What Quebec mosque attack means for free speech

Faith GoldyArchive

Is the CBC doing the Liberal government's bidding? I break down how their coverage of the Quebec mosque attack hints at a larger campaign to ready Canadians for a limitation to their most sacred right to free speech.

Then MP Garnett Genius joins me to talk about his formal complaint to the CBC Ombudsman about one of our state broadcaster's most cringeworthy recent pieces!

Plus: We've got your weekly top headline and Quote of Honour!

Donald Allan said, "My choice is to cocoon them [the trolls that “occupy this space”] totally. I ignore their posts."
Ron Voss (or “Ross” as I have called him – sorry Ron) said, “Stop feeding the troll, the “useful idiot” gets great satisfaction from all the attention you give to his inane comments.”

I agree and disagree with both of you. How’s that for a definitive response?

I hate the fact that responding to them is often feeding their need for attention. But I respond to them for any combination of three reasons:

1) Its’ post annoys me so much I have to respond with some acerbic comment. It’s a weakness. I am working on it.

2) The comment needs some response because of its’ usual factually inaccuracy and it seems the troll might actually want a debate. I am almost always disappointed in that regards. Few can actually debate or even want to do more than a drive-by insult.

3) Let’s face it, Rebel supporters, it can become an echo chamber in here. Booooorrrrring! Sure, I read the comments and they are interesting, but for the most part it becomes the same old as for the most part we agree one with another. A troll adds a change and a modicum of interest … except for Jay Kelly who I swear is bipolar or has multiple personalities. Old Jimmy Da Silva from a long time ago did have that one thing correct, it is an echo chamber in here sometimes.

DONALD ALLAN commented, “My choice is to cocoon them totally. I ignore their posts. Unfortunately some are responding to these drones which I think diminishes the overall effectiveness of this site.”
I agree that “responding to these drones… diminishes the overall effectiveness of this site”. I refer to these socialist trolls as “useful idiots”, which they are, who take great pleasure out of those who deem to respond to, as you say, “their moronic and juvenile posts” and thereby accomplish their purpose.

Yes Robert McClelland ,you make a great point. Make no mistake that M-103 establishes Sharia in Canada and I don’t think President Trump is going to like having an obviously Pro-Palestine Pro-Hamas Pro- Muslim Brotherhood border country.
I would be surprised if President Trump isn’t cordial in public to Trudeau, but in behind the scenes I don’t think there will be any love lost from either direction.

In my view, Faith heaped far too much praise on Mr. Genius who waffled when asked as to what he would do about Motion M-103. When I had contacted his constituency office pressing him about M-103, I was essentially brushed off because he is not my MP. I have received no response back to my final communication (Feb. 2), “I would appreciate knowing when this motion M-103 comes up if Mr. Genuis will support it or oppose it?” According to Wikipedia, Mr. Genius is a Roman Catholic. Again, I ask, does Mr. Genius believe, like Jason Kenney, another Roman Catholic and former Immigration Minister in the Harper government, that Muslims and Roman Catholics worship the same God?

So, lets say The Donald comes to Canada and starts talking about radical Islamic terrorism, is Junior going to arrest him? This I gotta see.

M-103 is capitulation , the surrender to the Global Jihad. Jihad is the expansion of Islam by implementing Sharia. The Islamic Liberal party are the political Jihad who are using a contrived exigency in the mosque killings to advance Sharia.
What an insult to traditional Canadians that we are all painted with the same stripe as an apparently whacko killer whose motivations are unpublished and dubious at best.

How effective is such a ban on free speech going to be when just across the border Americans will be speaking freely? What will be the cost to the Liberals and Tories who back such a thing contrary to the will of the majority of Canadians?

Peter Netterville,

If I was personally calling Faith a liar, then I could see your point, but I clearly indicated that there was a report from Canadaland’s Jesse Brown – a report you refuse to listen to and which could save you the time in writing your bullshit to me if you were in fact informed.

It’s obvious that you are just trying to deflect and actually don’t want Faith or The Rebel to look bad in any way through presented facts, so better to not listen at all as ignorance is bliss for you.

Canadaland is very reputable – surprisingly even Ezra Levant has said so and even used Canadaland as a source himself, but the fact that you are unwilling to listen to the information that HE has come up with as a media watchdog tells me everything I want to know about you. You are part of the alternative facts crowd.

Mark Levin refers to them as drones. Socialist trolls who spew out the same old phrases and words and party lines with little depth of thought or wisdom behind them. A few occupy this space which is their prerogative. However, each of us has complete autonomy over what we read and how we react to what we read.
My action or reaction is to totally ignore the posts or comments of certain individuals who really have nothing to say other than to recapitulate the garbage from CBC or other leftist outfits. My choice is to cocoon them totally. I ignore their posts.
Unfortunately some are responding to these drones which I think diminishes the overall effectiveness of this site. Just my opinion. I don’t have the time to argue with fools and to be honest I don’t have time to read the banter that is initiated in response to their moronic and juvenile posts.

He was born a Muslim in Sudan, and calls himself a Muslim in this podcast, but is talking about how he was not really religious. He is married to a non Muslim woman. He says he is learning to revisit what it means to be Muslim. So he is a moderate I guess, but he calls himself a Muslim.
commented 2017-02-10 02:38:17 -0500
Well Ron, for a Roman Catholic he sure talks about Islam alot online. I wonder what drew him to the Roman Catholic church and when he became Catholic. I may have been incorrect in assuming he was Muslim, but I’m not incorrect about his arrogance. What kind of Canadian doesn’t understand or respect the value of free speech.

