Doug Ford to lead Ontario Conservatives — Why that's important, no matter where you live

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

In seven weeks, the PC Party of Ontario has been transformed:

From supporting a carbon tax to railing against it. From supporting wind turbines to threatening to rip them out of the ground. From bending the knee and submitting to the mainstream media’s idea of what an acceptable conservative is — to bashing the media and ignoring them, Trump-style.

From Patrick Brown to Doug Ford.

I can’t believe it. And I’m so hopeful, for a bunch of reasons that I’ll tell you

It was a hectic leadership contest. Patrick Brown was the leader just seven weeks ago — and then a CTV attack on his alleged sexual misconduct — some allegations of which have been recanted; and Brown says he’s going to sue them — Brown was leader less than two months ago, with a boring, soft-left, Red Tory platform, including a carbon tax.

What’s the point in having a Conservative Party that is indistinguishable from the Liberal Party on all core ideas?

Sure, Kathleen Wynne is corrupt and has ruined the economy. But that was true before. Running another focus-grouped, artificial candidate against her, and her Big Labour war machine, doesn’t work.

Well, that’s gone now. And I think Doug Ford's got a real chance to be premier, too.

The media is hostile — of course, but I don’t think that works as well as it used to.

So are other groups. I'll show you an outrageous attack ad, published by... the Canadian Civil Liberties Association! An allegedly non-partisan charity, and they're campaigning against Ford.

But that’s a good sign — the degree with which Ford’s enemies hate him shows the degree to which they think he is a real force for change.

NEXT: Our own David Menzies comes on to talk about being barred from covering the leadership election on Saturday — and who was behind that decision!

THEN: Toronto Sun columnist Anthony Furey and I look to the future: Does Doug Ford really have a chance of beating Wynne in the upcoming election?

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

Now it makes me wonder if the liberals will try to get themselves a new leader. Just like the Manitoba NDP tried with Greg Sellinger.

I watched the coverage of the convention late Saturday night on CTV National. There were two political analysts, one conservative and one liberal. The liberal supporter basically conceded that Ford would win the election and the liberals were finished. The writing is on the wall. Ontario is sick and tired and fed up with McGuinty/Wynne politics and the corrupt PC insiders are getting nervous as Doug is going to fire their ass out the door.

Bob Rock.. I am not “my brother’s keeper” for what they chose to do, or not, on the Internet… You posted ME a question as to the authenticity of the name that I post under, and I replied… Fair enough!?…

Andy,

Sure.

Please call out Flat Earth too, otherwise you are hypocrite.

Bob Rock said.. Andy Neimers,

I have numerous times – then I get banned numerous times, so it’s fun playing with different names now.

How do I know Andy is your real name?

Why isn’t Flat Earth and many conservatives here like Hyacinth using their real name. Do they not have the courage of their convictions? I don’t see you calling them out. Why? Because you are a fucking hypocrite.

Dear Bob Rock.. Try “Andy Neimers” – Environmental Reporter, St. Catharines Standard in the 70s.. Ditto, Western Ontario Newspaper Award… And how about ICBC “Community Relations Manager” for 15 years?… Want more?…

Jimmy Bob, learn to read dufus.

TAMMIE PUTINSKI-ZANDBELT, Doug Ford handled that interview quite well with that leftist interviewer. Is there a softer side of Doug Ford? Ya, I’m going to get government off the backs of the people of Ontario. Then pulls out the Trump boogeyman card that the left likes to bludgeon conservative politicians in Canada with. Heard the same accusation about Jason Kenney. Compare the Toronto Stock Exchange with the Canadian One. Thinking people aren’t buying the left’s narrative that Trump is some kind of ogre and fascist.

Unbelievable, watching CBC National and they did a 5 minute special on Ford’s chances of winning Scarborough which has been a Ont. Liberal Riding for 14 years. Everyone said they loved the Ford Family or were going to look deeper into voting for Doug.
It was extremely positive for Ford, and CBC didn’t censor it.

Good job David, you exposed Princess Caroline for the Anti Democracy, Spoiled, Elitist, Thin Skinned Darling that she is. The poor Little Rich Girl didn’t like the nasty man’s question . And she wants to be Premier? Thankfully Doug saved us all from that Fate. The police, once they were on scene and found out the situation, they should have told the Security Boob that he has to honor the Freedom of the Press. Then they should have left, they are not there to do the bidding of one person who thinks that they are above everyone else. I have seen video of police Cowards using their position to throw out of public buildings Kevin Johnston and Sandra Soloman. When they do that, they should be ashamed of themselves, David posed no threat and was not misbehaving or being unruly. I guess they like feeling like Big Men by taking on a safe target, rather than going after real criminals. That’s NOT what I pay for in my Taxes. Sick and tired of the police acting like intimidating heavies for some, “Do You Know Who I Am” type, drowning in their own self importance. Glad Doug won, yeah they tried everything they could think of to have results that favored their chosen candidate Christine. But Justice Prevailed, in spite of the executives dislike for the two outsider candidates of Doug and Tanya. I know, I can’t wait to see Tanya Rip those Windmills out of the Ground. Doug will win the Premiership and we can say Goodbye and Good Riddance to Evil Auntie Wynne as she flies off on her Broom.

liza rosie,

I said the same thing to you about voting being fixed NEXT TIME and you gave me shit and said it needed to fixed now. Why? Because you wanted to ensure that Doug won. Now that he has, you are more than fine with fixing voting for next time and you don’t give a shit now about the 125,000 who could vote.

