#CPC18 SPECIAL: Scheer vs. Bernier, the Media Party's Rebel obsession & looking ahead to 2019

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The Conservative Party banned The Rebel from their convention in Halifax, but of course, we're here anyway!

The big story, of course, is Maxime Bernier's resignation from the party, reportedly to start his own.

Tonight I'll explain why I think this was a bad decision, not just for the Conservatives, but for the country — especially with a federal election looming next year.

But there was another big story, at least according to the Media Party — that's right, it was about us!

Believe it or not, today the Globe & Mail reported on this earthshaking scandal:

That Hamish Marshall (who helped me start The Rebel Media in 2015, and now works for Andrew Scheer) said hello to Sheila Gunn Reid! Twice!

I'm not joking. The Globe & Mail is Canada's national newspaper of record, and they called this a "top story."

As funny and ridiculous as this "story" is, it indicates a serious problem — and not just with the Media Party's bias and weird priorities.

The Conservatives themselves are indulging in some bizarre "spin" too: I'll tell you what they said about The Rebel after this "news" went viral, and it doesn't give me much confidence in the party's ability to fight to win.

If they think they have to go into damage control after casually greeting former conservative colleagues in public, do you really think they have what it takes to go up against Trudeau and the Liberals?

Except Andrew Scheer’s worst enemy in the 2019 election will not be Justin Trudeau, possibly the laziest man in Canadian politics, whose schtick — the dancing, the selfies, the costumes – is wearing thin on Canadians.

Justin Trudeau is not Scheer’s opponent.

The Media Party is...

NEXT: Sheila Gunn Reid is with me here in Halifax, and we've got her interviews with two convention delegates and grassroots conservatives, Clinton P. Desveaux and Prem Singh. They discuss the divide that sometimes exists between ordinary members and the party establishment.

We'll have more coverage of the convention to come over the weekend.

Like Trudeau, Scheer is the puppet of the globalist establishment. Either under Trudeau or Scheer, corporate welfare will flourish, taxes including carbon taxes will increase, immigration if not illegal, will increase, and freedom of speech will be theorical, we have to take care of the islamists being imported by the thousands if not millions. I am sorry for Canada but maybe that’s what Canadians need: islamic communism.
Sorry but I wll not vote for Scheer, neither for Trudeau, and surely not for Singh. This is a travesty of democracy.

Sonny, you are straight up f’cking liar. He never left because of content on the Rebel. I guess you do have a smaller brain then even I thought you had. There is one racist bigot here and that is you! So f’ck off!

Does anyone really think that, if Trudeau gets another four years in the driver’s seat, the soul of the country will survive? We’ll have punishing carbon taxes, suffocating political correctness and unbridled immigration. Gun owner? Get ready to hand them in…welcome to Sweden West…

Scheer’s speech today at the convention avoided any subjects that the rank-and-file want discussed. It was just a good cheerleading speech with lots of platitudes about freedom etc. I would be very frustrated if I were a delegate at the convention, wanting to know where precisely he intends to take the party on specific matters, something he is clearly afraid to articulate. He isn’t a leader, he is a cheerleader, and the CPC has got to hold another leadership contest and toss Scheer well before the next election, or there will be another Liberal majority government.

Sonny, give it a rest with Brian Lilly. You are flat out lying about the reason he left and if you have even a teeny brain in your head you know that.

I don’t think Mad Max will actually start a new party, but I do think he is going to be a very active critic of Smilin’ Andy. The left stream media will be more than happy to give him lots of coverage because he is more interesting than Andy and because he will embarrass the CPC as it betrays it’s base.

- Scheer doesn’t listen to The Rebel, he listens to the CBC. The result is that he has a divided party that trails a Liberal party train wreck in the polls that he should be leading by at least 10 points. The media party knows that The Rebel is their enemy. They’re terrified of The Rebel. Unfortunately Scheer cares more about what the media party thinks than what their conservative base thinks. Andrew Scheer is cementing his place in history as a weak & ineffective leader.

- Great to see young people getting involved like Prem Singh. The people have to take the party back from the loser establishment. Clinton P. Desveaux may get his way from Trudeau himself. Supply management is a sticking point in getting any trade deal with the US & Trudeau may have to end it to save his own political hide. If a trade way starts Canada will pay a huge price & it will happen very quickly.

Smilin’ Andy will never become the leader he needs to be. His kowtowing to the fascist left by banning The Rebel and throwing fellow conservatives under the bus while professing to be a champion of free speech demonstrates there is something fundamentally wrong with him.. The sooner he goes the better because this guy will never get the backing of the conservative grassroots. You simply cannot believe a word he says.

Hopefully Bernier will carry the attitude that he is not afraid of the media and will speak his mind for those that support him:.