Wendy Mesley wants to know where ‘this information’ as she puts it, is coming from? Has it ever occurred to her that it just might be coming from the writings of the Koran (which I have no doubt she has never read, because she was told by Muslim’s like her guest there, that if you don’t speak Arabic you can’t possibly understand).

Contrary to what Wendy thinks, most people who are conservatives in this country do their own homework, and don’t rely on what she calls ‘fake news’ or sound bites for their information. We aren’t blind. We see what is happening in Europe. We know that as the demographic becomes more tipped, the problems Islam brings with it will be coming our way. Not to mention the unappreciated accommodation that we already have given. Tensions may rise, and if they do, it will have more to do with Justin’s policies, the cbc’s race baiting and the inbred attitude of supremacy that Muslims are told in the Koran they have a right to, regardless of what country they cohabit. Elamin Abdelmahmoud who came to Canada as a grade 8 student from Sudan has shamelessly demonstrated this, in the cbc piece. I missed that he was with Buzzfeed, does the cbc consider Buzzfeed a legit source of info, well why am I not surprised. lol.
I am not interested in sharing my country with anyone who does not respect the right to free speech.

Gonna be funny when Jesse Brown is silenced by the people Faith is trying to expose.

LMAO! Now read why Jesse Brown is horrible and get back to me. It works both ways.

In the interview, Mr. Genius asserted that he was a Christian. I just checked Wikipedia which indicates that he is Roman Catholic. I wonder if he, like Jason Kenney, another Roman Catholic and former Immigration Minister in the Harper government, believes that Muslims and Roman Catholics worship the same God?

The black guy says he is one of those people who never believed that freedom of expression was absolute in the first place? Seriously?? By his name I assume he is Muslim because if he weren’t I don’t believe he would know better. I’ve got news for him, we are kind of used to our free speech in Canada and I am unspeakably offended by this man’s comments, and on the national broadcaster no less. What an insult to Canadians. He talks about hate speech while accusing people with a broad brush of being nazi’s.

If he is a commentator at the cbc ( I wouldn’t know, I never watch their propaganda news, I just pay for it with my tax dollars) he should be fired. Maybe he should be taken to the Human rights kangaroo courts for his slander and insults.
Canadians have been accommodating to a fault to Muslims coming here and this is the abuse Canadians get for opening our doors. Or rather I should say, this is just an example of some of the abuse Canadians have to suffer daily at the hands of ungrateful people who are here because they were granted entry or their parents were granted entry.

I’ve dealt with the CBC ombudsman on a few occasions. A waste of time!
Faith Mr. Genius didn’t deserve such praise. I heard a lot of waffling from him re Motion M-193. “We” are trying to figure it out?? Waiting for Rona Ambrose to give the marching orders?
Again, I have asked for this on several occasions. An investigation into what happened to cause the Cobservative bench to make an about face, first opposing the anti-Islamophobia motion coming out of e-411 in early October and then obligingly being part of the unanimous chorus on October 26, which paved the way for the introduction of Motion M-103. Most troubling was the declaration in the Octiber 26th motion that the terrorist attacks that occur virtually every day around the world have nothing to do with Islam!

Hey Jack Carter. Canadalands “report” is peppered with ads for casper matresses and the 2nd city improve class. Impressive supporters of the news cast. Questioning Faith for following up on REAL leads is kinda lefty because it doesn’t serve you view.
Justin admitted he knows the difference between terrorism and a “single crazy” will you not admit that 99.0 % of mass killings are Islamic thinking individuals? Or are you determined like the CBC to attribute mass murder to Christian White males? Think carefully before you respond. Your reputation may be at stake.

JIM NORWOOD ;

The link you posted, a very interesting article.

I think it is time for President Trump to have a little talk with Jihadi Justin, like telling him the facts of life.

So, Jack Carter listens to someone’s video that accuses Faith of lying, and because Jack already loathes The Rebel he says to himself, “YES! Just what I was looking for!”

So, then Jack gleefully races to pull up a browser window and shaking with joy so much that he can barely type. He could not wait to loudly bellow to all on The Rebel how Faith is a liar and he can prove it to all! Just go to this link and it will all be explained to you.

Poor Jack, not realizing that he has not actually thought for himself, but just had his political hate feed to him in a video condemning Faith and his hated website, The Rebel, that he has been duped yet again. He never will realize just how foolish he really is.

Poooooor Jack.
commented 2017-02-09 23:55:57 -0500
Okay Jack, let’s see if you can grasp this.

I want YOU to do the research yourself and find where Faith lied. Link to that video.

You are the one who accused Faith of lying. Don’t point me to some other video where someone says that Faith has lie. I don’t give a damn what someone else has said about Faith. I am challenging you.

So, Jack, think for yourself. Do your own research. Then post it and prove top me that Faith lied … in your own words … using your own research.

So, Jack, what part of what I just typed can you not grasp?

Peter Netterville,

What part of listen to the report and THEN get back to me is so hard for you to understand. Maybe if you were actually informed, you would feel that there is actually no need for a debate. But if you are going to constantly dodge and deflect, then it’s obvious you want to remain ignorant.

So listen and then we can debate if you still feel the need. Pretty simple.
