SCANDAL: Is the Speaker of Alberta’s Legislature getting SECRET instructions on rulings -- in advance?

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The Speaker of a Parliament or of any provincial legislature works for all the MLAs, not just the government ones. He’s neutral, in charge of keeping things fair, like a referee.

Which is why what happened yesterday in Alberta is such a scandal.

I’ll show you the speaker reading out a “ruling” on a motion — even though he hadn’t heard the arguments about that motion yet, from the NDP or opposition.

In other words, "his" ruling had already been typed out in advance.

When the MLA behind the motion pointed this out, the speaker kicked him out. You have to see this.

How many times has the legislature been rigged before? How can any MLA ever trust the Speaker again? How can any Albertan? And who is calling the shots?

This isn't democracy. It's democracy theatre...

Ric McIver is the Alberta PC leader, and the MLA who found himself on the wrong side of the speaker's ruling. He joins me to tell his side of the story.

NEXT: Battleground Manitoba: The PCs face off against the ruling NDP in a race that is likely to be an easy win, so what will a PC government look like in Manitoba?

FINALLY: Your emails and messages to me, good and bad -- especially about our take-down of Justin Trudeau's "quantum computing" stunt.

JAMES BARNES - I disagree, can’t get out of the pool yet , we have to stay in longer to get more molested - it’s the Canadian way

Must be a bad day at the MGEU, the Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union.

The NDP speaker issue: Perhaps someone in his office leaked it because they realized it was wrong.

The Alberta Speaker is a “Complete Fraud” . . . so typical of the insane left in Canada these days.
Could it be he was the Camp Councillor who trained our vacuous PM?

The NDP’s corruption is only outdone by their incompetence.

Good luck Manitoba. The NDP – Party of the petty.

If the opposition parties don’t keep this issue out their to expose this corruption to the masses, they might as well join the NDP. This breech of public duty needs to be exposed for the criminal act that it is, because I think that the speaker is taking kick backs from the NDP, and he needs to be charged for his criminal actions. Step down Speaker, you are embarrassment to democracy and freedom. Shame on you for your actions have undermined democracy. I hope your family and friends are as ashamed of you as I am! Step down and do the right thing here.

That Speaker has to be FIRED!!!!

In retrospect, allowing the teachers’ union to take over the PC party, and then voting in the NDP out of spite was not very smart.

Since the NDP were elected I have watched only portions of three question period sessions. All three times it was not government business being conducted but instead it was two groups yelling and cat calling at each other. In the middle was Bob Wanner, the speaker. I could see Bob getting increasingly agitated and finally stand up and basically tell the Wildrose to shut up. This of course resulted in the NDP reacting with laughter and cat calls.
On another occasion Brian Mason filed some documents that basically accused the Wildrose of improper conduct or misrepresenting their assertions that the NDP were acting improperly. I remember seeing Mason throw these documents on the table and sneering across the floor.
I only saw a very small portion of these question periods but it appears that there is more bickering going on than actual government business. This is no big surprise and neither is the actions by Bob Wanner as he is an angry little man. I may go down to the legislature some day and sit through one of these sessions to see just how screwed up our so called democracy is in Alberta.

The left is corrupt , anyone who doe snot know this is a moron. If this was a conservative government this would the ultimate scandal in history, but since it is NDP it is merely to be ignored.

Tonight in MB, the NDP got booted out & it’s about time after 17 yrs.
The PC leader is caving in, almost making excuses, why, I don’t know. The Speaker is a puppet, robot, whatever & this whole thing is a sham & the opposition should not let this die down, the evidence is as clear as a bell & answers from Notley should be demanded. This is corruption & Albertans are forking out money to pay this sheister of a Speaker. Notley is making fools out of Albertans & it’s about time somebody calls her out on the scam gov’t she’s running.

Everything is fake and I have lost faith in my Government.
We are now in a Dictatorship.
I find is strange that Alberta is too soft and weak to stand up for Democracy.
It’s Time. The Party is over. Everyone out of the pool.

I’ll bet that this has been happening since he became the speaker. He needs to be shown the door, like Rick McIvor was. His personal accounts and assets need to be audited, to see if he came into some money, since being hired.

That was not a sip of water the speaker was having, Belvedere from the freezer. Hish entitled to hish entitlemenshs This guy has got to go. Proof positive that he is not up to his responsibilities.

With the ndpigs lousy approval rating, Revolution is the only answer. As more and more people need the food bank, the bigger the crowd gets at the Ledge. Wait till the economy REALLY hits the crapper and folks will want to take their pound of flesh off of environutley and her minions. See ya wouldn’t wanna be ya and don’t let the door hit ya where God split ya, mister speaker.

There needs to be a RCMP investigation into the corruption & collusion of our governments – When our governments are being so blatent in their disregard for Law & Order – how the hell do they expect the common people to adhere to law??!!
Damn it is good to see the NDPiggers getting their asses handed to them!! Way to go Manitoba!

The Speaker of AB needs to step down immediately. His lack of integrity is appalling in a democracy. And he looked like trapped rat trying to defend his position. It looks like the rot runs deep and wide in Rachel’s world. Is there anyone that isn’t corrupt? Rachel needs to call an election, but that would be the right thing to do for the people, and we know how much Rachel despises those of us paying for her keep. But we all know that she won’t do the right thing, because her and union birds of a feather, love power and money and dictating what others should do. The government of AB reeks of union corruption!

I feel it was someone from the NDP who gave the speaker “his” ruling because they’re like the federal liberals in that they want to undo everything their predecessors did or plan to do. The speaker should resign and the citizen’s of Alberta should find a way to hold another election now before the NDP wingnuts can do any more damage than they’ve already done.

Good for McIver, but this will help to prop up the PROGRESSIVE conservative Party. I’ve not seen a lot of conservative thinkers in the PC party, that’s why the Wildrose split from it.

Back in the day when the Premier was named Lougheed and the Opposition Leader was named Notley, no Speaker would have screwed up this badly without his head landing on a platter real quick. As Archie and Edith used to sing, “Those Were The Days.”

Most real speakers who exhibit good faith and understand what the job is really about do it to the best of their ability while being aware they have probably burned their bridges within their own party for a considerable time to come.
This person is a disgrace and has zero intention of acting in an impartial correct manner.
commented 2016-04-19 20:19:54 -0400
Instruction obviously from the Alberta teachers union. Notley supports only her supporters not the average citizen.
commented 2016-04-19 20:16:12 -0400
This ruling read by the speaker is such a serious breech of government procedure and democracy that I cannot believe this has happened. What can be done about it.