It’s so easy to see your true agenda.

Bob Rock also servicing the debt is around 10 billion a year. After Ralph paid off our debt we had money for new hospital beds and MRI’s and infrastructure.
commented 2018-03-13 01:13:52 -0400
Bob Rock there is more than that to be saved in health care. Germany has ONE management level health care position for every FIVE that Canada has. And public service is horribly run an inefficient.

Drew Wakariuk,

Great – where are you going to cut spending to make up a billion+ dollars each year.

Bob Rock cutting spending means you do not have to pay for stuff with the Carbon Tax. You sure seem to forget that the left and sometimes the right take more, then spend more ,then take more, then spend more. Wynne has raised taxes while incurring massive debt, where did that money all go?
commented 2018-03-13 00:56:24 -0400
Tom Bradly you are forgetting that the media will twist and exaggerate everything Ford says while protecting Wynne at all costs, and for some reason a Liberal can say the dumbest things and get away with it while a conservative can’t. Always remember that factor.

As Anthony Fury explained, with this voting system you don’t get a highly populated area having the most representation, but instead the people in the entire province are better represented instead of just one or two more populated areas really determining the vote. In that respect I do like this method better than the first past the post method. It is growing on me. Elliot may have garnered more heads but Fords appeal reached far past the boundaries of the 416 t.o. area. He won more seats.

In the wake of Doug Ford’s election as Ontario PC leader in a field of four candidates, a victory that the establishment, even in the Ontario PC Party, opposed, I confidently make the following predictions:

(1) Wynne and her insane cultural Marxist government, the entire liberal establishment across Canada, and the MSM will viciously throw everything at Doug between now and the Ontario provincial election.

(2) Doug Ford will win the election and become the next Premier of Ontario and drain the swamp!!!

The reason: The abused people of Ontario are fed up with Liberal lies and mismanagement of the economy. The people’s revolt is now unstoppable, and everyone knows Doug Ford is the spearpoint of that revolt.

Doug, the wind is at your back! Godspeed and we look forward to your election as the next Ontario Premier!

Well I feel that I did my part and went through the loops to get my name on the ballot . It took me several tries but I did get to vote and Ford is the guy that I put my check mark on. We need people like him to get Canada back to the way it was when I grew up.. I look over at England and I think of my Grandchildren and what their world would look like if we keep going the way we are. My dad gave his life to keep us free and a lot of us are sleepwalking right now while justinass and Wynne are letting are freedoms slip away.

Doug Ford has said in an interview with City TV today that 125,000 who were eligible to vote didn’t get the chance. He also said that he would make sure that such a thing never happened again.

Hey “Bob Rock” or “whoever”… If you have the courage of your convictions why not post under your name rather than reverting to this convoluted fantasy of:- “I am not trying to fool people. It’s humorous that you are too stupid to understand that, considering I post the exact same way with each user name that I am forced to use, since The Rebel doesn’t practice what they preach regarding free speech.”… ?
commented 2018-03-13 00:28:04 -0400
Boy you are sure milking that line aren’t you Jimmy Bob.
The party is over and the gloves are off. I think the fact that you haven’t been thrown off the minute you step back in the door makes us look stupid. I would welcome seeing the back of you . Nothing but a troll, a repetitive disturber with one song. The worst kind of bottom feeder. Good riddance.

Just knew little Bobby would deny, same as with all of his other monikers. It truly is humorous that he actually thinks he is fooling people.

Patrick Browns accusers who won’t go to the police and the CTV who reported their accusations months before the election must be kicking themselves for being such a big part of Doug Fords election as PC party leader. If its proven they did it for political reasons it should be a lesson to those who may be thinking about destroying reputations behind the shield of the me too movement and the confidentiality of sources. I hope now is the time a majority of people are seeing through the lefts eternal political mantra of “demonize, demonize, demonize” and dismiss it for the garbage it is. I guess we should hope they keep it up so that we can keep winning. C’mon Ontario! Ford Nation!

I cared about members not being given an opportunity to vote for their candidate, whoever their candidate was.

You are assuming an extension could have given Elliott the win…we will never know. I have spoken with several members who confirmed they planned to vote for Ford, and couldn’t. Other members planned to put Allen first on their ballot followed by Ford, no PIN # therefore, they were out of luck. Elliot ranked third in their mind.
commented 2018-03-12 23:16:04 -0400
And that extension could have given Elliott the win. Do you acknowledge that or did you only care about the extension to hopefully improve Doug’s chances?
commented 2018-03-12 23:11:50 -0400
Your mumbling again Bob/Vinny

Again, the electoral vote counts, a winner is determined based on it.

Thousands of people were very concerned about members in good standing not being able to participate. Three out of the four candidates did want an extension so that members could receive PIN information and cast their ballot. It was Elliot who objected to an extension.
I never said Ford decimated Elliott and my posts don’t suggest this at all.
