#CPC18 SPECIAL: Scheer vs. Bernier, the Media Party's Rebel obsession & looking ahead to 2019

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The Conservative Party banned The Rebel from their convention in Halifax, but of course, we're here anyway!

The big story, of course, is Maxime Bernier's resignation from the party, reportedly to start his own.

Tonight I'll explain why I think this was a bad decision, not just for the Conservatives, but for the country — especially with a federal election looming next year.

But there was another big story, at least according to the Media Party — that's right, it was about us!

Believe it or not, today the Globe & Mail reported on this earthshaking scandal:

That Hamish Marshall (who helped me start The Rebel Media in 2015, and now works for Andrew Scheer) said hello to Sheila Gunn Reid! Twice!

I'm not joking. The Globe & Mail is Canada's national newspaper of record, and they called this a "top story."

As funny and ridiculous as this "story" is, it indicates a serious problem — and not just with the Media Party's bias and weird priorities.

The Conservatives themselves are indulging in some bizarre "spin" too: I'll tell you what they said about The Rebel after this "news" went viral, and it doesn't give me much confidence in the party's ability to fight to win.

If they think they have to go into damage control after casually greeting former conservative colleagues in public, do you really think they have what it takes to go up against Trudeau and the Liberals?

Except Andrew Scheer’s worst enemy in the 2019 election will not be Justin Trudeau, possibly the laziest man in Canadian politics, whose schtick — the dancing, the selfies, the costumes – is wearing thin on Canadians.

Justin Trudeau is not Scheer’s opponent.

The Media Party is...

NEXT: Sheila Gunn Reid is with me here in Halifax, and we've got her interviews with two convention delegates and grassroots conservatives, Clinton P. Desveaux and Prem Singh. They discuss the divide that sometimes exists between ordinary members and the party establishment.

We'll have more coverage of the convention to come over the weekend.

Normally, this show is behind our paywall. If you like what you've seen tonight, and want to join our thousands of Premium Members so you can watch every episode, please SIGN UP! We have a great lineup of shows from me, Sheila and more that bring you, as always, the other side of the story!

Do you not speak directly to the trolls but if one must have a rebuttal only speak to it in a third-party context.

If you want a quiet conversation with like minded conservatives, I think you should invite some close friends over for a nice dinner and serve copious amounts of wine. If you post comments here, you had better be ready for a lively debate, which really is a integral part of politics. A healthy argument is a good thing, as well as being lots of fun. As for the trolls, when they make outrageous claims, I think they must be engaged. I often use the 3rd person approach, as I am here, but sometimes close quarter arguments are more satisfying. If one does not appreciate the arguments, one is quite free to skip over them.

Population and Urban Development
The 1871 census indicates that the population of Quebec was nearly 1.2 million, of which 86% was Catholic. Of the total population, 78% was French, 10% was Irish, 6% was English, and 5% was Scottish. At the time of Confederation, the total population of the British North American colonies was about 3.5 million, of which 75% lived in United Canada (Quebec and Ontario). About 80% of the population of United Canada lived in rural areas.

Just like I thought… Not a whole lot of Muslim population in there… As I said in my other post that article was written by a Muslim and anybody that goes against it is “obviously a racist” and sometimes it’s just easier at the time to go with the flow.

Hyacinth..I watched and listened to at least 3 rally’s of Trump’s uncensored rally’s before he became President Trump.. There was nothing racist..it was the opposite..his rallies were bringing Americans together..

The leftard trolls don’t know what the word means. It’s like all of their slanders – Nazi, KKK, dictator, etc., they have zero clue to the origins of the word/groups but use the those nonetheless as good little indoctrinated communists are taught to.

There is an article, unbelievably that reads as a defense against those calling Trump a racist in the Huffpost archives. In that article he defines what racism is and why Trump is NOT a racist.

“Contrary to popular belief, Donald Trump is not a racist. According to Google, the definition of racist is “a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.” …. But, you may be asking, isn’t it racist when he talks about banning Muslims from entering the U.S. and saying that illegal Mexican immigrants are rapists and criminals? Nope. Why? Because: Muslims aren’t a race Mexico isn’t a race

Yes, many of Trumps’s statements seem racist, but it’s just a plain fact that they’re not."

Educating trolls never work because you just can’t fix stupid, however it does remove some of their verbal diarrhea from being taken seriously by new viewers to the site.

I think Horwath has soured people of Ontario on NDP and Notley in Alberta, my guess would be all those small fringe groups that never gain traction will gain some votes.

The History of Muslims in Canada
BY HASSAM MUNIR · NOVEMBER 30, 2015

In 2015, Canada Day fell in the middle of Ramadan (the most sacred month of the lunar Islamic calendar) for the first time in about thirty years. The last time that happened, the Muslim population of Canada numbered just around 100,000 people (about 0.38% of the Canadian population at that time).
:;-:-;-:-;-:-;-:-;-:-;-:-;
This article in its entirety is written by a Muslim practising his taquia for the subjugation of nonbelievers.!!
If Canada had that many Muslims running around we would’ve seen them wearing the burkas and mosques would’ve been popping up like dandelions… But for Bernier to disagree with the statement no matter how he felt about it would’ve branded him an outcast by almost everything left and just right of centre.
The Truth is strong medicine.. very strong medicine indeed… It must be administered in small doses.

Flatwater,

Refuting the trolls’ lies is not feeding them. Ignoring their lies is feeding them in my opinion. ‘Sonny’ has flat out stated that he is never going away (neither are the others), so we either ignore their lies and let casual viewers think we can’t refute them, or we refute their lies for the benefit of those viewers. I choose the latter. As for energies better used, I consider refuting their lies a very good use for my energy. Hopefully I have some left over for other matters, and I appear to, so don’t worry about that.

