would like Brian or Ezra to send them a petition with 100 thousand names on it, asking them to do their job and monitor their lies and censorship.
Oh, sorry for talking about Ezra’s program, and breaking up yours and Jay Kelly’s comments to each other.

CBC programming is deeply stuck in the 80s – it’s pathetic to watch – only super cucks watch it or those with 1 channel in their remote area.
commented 2016-10-01 17:47:53 -0400
I CAN understand —-why Canadians should fund the CBC , so that they can get the News out to ALL of Canada , including the remote areas . It is expensive. No small Media can afford to do this. This funding of 1.4 billion dollars ,while excessive—-might even be fair ,IF, the CBC had a modicum of fair play and Neutrality. They DO NOT!. Every Road runs both ways. Every Civil War has 2 sides. Every Victim thinks that someone is Privileged. Every Country values their Sovereignty and their Culture. Every Religion thinks they are they are the Saviours of Souls. The CBC should be showing BOTH sides of Every argument. That is WHY we pay you. Justin Trudeau is not as Good as your propaganda portrays and Stephen Harper was not as Bad as your PROPAGANDA portrayed.. The CBC has become the Privileged Media for Dictators and Victims.

Yet another reason on top of a thousand reasons why the west should separate and kick out all the CBC cucks.

Thank you Ezra and Candace, for playing the sound bite of Trudashian stating the circumstances that citizenship would be revoked. He said it. Now he must follow through. Monsef is guilty as h*ll of lying and deceiving the public. The Liberals are hoping this story just disappears. Please don’t let it.
commented 2016-10-01 11:03:04 -0400
Why is anyone watching live tv at all? Get yourself an android box and you can watch anything for free completely commercial free. Why pay any of the providers that offer the same shit ( CBC, Global, and CTV ) on 5 channels each to watch the same left wing drivel. I haven’t watched the " news" as they like to call it in over a year. The rebel shows me all I need to know. Any other news can be found on the internet. Of course the left wouldn’t understand that because they need someone to continue to spoonfeed them with socialist ideology all the time. They like to sit there mindlessly letting someone else TELL them what and how to think.
commented 2016-10-01 10:55:03 -0400
With respect to Monsef, the Liberals have taken the position that they can properly vet tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, yet Justin was not capable of vetting the members of his own cabinet. Little Potato Head just doesn’t have what it takes.

The CBC are nothing more than modern day gossips, spreading their version of the truth, that’s always bordering on hysteria, and slanted for overcoming the world, for the UN’s agenda of one world government. Those of us who use our critical thinking skills, just can’t twist our minds into believing their twisted tales. Honestly, my brain hurts trying to understand these fairy tale spinners, and it’s because they are spreading lies, and using deception to confuse and control. so I’ve learned to stay far away from them. The CBC stays because it is the propaganda machine required to keep the sheeple fooled. Those who watch it just don’t realize that they are being fleeced by liars and deceivers, and have been for decades. It’s all part and parcel of the goal of global Marxism.

@jay Kelly……Ernst Udet was one of the greatest stunt piolts who ever lived and became the arms minister for the Luftwaffe. He held the view that the only way to drop a bomb accurately was to roll and dive straight down which was the SOP of stukas. One pilot failed three auditions to demonstrate proficiency but kept comming back and trying out and passed on fourth try out.

Hans Ulrich Rudel had a slogan “Lost is only he who has abandoned himself”

Holding up the CBC as winners in this analogy is like applauding the exploits of someone on a carnival ride where the cockpit is mechanically attached to the ground.

But in any real measure of success and failure Ezra has succeeded where the CBC has failed. Ezra has succeeded in giving Canadians value for their money in journalism. And I have yet to see him abandon himself.

Keep firing the dead wood – no one reads that Torstar/Globe trash anymore.

The other CBC – those shitbags from Kawbeck – whining for MOAR FREE SHIT – would you expect anything else??

That’s great news that Kawbeck media is dying too – no amount of cash will save it either.

CBC is no different from Putin TV. The CBC no more reflects Canadian culture than RT does. CBC’s music streaming is also putting the screws to radio stations. We are being forced to pay for our own silencing. So sick of the propaganda on CBC. I never go there anymore unless I need a good laugh, and even then only after I’ve taken some gravol. Truly vomit in your mouth reporting.
Who the heck watches TV anymore, especially the line up they offer. It’s pathetic and I resent having to pay for it damnit!

