SPECIAL: Joel Pollak on the history (and future) of conservative media in an era of leftwing censorship

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Prior to leaving on The Rebel's mission to Israel, I taped a number of in-depth interviews to air on my evening show.

Tonight I talk to one of our favourite guests, Senior Editor-at-Large at Breitbart.com, Joel Pollak.

We discuss the challenges faced by conservative media in the face of censorship and sabotage by powerful platforms like Facebook and Twitter — Did you know that Amazon happens to own one of the big website traffic monitors, and that someone there briefly "unplugged" Breitbart.com's counter?

Not all the opposition comes from the left, either, as Joel explains...

Oh and I wouldn’t hold your breath for that one on one interview with Ezra and Scheer. It would just be a bad decision with the toxic stink that The Rebel can’t clean off of themselves. Better off to do interviews with the conservative Sun papers.

Ted Tadright,

No, I mean batshit crazy extreme conservatism that made Rebel co-founder Brian Lilly leave this place among other former contributors, because they were embarrassed to have their name attached to The Rebel.

Think about that for a second – Ezra and Brian were great friends, worked together often, were on Sun News TV together and when that crashed – they decided to start a new conservative source in Canada. It got to a point though where Ezra was taking The Rebel into an extreme right direction and that became toxic for Brian, who is not a liberal in any sense of the word.

Mr. Lilley wrote: "I was never enamoured by the ‘alt-right’, never saw the appeal but I take Ezra at his word when he describes his evolution. But just as he has evolved, just as The Rebel has evolved, so have I and the uncomfortable dance that I have been doing for some time now must come to an end.

“What The Rebel suffers from is a lack of editorial and behavioural judgment that left unchecked will destroy it and those around it. For that reason, I am leaving.

“As a serious journalist with nearly 20 years’ experience at the highest levels in this country, and abroad, I cannot be a part of this. “I don’t think these guys are racist, but I think there’s… ahh, it’s getting too close for these guys,” said Lilley.

I think you are so entrenched in extreme conservatism, that you think it’s normal and can’t be objective – so you don’t understand why reasonable and rational conservatives find The Rebel toxic.

Ron,

I think you’re right. I wouldn’t vote for CHP in my own riding, because a CHP candidate would have no chance of winning my riding, and I want the Christian-hating Liberals defeated. I would like to see CHP run a few candidates in ridings they could possibly win, i.e. heavily Christian ridings. That could result in a Conservative minority government with CHP holding the balance of power, which would finally put real conservatives in the driver’s seat in Canada and ensure a real conservative federal government that would stop the destruction of Canadian culture, and the Canadian people. Otherwise we will see Canada itself destroyed in our lifetime.

Ted Tadright….Some excellent level headed comments about Scheer and some ideas that he should adhere to.
In the past I thought you were behaving too much like Scheer’s Guardian Angel, but here you provided some good strategy for Conservatives to win in 2019.

Your possible vote for the Christian Heritage Party scares me, as at this time I think the election will be close, mostly because the NDP’s Singh has been a no-show so far.

What ‘Tony Stark’ (one of the leftist trolls who frequents this site and changes his moniker frequently) means by “batshit crazy extreme conservative” and " toxic conservative" is conservatism that is real and not globalist Red Tory sellout ‘conservatism’, i.e. the type of phony ‘conservatism’ that he and other globalists can live with.

The Conservative Party of Canada won’t win the next federal election without the votes of The Rebel’s audience, and the leadership better realize that before that election if they want to win. Their boycotting this site will not help turn out the conservative vote on election day and they better realize that before the next federal election.

I don’t believe Scheer has any real beef with The Rebel’s conservative ideological slant. I believe he has been intimidated by the smear campaign being leveled at The Rebel by the MSM and the likes of "Tony Stark’. But I won’t be donating any money to the Conservative Party of Canada until Scheer grants an interview to Ezra Levant on The Rebel website, and I’m not alone in that sentiment. Scheer would be wise to do the interview.

I’ll be voting Conservative in the next federal election unless the Christian Heritage party runs a candidate in my riding, in which case I will vote for the CHP candidate. I would not suggest splitting the conservative vote on a large scale, but electing a few CHP MP’s is long overdue. It’s time Christians got some representation in Parliament before we are completely marginalized by both the Liberal and Conservative Parties.

To clarify further – let’s not forget that the co-founder of The Rebel and many past contributors quit because The Rebel became something that they did not like and could no loner be associated with – again, toxic extreme conservatism. Brian Lilly is certainly not liberal.

David Heinze,

The Conservative Party Of Canada wants nothing to do with this place. Same with many Canadian conservatives as well. Why? Because The Rebel represents batshit crazy extreme conservatism and is simply viewed as toxic for Canada by reasonable and rational conservatives.

Indeed Ron Joseph… That news about Harper going to the White House has to be causing major rectal itch for both Buttskie and the Boy Blunder… What!… He didn’t consult the gurus in Ottawa or seek “permission”!?… Sacre bleu!… But it only goes to prove that the White House is very well aware that the current “high school debating team” from Ottawa does not reflect the views of the majority of Canadians and that reality lies elsewhere… I can hear the teeth-grinding in Ottawa tonight from all the way here on the Left Coast…

Andy Neimers….Yep..

The left is in panic mode these days. The mainstream media has lost pretty much all of its credibility & in many cases must be propped up by outside sources. CNN now gets lower ratings than the Food Channel. They want to shut alternative news media down so that they will be the only voice. It’s up to people to make alternative news media sites successful, with their eyes & wallets. Breitbart is one of my many news sources. I have their app on my phone (right next to The Rebel app).

Good show, on the point of Conservatives avoiding The Rebel. As a contributor, I keep getting calls looking for Funds. I Keep telling them, last years donation went to the Rebel, and ask them when will I see Andrew Sheer and others on Ezra’s show.

In the end we will have to support them, they are the least of the evils, however, I would encourage others to ask when they can expect to see Andrew and others on Ezra’s show.

Off subject-slow night——-Great news, the MSM is mad because Harper has an appointment at the WHITE HOUSE next week , and he didn’t ask the Socks King permission. (CTV News Channel)

If you watch the above station in the morning, the low IQ news readers will harp on Harper for doing this.
