Andrew Stephenson said, “Freedom of religion does not mean you can force school children to say the Lord’s Prayer.”

In what school(s) in Canada is the Lord’s prayer forced upon children?

That’s something Ron.

I know this guy that has voted Liberal for 30 years; you can’t even talk to him about any other Party.
He told me today that he is going to follow Bernier, as he is the only Conservative that says the Conservative Party isn’t Conservative enough.
True Story.

“Interesting how the Liberals claim religious diversity yet ban Christianity.”
Yes Hyacinth, and in a Christian based/founded country. To not acknowledge and respect that fact, is not only unacceptable, its anti -Canadian. We shouldn’t put up such disrespect.

Canada started as a Christian nation but over the decades we were witness to the systematic banning of Christianity across Canada. But this does not come as a complete surprise as Pierre Trudeau was a confirmed communist before he crossed the floor and joined the Liberal Party as he believed the NDP would never win. Marx stated that “religion is the opium of the people” he rejected religion, he viewed religion as a way that the ruling classes gave false hope to the working classes. Lenin saw religion as a negative to human development. Communism, like all statism, is essentially a religion of pagan theocracy, claiming a corporate abstract entity in the state which collectively rules over the people (the State is the “Savior”).

Interesting how the Liberals claim religious diversity yet ban Christianity.

Freedom of religion means you practise your own religion on your own time. You can’t force it on other people. Freedom of religion means I can attend school without having Jesus shoved down my throat.

The troll is spamming yet again, first it claims there is freedom of speech now it claims there is no such thing under its different moniker.
Pure and simple spam.

LIZA ROSIE, HYACINTH, Help me, please. The motley Troll has dumped on me!
What is it, in my comment that relates to religion?

“The troll is wrong again. "

Freedom of religion does not mean you can force school children to say the Lord’s Prayer. In fact, that’s forced religion, not free at all.

" Max would be the only one up for adopting that kind of policy since the majority of followers of Islam refuse to assimilate or integrate into our Canadian society, which is a direct result of what Max calls “extreme multiculturalism.” "

Bernier is on record as saying he supports complete freedom and equality of religion, including, specifically, that of Muslims.

Islam would have to be demoted to cult status from religious status. If it isn’t, any slight towards it could be deemed a violation of freedom of religion, and Muslims in Canada would have every right according to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to enact lawsuits on those who would attempt to remove it. Cults however, are not considered religions. Therefore any move towards banning Islam and things like the Burka, the Niqab or the Koran would have to be done only after it reached cult status and then it could be easily removed from our Western democracy. Max would be the only one up for adopting that kind of policy since the majority of followers of Islam refuse to assimilate or integrate into our Canadian society, which is a direct result of what Max calls “extreme multiculturalism.”

“Keith, there’s a little thing called “Freedom of Religion” in Canada. ….”

The troll is wrong again.

Canadian History:
“Most of our Canadian colleges and universities were founded by Christians or had Christian principles. King’s College in Nova Scotia, now known as Dalhousie University, was founded by the Anglicans, and McMaster University by the Baptists, just to name a few. Our education system has a Christian basis. Egerton Ryerson was a Methodist circuit rider whose main aim was to “preach Jesus to the lost sons of men.” In 1844 he was appointed the superintendent of education for Canada West (Ontario). He stated that “youth should be furnished with right principles, as well as with right knowledge … the first requisite is the religious and moral knowledge of right and wrong; the next is an acquaintance with the history of mankind.” Ryerson is called the father of Canadian public education and made education accessible for everyone. The students used textbooks in which Christian values and loyalty to the constitution were included. The Ontario school system, a “Christian public school system”, became the model for most of Canada.

But now:

Three years later, in September 1988, they won a decision against the Sudbury school board which had the Lord’s Prayer removed from all Ontario public schools
“But now, “In a pair of 7-2 rulings, the majority of justices found the law societies of British Columbia and Ontario have the power to refuse accreditation based on Trinity Western University’s so-called community covenant.””

Ezra, you are being way to kind to Smilin’ Andy.
commented 2018-08-24 15:22:26 -0400
Amy that doesn’t include the freedom to threaten or oppress people. A theocracy is what Islam is. A system which is a threat to Canadian values and what our society has deemed acceptable human rights treatment. No group should be able to hide under the ‘religion’ umbrella if it wants to include such barbarism in our civilized modern society. We should call it out and have no place for it. Having said that, I recognize that we do not ban people, but we should be able to take away support or recognition for ideologies when they threaten the structure of our sovereign country and values.

Keith, there’s a little thing called “Freedom of Religion” in Canada. If you’re not fan simply head south to despotic Argentina.

Andrew Scheer had failed to reach out to Maxime Bernier and unite the CPC, leading to a crisis that will cost the CPC the next election if not corrected. He has thus failed as CPC leader and must either resigon or be replaced as leader.

commented 2018-08-24 14:05:39 -0400
It’s over for you Andy, one or the way or the other, do the right thing and resign.

Bernier, with some like minded friends, needs to start a new political party and he needs to do this ‘Post Haste’.

Running on the the agenda of; ‘LEAVE THE UN AND RID CANADA OF ALL MUSLIMS’. Nothing else, what you see is what you get.

Yes, of course he would manage Canada just as any Conservative would but he needs to ride the crest of the wave on something that all normal Canadians want.

This would attract people of all political stripes and he would also have the vote of ‘us’ Rebels.

I am sure the Rebel would help with Crowd Funding and publicity etc.
