At first I was delighted to learn that Trudeau's team, including his foreign minister Chrystia Freeland, had brought in a professional negotiator named Steve Verheul as part of the NAFTA negotiation team.
But then I saw a shocking video, which I'll show you tonight:
While sitting next to Freeland on a panel, Verheul is asked a pretty obvious question:
How are negotiations going with the U.S.?
And he admits that there have been no active negotiations for weeks.
In other words: There hasn’t been any progress at all in getting a trade deal since Trudeau and Trump had their Twitter battle at the G7.
We’re falling off the rails. The train is derailing. Our biggest trading partner — who’s going to war against China, against the EU, against Mexico — we’re getting swept up in that.
We shouldn’t be. We pretty much have trade parity with the U.S. We’re not like China or Mexico. But Trudeau won’t give up his Quebec dairy farmer cartel, or a few other things that most Canadians don’t really care about.
(Oh, and Trudeau took his 16th “personal day” off work today. Like he did the day after the G7 itself.)
This is a crisis.
Don’t take it from me. Take it from every single Canadian bank, that’s panicking right now, like Scotiabank, warning that the worst recession in a decade may be on its way.
And they aren't the only ones, as I'll show you tonight.
So how did the CBC treat this news? They giggled. I'm serious, and I'll show you that too.
But the 160,000 Ontarians who will lose their jobs — none of them will work for the CBC, will they...?
NEXT: Manny Montenegrino, President & CEO Think Sharp Inc., comes back on the show to talk more about this looming crisis.
THEN: Guess who is on the SPLC's "hate watch" list now? Daniel Pipes of the Middle East Forum. He joins me to talk about these accusations, and the left's insistence on calling people they don't agree with — and who know more about topics like Islam than they do — "bigots."
FINALLY: Your messages to me — and a note about what to expect from me and The Rebel as some of our team heads out on our mission to Israel tonight.