I’m off for a while so I leave it to the rest of you to carry on the good fight for The Rebel and Canada. See you later…

Therefore Andrew must stop listening to outsiders. Their intention is to totally destroy the conservative victory. We want to see a landslide victory next year.

“The CHP yes, but I think Mr. Bernier is going to disappoint a lot people who have read his recent tweets but not much more about or from him. His interview with a Muslim organization at the time of the CPC leadership race revealed some disturbing things, among them a claim from him that there were 100,000 Muslims in Canada at the time of Confederation, in 1867.”

Why the intentional deception by Bernier? Vote catering? Sounds like it.

Wiki: Canadian Confederation (French: Confédération canadienne) was the process by which the British colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into one Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867

http://thelinkcanada.ca/history-muslims-canada/
The first recorded Muslims in Canadian history were James and Agnes Love, a young couple who had apparently converted to Islam in their native Scotland before they migrated to Canada in 1854, settling in Ontario. These “Mohametans” had several children, including James, who was born just after their arrival. Their youngest son Alexander was born in 1868, one year after Confederation, and secured his spot in history as the first recorded Muslim born in Canada as we know it today. ….The Muslim population of Canada continued to grow quickly, reaching 797 in 1911 before suffering a sharp decline over the next twenty years. The decline was due mostly to the fact that immigrants, upon arriving in Canada, often realized that there were better opportunities in the United States – especially in the 1930s as the Great Depression hit – and resettled there instead. …

Ron Voss and Ron Jospeh,

I explained my reasons for responding to the trolls. It isn’t for fun. It is for the truth to not be buried under a pack of lies from them on this website comments section. I and others here will not let that happen, and if it makes some uncomfortable, I apologize for that, but we cannot let the trolls win and destroy this site with their lies that are intended to do just that. As far as I am concerned, anyone who lets that happen does not take their threat seriously enough and should wake up to what they are up to here. It isn’t just to annoy us. It is to separate other conservative media outlets and the CPC from The Rebel and ultimately to destroy The Rebel. The situation we are in with the trolls here can be summed up by this quote (paraphrased): “All that evil needs to be victorious is for good men to do nothing.” So I won’t be doing nothing, and neither will others here, because truth matters. Rather than allow the trolls to have free space for their lies here, I suggest you also devote some time to refuting those lies. We still have lots of space for other subjects, as for example my last comment, to Luigi. I hope that helps, but I have my reasons, which I have outlined in my other comments on this thread today, and I believe they are legitimate. I hope you agree, but if not, we will just have to disagree on this one. I do appreciate your comments in general, and I’m sorry if you don’t appreciate all of mine, but I won’t let the trolls lie about The Rebel and get away with it. There is too much at stake, both for The Rebel and for Canada.

If I could direct events, I would …

1) have all Conservatives vote for the CPC in this upcoming federal election because they are (at least marginally) better than the Liberals just to get Justin out of office. Bernier will not be ready in a year.

then

2) When Bernier has his party ready in 5 years have all Conservatives vote for that party giving the Conservatives a solid majority.

Use the CPC as a stepping stone to a real Conservative party.

But then, I am just dreaming. The right will split and Justine “the feminist Jihadi” Trudeau will be PM again able to destroy Canada in any way he sees fit … or rather any way Gerald Butts and Omar Alghabra see fit.

Luigi,

Thank you for posting here at The Rebel, one of the few true conservative journalistic outlets in Canada.

I entirely agree with you except for this statement: “Real conservatism is with Mr. Bernier…”

The CHP yes, but I think Mr. Bernier is going to disappoint a lot people who have read his recent tweets but not much more about or from him. His interview with a Muslim organization at the time of the CPC leadership race revealed some disturbing things, among them a claim from him that there were 100,000 Muslims in Canada at the time of Confederation, in 1867. I don’t buy that for a second, and there are other indications that he is a social liberal, not a social conservative. I question whether it was principle that caused him to quit the CPC, or just a fit of anger because he had been sidelined by Scheer. Now I think Scheer has to go because he should never have allowed this split to happen, and it demonstrates that he lacks leadership skills necessary to win in 2019. The CPC needs to elect a better leader now to accomplish that. But I suggest that conservatives take a much harder look at Mr. Bernier before jumping on board with him in a new party that will only split the conservative vote and re-elect Traitor Trudeau in 2019.

Flat Earth said, “The monkey troll is still unable or unwilling to bring physical evidence of racism…”

Ahh, but don’tcha know that he does not need any actual proof of racism because his say so is enough, just like all trolls, their accusations are are the proof.

More important response to … "It will look like Sweden France Germany Austria Italy and so on.. Then national parties will become very very popular and the homegrown people will know what their politicians were up to while they were sleeping. "

I hope you are wrong about that prediction, but I fear you are not. At the rate the dipshit is importing “refugees” wholesale and without proper vetting in addition to just letting them cross the US border, your prediction has an eerie cold truth to it.

Ted Tadright—-I’m hoping that you will now know what I’m talking about; since I mentioned Faith’s name and you mentioned Charlottesville, there have been 10 comments on that subject which is over a year old. The trolls helped us go off subject which was the Convention, Scheer and Bernier.

Flat Earth,Flat Water,——I’m not sure if you are commenting to me, as what you seem to be accusing this Ron of saying is the opposite of what I said.

Please Ron… Do not invite the trolls as the needs of the many far exceed the needs of the one… You being the one.

The rest of your comment also seems a little mixed up although the last sentence is great advise. Maybe I will better understand your comments when I try some of Trudeau’s legal grass.
