Good News: Federal tax cuts. Bad News: Provincial tax hikes

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

A Bank of Montreal economist reports that in 2015, we'll see $4.5B in tax cuts from the federal government.

The bad news?

Three quarters of that will be grabbed by provincial governments as they hike their taxes, including Alberta with more than 50 new tax hikes.

I wonder who will take the blame for that.

@ Valerie Clark. You mean his drinking habits? Ralph Klien was conservative. He was no Liberal.

Weird, when I clicked on my highlighted red name in Peter N.‘s post I get a person another Liza with a twitter account, who lives in Massachusetts. I don’t have a twitter account or live in Massachusetts. It ain’t me, so don’t harass her. Dumb.

The Liberals will spin anything to their political advantage if they possibly can. If they can blame the Harper government for their tax hikes, of course they will do that. (When I say Liberals I’m include the Alberta PC Party as it now stands, unfortunately). The Liberals seem to be the only Party without a moral center. The NDP and the Greens take a stand for what they believe in, although it’s a very strange and incoherent concept of what’s right and wrong. But at least they remain true to their core beliefs. The only consistent ideological position of the Liberals is that they should be in power, and they’ll embrace any cause, support any organization, affirm any ideology, spin any facts that they believe will help them regain that power. It wasn’t always like that. At one time they were a true Centrist Party. But that changed with Trudeau senior, and their moral compass has slowly eroded since, until under Justin Trudeau (Whyne, Prentice, Clark) they have completely lost their moral center.

According to the next story, the Alberta Conservatives and the Wildrose are neck-and-neck… does that give Prentice any hints?

Wildrose better take over so we don’t get 50+ tax hikes. Or I’m leaving Alberta. Smarten up Alberta.

What about the municipalities? Will they be gobbling up the remaining 25% of the tax cut?

those marks are the shadows of the two microphones in front of Harper…if anyone is really interested.

In the long run, it is harder for big spending politicians to hide at the local/provincial level. So – it’s a good story.
If Brad Wall is ever placed on waivers, Alberta has first dibs.

@liza – I cannot count how many times I wished for a cabinet trade with Saskatchewan. It would be good to have Brad as the Premiere, but then I would not want to subject these socialists-in-PC clothing on anyone, especially the good people of Saskatchewan.

We all know that the federal Conservatives will be blamed for the tax hikes. The unscrupulous Lieberals, the NoDarnPrinciples party, and anti-Harper unions will see to that. I wish so much that these liars could be charged for their lies.

As for the Alberta socialists-in-Progressive Conservative clothing, I how the big booted in the butt so hard out of office next election that they will not be able to sit again for a few terms.

Liza – The Liberals have been masquerading as Conservatives since the days of Ralph Klein, also a Liberal. Allison Redford was the epitome of a Liberal: spend taxpayers’ money on personal expenses while spitting in their faces. She never even pretended to be a conservative. Neither does Prentice.

. . . . or is that what you meant already?

The one one the left looks to me, as Greig says, like the shadow of a microphone, but the filthy stain to the right looks like K. Wynne.

Joan, it looks to me like shadows from the microphones on the PM’s suit.

In one pocket and out the other! One giveth and one taketh!

What’s with what look like two large stains on either side of the chest of Harper’s suit?
