CBC says global warming could “wake up” Canada's “volcanoes.” They're lying — to push Trudeau's carbon tax

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The CBC says that global warming could cause volcanoes to explode.

That’s not even fake news. It's fiction.

And it’s embarrassing that anyone would publish that, but it’s extra embarrassing, and troubling, that it would be said on the state broadcaster, to whom we pay $1.5 billion a year in taxpayer money, and who so clearly are in campaign mode for Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax.

That’s really what this is about: Support Trudeau’s carbon tax, or the volcanoes will hurt you.

It was obviously prompted by the spectacular news out of Hawaii that one of their volcanoes is oozing lava again.

But Canada hasn't had had volcanoes for tens of millions of years.

There are a few little “cones” in uninhabited places in the mountains near the B.C. coast, where some small amounts of cinders and ash have percolated out of the earth. Some of them even had baby eruptions — a few centuries ago.

TONIGHT I'll compare the science about volcanoes with the CBC's ridiculous "news" story.

But it goes without saying:

Volcanoes have nothing to do with anything humans are doing on the surface of the earth.

No, the CBC's story is more akin to superstition than science. The ancient Aztecs tried to appease the "volcano god." Muslim clerics declared that the devastating eruption of Krakatoa was "the work of Allah." (PS: Here's the book I recommended — Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded.)

What's the difference between that and the CBC's global warming superstitions?

The CBC report lies about one "unstable volcano" — meaning a mountain, Mount Meager, in BC, that had... a rock slide. Eight years ago. In the middle of nowhere.

It's pitiful.

And it will surely guarantee that the CBC gets its $1.5 billion next year from Trudeau.

Can you trust a single word the CBC state broadcaster says, about anything?

NEXT: Candice Malcolm of the Truth North Initiative joins me to talk about her latest column in the Sun. She warns that Ontario will be declared a "sanctuary province" if the NDP wins the election.

THEN: Speaking of which, David Menzies comes on to update us on Ontario election developments.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

Good for you Ms. Stephenson – “Case in point, take a look at the recent story about the hypothesis that higher molluscs like octopus are extraterrestrial in origin.”… Not only did I have the best laugh of the day but I’m going to be smiling all this weekend…. And so – logically – I believe dem dere “higher molluscs” are the ones driving those UFOs they’ve reported recently…

Getting called, how? A hypothesis is scientific speculation. Nothing more, nothing less. You can offer alternative hypotheses (which in this case might be the null, that the two are unrelated) but then your task is to provide supporting evidence for your own hypothesis. And, you can’t.

Just because you don’t like an idea, doesn’t make it wrong. You actually have to empirically show it is.

Case in point, take a look at the recent story about the hypothesis that higher molluscs like octopus are extraterrestrial in origin. Very far out there, but not a “lie” or “bs”. The counter-argument is not to start yelling about IPCC scams or Big Mollusc, but to point to empirical data suggesting otherwise – such as the simple fact that their biochemistry is completely unremarkable. looking like a conventional metazoan even in processes that vary among terrestrial life, an observation that places it firmly in our own phylogeny.

Where’s the empirical data showing that climate doesn’t influence geological activity? There is none. It’s not an incorrect hypothesis since it can’t be disproven. It’s not entirely baseless either – surface water is well known to be a lubricant and flux that enhances volcanism, and isostatic effects from melting ice (in essence, cracking/weakening of bedrock as melting ice causes mountain crust to “float” higher), could very well also enhance local volcanism.

Well thank you for that Ms. Stephenson – to wit – “Climate change causing volcanic eruptions? Can’t really support it with existing data – and they admit that – but you can’t really refute it either. Without proof it’s wrong, it’s not a “lie”.”… But you have to be awfully naive that “students” trying to link climate change and volcanos re-activating is not yet another attempt – a la Al Gore – to see how much B.S. you can get away with without being called on it… Don’t play me for a sucker, I used to be the environmental beat reporter for the St. Catharines Standard in the 70s; the first daily in Canada to have one as a regular beat…

I love that “Stephenson Logic” popping up again…. “Speculation, even if far-fetched, isn’t lying.”…. OK, so I’m speculating that the far side of Moon is actually one big UFO factory manned by little green men who are promoting the theory of “global warming” here on Earth… Fair enough?…. I’m going to tuck away that little homily Ms. Stephenson because it’s going to come back to bite you sooner than later… "

You could certainly hypothesize that – a hypothesis is merely a possible explanation for a phenomenon, or an attempt to explain what could be happening. The hard work is proving or disproving it, and you need substantial evidence to do either. . The evidence is pretty strongly against it, but a poorly supported hypothesis is just that, poorly supported. It’s not a lie, per se.

Climate change causing volcanic eruptions? Can’t really support it with existing data – and they admit that – but you can’t really refute it either. Without proof it’s wrong, it’s not a “lie”.

Yep, those Dippers are just so squeaky-clean.The Toronto Sun reports that Etobicoke Centre candidate, Erica Kelly posted that she would not be sad if “gun nuts” were blown up by a drone. Nope, no extremists in the NDP, no-siree.

The Toronto Sun has the video of the Tories announcing that Tasleem Riaz regards Canadian troops in Afghanistan as war criminals. It seems her Hitler meme has been posted by her for years and she has refused to take it down. Sounds like the rank and file Dippers in Ontario aren’t any better than their Alberta cousins.

