Why Hudson's Bay dumped Ivanka Trump's clothing line (Guest host: David Menzies)

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Attention Hudson’s Bay shoppers! The Ivanka Trump clothing line is heading to the clearance bin.

But what is responsible for its demise? Is it poor sales — or mounting pressure by the usual suspects?

It's The Bay’s right to sell or not to sell anything it so chooses. And a Bay spokesperson said the phase out was based on the line's "performance."

But is this really about bending to the will of progressive bullies? More than 40 companies and organizations are listed on the #GrabYourWallet boycott list, either because they carry Trump products or they have some indirect connection with the President.

From what I can tell, such progressive protesters aren’t even into high fashion in the first place; meanwhile, those who are Trump supporters might now find themselves royally peeved-off.

I'm not sure how this is a winning move by The Bay...

NEXT: On a similar topic, Edmonton Sun columnist Lorne Gunter comes on to talk about the real reasons behind Greyhound's decision to scrap service across much of the prairies.

THEN: Marc Morano, founder of Climate Depot, joins me to talk about the fact that America had the largest decline in C02 emissions in the world for the ninth time this century — "despite" Trump scrapping the Paris Climate Accord.

FINALLY: Your messages!

Ted Tadright,

Please explain what dressing well and liking style and fashion has to do with racism and homophobia?

‘Tony’,

So you “dress very well” and are “into style and men’s fashion”?

You’re obviously a racist misogynist homophobe.

No offence…

Tony: I’m sure your taste in clothing is more ‘stark’ than tasteful.
Why would you defend how you dress when no one sees you?
Hey, nothing wrong with Walmart. Your idol’s wife, Michelle, shops at Target.

Jan G,

I actually dress very well. I am into style and men’s fashion. I don’t shop at Walmart like you all do.

Muta Ween,

No, she became a pariah when she claimed that she would fight for women and keep her Dad in check, but has only shown to be complicit in her actions – the direct opposite of what she promised she would do.

Good point Hyacinth…“activist investor dissatisfied”
These idiot beevers don’t even know Lord of the Rings is all about Catholicism. Imagine when they find out they were quoting a Christian story.
So now this Tony Stark is Jeanne Beker? And someone like him/her wears Army Navy or Sally Ann to sit in front of his/her computer all day?

“How is it that Hudson’s Bay has not gone under yet, when so many other stores have closed down?”

HBC is a conglomerate of stores/businesses now not just Hudson’s Bay store, and they are having financial difficulties though they are trying to paint a rosy picture:

Hudson’s Bay CEO Says Closing Stores Starts A Spiral That ‘Can’t Be Stopped’
… At the same time, HBC has not been spared the winds whipping brick-and-mortar retailers. Saks Fifth Avenue was the only HBC business division with comparable sales increases last quarter, but the luxury department store, like rivals , Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s (part of Macy’s Inc), had been struggling not long before. Earlier this year, HBC announced 2,000 job cuts and the company is dueling with an activist investor dissatisfied with its financial performance.

Hey Tony,

You truly are a dipshit.

Ivanka became a pariah the moment her father reached the bottom of the escalotor at Trump Tower to declare his candidacy for the Republican Party. This is the example of the modern leftist movement which claims to be all virtuous and inclusive but are actually the worst bigots.

Hey Dave,

Have you seen how you dress? You are not exactly Giorgio Armani or style ready for GQ, so you are in no position to comment on progressives and their interest in high fashion.

The progressives havn’t begun to fight. In spite of the fact that America is leading the way in C2 reduction, they won’t believe the report card. It doesn’t fit their notions of how things ought to be. I’m sure water vapour will be the next taxable element. Then they’ll slap emission taxes on gassy foods like beans and cabbage because they create methane. Oxygen is a corrosive gas and poses a hazard to iron, copper, and other metals. I suspect we’ll be slapped with window taxes because they lose heat in the winter. And what good is nitrogen? It’s unfair that it’s the largest component of our atmosphere. What about poor mercury, argon, and krypton? Isn’t it unfair that they’re such rare gasses? As you can see, leftist insanity is endless.

I have not run into Vince Li here on the streets of Winnipeg.

- My first thought was, Hudson Bay are still in business? I can’t remember the last time I saw one & don’t know anyone who shopped there since I was a kid. An interesting business move – alienate a huge chunk of your customer base & hope it brings you more business. I’m sure a government bailout is in the works. That woman was upset about what Trump said in that video – how much do you want to bet she’s still okay with Prime Minister Groper.

- Canada needs a Trump type to bring in deregulation. Government can’t run anything & overregulation is their way of running other people’s businesses without actually taking them over. The only remedy that will work is to deregulate – something Prime Minister Groper’s government will never do.

- The Obama administration declared war on the coal industry. This led to a fracking boom (despite efforts to end it) which led to the US burning natural gas & lowering its CO2 emissions (something the climate alarmists ignore). Embracing green energy has raised the CO2 emissions of the EU (another something climate alarmists ignore). CO2 is not a pollutant. Green energy isn’t green & isn’t viable. Environmentalists could care less about the environment.

The Peeved Beaver spokeswoman presented as a very low IQ protester. She probably went home patting herself on the back and posted photos of herself “protecting women’s rights” – one of Justin’s groupies no doubt!
Notice she couldn’t compute the real life example of oppression and misogyny that is Saudi Arabia!!!

Great interviews David.