Interesting info. I really love this site, the contributors and reporters. It’s one of the last places I trust out there for it’s honesty in saying things as they are in Canadian society. With so many ditching old style cable and of course, news print and magazines, the internet is the new battleground.

What galls me is that, as pointed out here with their operations, the taxpayer funded CBC is systematically shutting down free debate and opinions of Canadians on their official online newscasts. It’s a at travesty, imo. Look at all the major incidents we could be discussing, yet our own draconian funded national broadcaster instead chooses to silence us without one article open to commenting from the average citizen on major points of interest in the country: B.C. LNG Project or the massive moving expenses scandal as examples they don’t want us to hold them accountable for. Unreal.

Once again, Vajay Jay has shown, through his posts, that his metal illness is progressed to a point where there may not be hope for recovery. The same can be said for that other warped mind in Sean boy. It is really a sad existence for these trolls, really, really sad.

Bill Elder, not at all.

In Canada we have a vigorous television landscape and the CBC is part of it.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is all about reflecting Canadian reality back at us.
commented 2016-10-01 01:11:11 -0400
Jay – if you look at the ratings CBC failed the past 2 decades – raping taxpayers for 3rd world broadcasting is the only thing they excel at.

Canadian Cabel is much like 60s soviet TV 200 flavors of the same drivel. I left CanCob behind when pirate sat was available and left TV when streaming opened up the universe to Canadians – too bad yu are stuck in the 70s with cancon cable.

Sun TV did indeed fail.

In Canada there are many choices for Cable TV in a broad open market of mostly U.S. networks. Among them Sun TV failed along with several U.S. outlets.
commented 2016-10-01 00:24:41 -0400
Jay Kelly Sun TV did not fail , they were screwed over , they would have done better than other stations if they got a fair shot. CBC would not make it a week without the advantages they get. In fact they still lose money and hardly anyone watches.

CHARLES NORRIS commented 1 hour ago

Charles, You don’t honestly believe that Trudeau is a Liberal, do You? In my opinion, he is just like his Daddy was, a stinking Communist.

The last thing Daddy did was to visit the USSR and China and this right at the height of the Cold War.

Not criticizing, just surprised.

Poor Ezra Levant. He knows the pain of being a failed private journalist first-hand, and not just at the fiasco of Sun TV.

But today, in Canada, there are actually dozens of local newspapers surviving in print through their solid journalism.

The Manitoulin Expositor, for example, has more original written content and less paid advertising per page than any chain paper. Original, intelligent and inquisitive stories by their own staff. And how do they pay for it? Advertisers, of course, but mainly subscribers who really want to read the paper and will pay for it.

If Ezra Levant or any journalist wants to produce a good paper there will be readers.

But it takes guts, and you need to have great respect for the reader.

As always Ezra a fine example of journalistic rock turning. I offer one …perhaps piciune…point of what I hope will be received as constructive criticism….it is the meaning of the word “hysteria”,

I remember well in the days before Christina Hoff-Sommers had her red pill epiphany attending a lecture on the ideas and issues of feminism at Mount Saint Vincent University….the professor was Deborah Poff…she explained to us that the word “hysteria” meant “wandering womb” (root word in Greek hyster as in hysterectomy) and was an expression of misogyny.

An upstart male (me) pointed out that feminism initially was opposed to the medical diagnosis of PMS…but decided to turn that around and at that time feminist lawyers were invoking it as a defence in cases of infanticide and stoving in your husband’s head with a shovel for leaving the toilet seat up…..and how was “hysteria” any different from PMS?

Well I remember the icy silence and glaring expressions of hatred on their faces.

Liberalism is a mental retardation. It is by far the most deadly disease to the human race.

Liberals can be easily identified as pathetic and short sighted. Even when presented with facts that completely debunk their misguided point of view, they will simply double down and use even more erroneous and irrelevant statements in a pathetic attempt to get the last word in any debate.
Liberals lack any sort of humility. They are incapable of being proven wrong. Debunked liberal CUCKs will simply congregate in larger numbers and fight even harder to defend their pathetic ideology.

This is just my opinion of course, while I can still post it publicly. Ron MacLean & Don Cherry on Saturday night hockey (first intermission) is the only time I’m watching the cbc. Sorry fellow Rebels, it’s only fifteen minutes a week during the winter, hope you can cut me some slack with this one.
