Why “Canada’s economy is screwed” in the age of Trump (GUEST: Lauren Southern)

Faith GoldyArchive

I love being Canadian. But every now and then, our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, does something that, frankly, makes me just a little bit embarrassed to be Canadian.

Well, Trudeau’s done it again. He and the Canadian ambassador to Washington, David MacNaughton, issued a video statement to the US Congress that was nothing short of cringeworthy.

Targeting Trump, the two Canadian chaps stressed the closeness of our two nations in a video that begs to be parodied.

It’s a lame attempt to fix a real problem. Trudeau and Trump could not possibly have more divergent economic plans for their respective nations’ futures. And those differences spell a certain conclusion:

The Canadian economy is screwed.

NEXT: The Rebel’s Lauren Southern joins me to talk about Megyn Kelly’s move from Fox News to NBC.

Megyn Kelly’s career will simply fade away. NBC has lost all credibility, and is hanging on by it’s fingernails. They need some fast infusion of viewers and the ability to keep them. That will not happen with Megyn Kelly, and she soon be the weather girl at a local station in Podunk, very soon.

@ Harpo the Clown, “My hydro bill has not been outrageous and I am proud of the fact the Ontario is no longer burning coal.”

Champagne socialist.

Harpo the clown Harris had nothing to do with the cost of the liberals green insanity. And the left is closer to the saudis than Harper ever was.

Good one FAITH
You can bet that the Liberal crony capitalists that supported small potatoes , are having " little meetings " with out gerrels butt involved since the election of the TRUMPSTER
You may one day be reporting on the announcement from the Incdooge imam pm that they are postponing or cutting back of some of their job killing regulations including the carbon dioxide tax

Canada’s economy & society both are screwed.

Having people like Kelly – who know conservatism – at NBC may change the way the mainstream media operates. It could lead to a more unbiased approach at the networks. We’ve complained about the lefty bias of the media for years. It’s a good thing.

Faith is right about Megan Kelly. I prefer conservative journalists to challenge, rather than cheerlead.

Ha, simply too funny!! “Harpo the clown” – dusting off of the old aliases again, no imagination, same old themed shite posted as well LOL. What about that Mickey Moussolini alias that was ever so busy (posted almost nonstop on the Toronto Sun until they disallowed blogging), going to dust that old one off too? LOL thanks for the morning laugh.

I would love for Trump to meet Brad Wall and ignore Trudeau.

Drew – Again we agree on something. The whole Western world should turn its back on Saudi Arabia but they had such close ties with the Bush and Harper governments that this never happened. Cons and Repubs love money to much to really straighten out that part of the world. Please give an example of an NDP run province turning to shit. I have to no left wing media masters. This is another common myth of right wingers. 89% of Canadian press supported Harper. You remember the day every newspaper in Canada had the yellow “vote for Harper” cover. The majority of the CBC board are Harper appointed. If the tar sands are cost effective why is Alberta having such a hard time with the low price of oil. My hydro bill has not been outrageous and I am proud of the fact the Ontario is no longer burning coal. Hydro would be much better in Ontario if Mike Harris had not sold power generation at Niagara Falls to his cronies.

Harpo when liberals and NDP run provinces they turn into shit, or does reality not apply in your world? I suppose your power bill is not Wynnes fault either? The US will get better and we will get worse, plain and simple.
commented 2017-01-06 01:42:02 -0500
Harpo funny how the price never went up that much here in Alberta. It is not the oil companies. And the oil sands are cost effective, you pay more by importing it from a human rights violating hellhole. And there is not just the oilsands in Alberta by the way, did your left wing media masters not inform you of that?
commented 2017-01-06 01:26:02 -0500
Tom Ross – I also live in Ontario and the price of gas went up 25 cents a litre during the month December BEFORE the cap and trade tax was added. I actually got gas cheaper in the new year after the tax was added. This is all just price gouging by the petro companies.
commented 2017-01-06 01:19:47 -0500
Fred Albertan – Ontario would love to have Albertan oil but the tar sands are not cost effective. Trump will not be your friend when he is fracking across America and driving to price of oil and gas even further down.

I would vote for you in a second if you ran but I wouldn’t like you to be hamstringed by the politeness of office. I think your skill is reporting and commenting on the issues. That aside, please run for the conservatives.

Fred Albertan , i live in BC and care about Alberta’s oil getting to market and most of us do , the problem is west of chilliwack is the vancouver area and over to vancouver island , that’s where all the ecco nuts and the politicians are and where the majority of the population is , they not only screw Alberta they screw the rest of BC that want resource development and pipelines ,oil , gas etc etc .

Wynn’s cap and trade has actually translated to a 20 cents/litre bump at the pump. Last month I was paying 90 cents, today it’s at 110. I live in rural Ontario, I have to travel 60 kms to get to work. My gas bill has just gone up by about $40 per week. That’s $2000 per year! Thanks Kathleen hope your gone soon.

Trudeau is screwing Canada.

Ponder that a moment!

Brace yourself for another liberal term…
“It matters not votes but only who counts the votes”
If the Liberals win again demand a recount province by province..
We may be sold another bill of goods as opposed to legitimate voting procedures and vote counting.
The left may even attribute another liberal win as “there was nobody to run against him”
If international money purchases another liberal win the only thing that’s left for the west to salvage anything in the form of freedoms and lifestyle is to separate.!!
Secede to separate should become the cry of the west.

Megyn Kelly is a hypocrite as she does not go after democrats with a similar passion. The question was intended to incite and not to illicit truth or facts and was base on comments and not action. Did Trump abuse women, no but that was not important to Kelly.

Faith Goldy, get over yourself. We want strong leaders and not feminists.

B.C. doesn’t care about Alberta oil and gas getting to market. I don’t care about B.C. softwood getting to market.
Ontario doesn’t care about Alberta, either, and prefers to buy it’s oil from Venezuela. I don’t care about Ontario manufacturing, automakers moving to the U.S.
Trump might be bad for the ROC, but he will be good for Alberta because he will focus our attention on secession….the only real alternative for an Alberta Future.

@ Bill

It is not surprising that the federal government quietly released this report since the federal government bureaucracy is mostly Liberal. I am sure they were hoping no one would notice the report.

There will be a made in Ottawa depression within Junior’s first (and last) term.

Here’s the bad news the CBC and Liberals are hiding :

“Buried government report reveals looming fiscal crisis – Two days before Christmas, when most politicians and their staffers had long left their offices for the holiday break, the finance department released — without fanfare or wide notice — a surprising update on long-term economic and fiscal projections.

The report warns that lower than expected growth combined with higher program spending “would be sufficient to put at risk the fiscal sustainability of the federal government.”

That means the current deficit spending and productivity – killing tax and regulation regime will put the government in default of its liabilities – like your pension or health care – CBC didn’t think this was worth mentioning.

- What Canada needs to do to save its economy is basically the opposite of what the Liberals are doing. Canada has the worst possible Prime Minister it could possibly have right now. The question is, how much damage has to be done before the Canadian people wake up & revolt against this idiot & his party of fools.

- Megan Kelly shot herself in the foot during the election. She’s a better fit for NBC.