Andrea is standing by Diaz….big mistake……huge.
commented 2018-05-25 13:31:04 -0400
The NDP are hardly squeaky clean. Apart from poppy-gate, NDP candidate Tasleem Diaz was caught sharing a neo-Nazi meme inspirational quote from Hitler. Quite natural really, one socialist getting inspiration from another socialist. The seeds of anti-Semitism run deep with the left. We will see if loyal Liberals who vote Liberal out of habit actually actually vote NDP.

Mountains out of Mole Hills about to blow, Trudeau is good at the latter, if nothing else.

Too bad you didn’t actually watch the report or research the big lie CBC pushed. Nice try though.
commented 2018-05-25 10:39:07 -0400
The CBC"s comments are mostly about mudslides, not volcanic activity. Melting glaciers destabilize mountains for the same reason the ground turns mushy during the spring thaw, and water does indeed lower the melting point of magma. You might argue the CBC piece is speculation, but it’s not a lie by any measure. A “lie” has to be definably wrong, and the volcano piece is neither empirically nor conceptually wrong. Speculation, even if far-fetched, isn’t lying.

Re:: polling. This is an interesting one, and fairly easy to explain. When the left wing situation looked hopeless, the poll results reflected this. With the NDP competitive and/or leading, suddenly the strategic vote can crystallize. Time for change and don’t like Ford? Now you have an option. Ontario’s 2/3 left wing, and with Wynne so hated, its’ the perfect storm for the NDP. They’re also squeaky-clean – Warmington’s obsession with the poppy incident only matters to people that would never support the NDP in a million years anyway. For everyone else, not wearing a poppy is trivial relative to say, ballot stuffing. Horwath miscalculated her platform cost, but owned up to it and is fixing it. The PCs…. don’t have a platform to flaunt and show off their own impeccable calculations (whether they just didn’t bother, or are stalling since their own math doesn’t work, isn’t clear). Oops.

Here’s the deal: the Millennials matter, and they’re very hard to sample. Today’s Forum poll does a decent job of it – 18-34s (mostlu Mill, some Z) are still outnumbered 2:1 by 65+ but they got a decent sample of the Mills. The Under-45s support the NDP over the PCs by more than 2:1. How much they turnout really matters, and that’s where the hopefulness vs hopelessness matters. The Millennials determined the 2015 election. The younger voters are deeply left-wing, and the older ones are pretty much 50-50 left vs right, but Wynne’s so hated that the left wing vote isn’t being split anymore.

“I think the Ontario “Orange Wave” is a figment of the fevered imagination of the left wing media who are in denial about what is happening to the Wicked Witch of the East. Ontario just threw a bucket of water on her and she is melting.”

It is.
Rational intelligent people will not vote for Horwath and her merry Marxist band:

“… NDP candidate Laura Kaminker, a self-described “Marxist” running in Mississauga Centre, said in a 2014 blog post she refuses to wear the “fake poppy” and described Remembrance Day as “war glorification.” … She also criticized sports teams who honour our armed forces at games and she appears to be a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, suggesting there’s “no proof that bin Laden or Al Qaeda had anything to do with the attacks.”“All of you fixating on this one event, the whole world expected to stand in hushed silence because a bad thing happened to Americans,” she wrote while objecting to the commemoration of the attack. … Shamefully, NDP leader Andrea Horwath dismissed Kaminker’s repugnant views by saying “many people have many diverse opinions and we value free speech.”… So far, she hasn’t apologized for her posts. Neither has Horwath. "

I hope Horvath keeps talking about making Ontario a sanctuary province. I think the people of Ontario have seen how things have worked out for migrant sanctuaries and I don’t think they support the concept as strongly as they once did. So please Andrea, keep chirping! The great thing about lefties is they just can’t help themselves.
Canadian Press headline: “Snow fell in Newfoundland Thursday, burying cars and closing schools”. Yes Jr. climate change is real, it is getting colder. Maybe CTV news and the CBC should start publishing studies from obscure scientists predicting that polar bears will soon be moving south and could be haunting the cafes of Yorkville in as few as twenty years.

I didn’t think Ford would allow himself to be corralled by the PC Ontario Party numskulls that have run horrible campaigns and lost us successive elections.
This election should be about big issues.Big unaffordable hydro bills.Big numbers at the gas pump. Big loss of our manufacturing base. Big taxes and massive debt that could be raised to an unimaginable amount with an NDP win.
And Ford to my knowledge isn’t taking about the disasters NDP governments and Socialist Liberal policies are doing in Alberta and throughout Canada.
It’s a total mess .Blame the media? We have no control over the media but we have control over our own campaigns and at this point it looks really grim for Ontarians .

They really are smoking to much Trudeau generation “pakalolo” at the CBC these days to even hint at such a linkage… What!.. The new eruptions on the Big Island in Hawaii are due to climate change?… Unfortunately the goddess Pele has been venting fire and destruction for some 40 million years now – that’s how the Hawaiian Islands rose from the Pacific sea bed in the first place!… As for Mt. Meager, it has been “burping” off and on for hundreds of years, hence the popular hot springs there… An interesting sidebar is that the eco-crazies in B.C., have over the past decades, suggested that the hot springs be used as the source to heat Vancouver some 100 miles due south!… So no more hydro dams, just pipe all that steam south… There really is to much “pakalolo logic” prevelant these days whether in Ottawa or at the CBC or in British Columbia these days.. And it’s only going to get worse as marajuini toking gets legal… Just ask the Colorado Highway Patrol…

HOWEVER, anyone who thinks man is in any way gonna awake these mountains of ash & rock – well, I think they should be seeking mental health care.
As for TruDope / Soros / Butts’ illegal human trafficking need to be held accountable under Law – believe it or not – TruDope & your Gang of lunatic Lieberals are NOT above the law as they act.
