FACTCHECK: Bette Midler blames Black Friday violence on — low minimum wage

Amanda HeadRebel Contributor

Actress and singer Bette Midler “celebrated” Thanksgiving with this lovely, heartwarming tweet:

And how was YOUR Black Friday? No injuries, I hope! It's incredible that we have to fight over STUFF. If there were a DECENT minimum wage, or if workers were treated fairly, and got a tiny portion of the kinds of salaries and bonuses CEOS pay themselves, we wouldn't.

But if the minimum wage was the cause of this annual mayhem, wouldn’t it also happen… the other 364 days per year?

Unlike the Divine Miss M, I looked at what social scientists who’ve studied Black Friday shopping violence have to say. And you’ll never guess: They don’t blame the minimum wage.

Did you know that sleep deprivation plays a big role? There’s more, as I’ll show you in my video report.

But here’s the bottom line:

Why does Hollywood feel they should drive policy in this country, especially when it pertains to wages? A multi-millionaire waxing political on Twitter about “fairness" doesn’t impress the average middle American.

Gee, isn’t it nice that Hollywood multimillionaires care so much about us peasants,so much that it costs over $100 to see many of them in concert, and their movies are an exercise in propaganda on screen and robbery in the theater lobby as you pay huge bucks for crappy food and drinks.
I have no sympathy with anyone who acts like a pre-programmed sheep and goes out to battle on black Friday ( when will the retail industry wise up to the racism of that name?) for junk they don’t need and will probably be on sale another time or on the internet every day, if they can’t live without it.
Most of the people Middler is so concerned about are poor because they have that mindset, I worked with enough of ’em to understand that. Pay them $50 an hour and at the end of the year most would have lots of toys and fancy clothing, and not one red cent in savings.
Stfu about social issues,Bette, and stick to caterwauling to earn your millions.

I didn’t realize poor Bette had to fight over “stuff”.

Lets make meddlesomeBette Midler a singer in a gay bathhouse again! Back to her singing roots! Then we will see how she feels about life – especially after she gives her mansion and $230 million to the poor.

How long will $230 million help her friends on the south side of the US southern border? I guess she will never put her money where her mouth resides.

I wonder if she also believes – as the youngest member of the US Congress – that unemployment is down because people have more than one job? As a brain trust she fails.
