FEED OUR TROOPS: Help raise $10,000 to give to the Christmas Hamper for soldiers at CFB Borden

Ezra LevantRebel Commander
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: Cheque delivered to veterans charity Grow Calgary

December 20, 2018: That old saying, “better late than never” comes to mind in the Rebel’s year-long quest to find a military charity that would gratefully receive the generous donations of Rebel viewers. Watch as David shares a gratifying “mission accomplished” cheque drop off to a veterans-focused charity, “Grow Calgary.”

UPDATE: Bureaucrats “fret” over Rebel’s charitable donation to military families

December 3, 2018: Around this time last year, Rebel’s crowdfunded donations to military families in need was rejected by CFB Borden. We suspected political interference and now we have the freedom of information documents to prove it. Watch as I share some of what we found in the over 100 documents we received.

UPDATE: Another charity accepts than rejects our donation for "mysterious" reasons

April 4, 2018: After CFB Borden refused to accept funds Rebel viewers raised to support military families, we tried to deliver the funds to Canada Company but were rejected again. Why? Watch as David explains what he thinks is behind the rejected donation and what we plan to do about it. Sign the petition! http://www.CallOffYourDogs.com

Do you know how badly Justin Trudeau is treating our Canadian Armed Forces?

A story was published in an official publication of the Canadian Forces Base in Borden, Ontario. The story is called "Seasonal Sharing Basket Campaign”.

Here's the first sentence:

It is once again that time of year with the colder temperatures and the kids back in school, the base will be kicking off this year’s Seasonal Sharing Basket (SSB) Campaign for 2017.

That sounds great — our soldiers give so much to us, and now they’re even giving to Christmas hampers for the poor. Amazing. But read the next sentence:

The goal of the SSB campaign is to assist those members of the CFB Borden Defence Team, residing within the confines of CFB Borden and local area, who are experiencing a time of need during the holiday season. The privacy and confidentiality of individuals utilizing the support provided by the SSB will be respected. Individuals in need of support and interested in further details can speak with their unit Padre.

So this isn’t to help some strangers down at the homeless shelter. This is to help CFB soldiers who are so poor, they literally can’t afford to feed their families.

Justin Trudeau pays our soldiers so little that they are forced to ask for charity.

Trudeau just gave $10.5 million dollars to Omar Khadr, a convicted Al Qaida terrorist, who murdered a soldier. But Trudeau won’t even pay our troops enough to feed their families. Trudeau has social programs to help ISIS terrorists coming back to Canada — with art, and poetry — Trudeau’s got millions for Islamic terrorists, but not enough for our troops to feed their families.

So we want to raise $10,000  for the CFB Borden food hamper. Please donate here

Justin Trudeau hates our troops. He’s pushing them into poverty, while making terrorists into millionaires.

But let’s you and me do the right thing — let’s give to the Christmas Hamper for soldiers at CFB Borden.

Andy –
It’s not so much that your friend George is incorrect in his argument about military pay, it was more about how he chose enter the conversation in full attack mode whilst making his point.

The Rebel is partisan by nature, and has fought many good battles. However, occasionally, they may veer off course, even if the intent is good. This is one of those cases. Both you and George should have been aware that his approach would receive push back, just the same as if I were to go on the Huffington Post forum and call it a ‘trash site’. George’s credible message was lost in his vitriol.

Bottom line – The Rebel did a good thing, and the funds raised will likely benefit some families in need. Let’s just hope that, going forward, the foundational arguments for a fund raising endeavor have a more credible base. I thought the Speer fundraising was brilliant and I was happy to contribute.

To the one and many disparaging my friend of 67 years, Col. George Zvanitajs (Ret.)… It’s my fault that I encouraged my friend to post on The Rebel for the first time hoping his yeas of experience would bring some clarity to the subject… As expected, some of you jumped on his insight with smartass comments rather than providing alternative data… George didn’t elaborate on his military career but during it he was the senior Canadian Forces officer in the Sinai, and the last three years of his overseas career he was Canada’s Military Attache in Beijing… Quite an honour I’d say… That “Georgie Boy” comment by NDP Sucks was also unwarranted since you don’t even have the guts to use your real name on The Rebel… So. your smartass comments, rather than reasoned arguments, have nipped this valuable source of information posting on The Rebel ever again… And no, it was not “Gerald Butts” who got him to comment, but ME… By the way, he started his military career with the Service Corps in Borden and he still lives in Barrie, so he does know the lay of the land…

Long time fan of Ezra and The Rebel, but this one made me cringe a bit. Like George, I served in the 80’s and 90’s and am a proud father of a serving member.

The issue here is not one of inadequate pay. Indeed, the pay rates our members is very reasonable. Instead, the issue is often who gets recruited. Back in the day, with rare exception, recruits were young, single men and women. By the time they married and had a family, they had been promoted to a level where their pay could comfortably support a family.

However, in today’s Canadian Forces, we often recruit members with multiple dependents and/or single parents. In that context, the pay of a Private Recruit undergoing training (and Borden is a major trades training base) is often inadequate to support a family with multiple dependents.

As much as I abhor this current Liberal regime, they are not to blame for a food bank existing at CFB Borden. I’m glad the fundraising goal was achieved, but I hope, in future, Ezra and his team ask a few more questions…..not everything that is wrong in this world is the result of Liberal incompetence. Lots is….but not everything.

Tammie

Georgie Boy works in Barrie and I believe he is an independent libtard. Here is the link to his facebook page and his consulting firm in Barrie. I believe he is in procurement and since he states that he travels through Borden and Angus he is probably getting business from CFB Borden. Just the type of libtard hypocrite to criticize the very people who provide business to him.

Karan Singh, fantastic post!
I nearly choked on my glass of wine when I read, “Don’t you think comparing salaries of a colonel from 30 years ago to a present day WO is absurd?? Of course it would make perfect sense if you were a part time colonel in Salvation Army.”

NDP Sucks, George seems to be posting for government…whoever is watching, please give Justin the finger for me!

George Zvanitajs, you “don’t trust The Rebel media anymore because of their vitriolic anti-muslim stance” OR because you can’t stand the truth about islam & mohammedanism??
Don’t you think comparing salaries of a colonel from 30 years ago to a present day WO is absurd??

Goodbye Georgie Boy. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass. BTW Georgie, your fact based discussion left out a few details such as some kind of comparative analysis on pay throughout NATO. You must be very well informed to know the pay scales of all 28 NATO countries, complete compensation and benefit packages based on their individual economies and currencies. Another thing Georgie, you seem to think you know all of the occupants of people in Borden and Angus based upon what vehicles and other items they have in their driveway. Maybe you could explain how you know these people and their income. Come on back and you tell em Georgie Boy.

Hey George, you still didn’t confirm or deny whether Gerald Butts asked you to post for the government!! If is wasn’t Gerald, maybe it was the Minister of Stolen Valour.

GEORGE ZVANITAJS – So long George! If you did serve in the Canadian military, let me sincerely thank you for your service.

I guess having a fact based discussion on Military pay levels was too much to hope for . NDP Sucks I assume you based your comments on your long and distinguished military service. Also, I did say that officers pay levels were even higher than NCM pay. I was also proud to serve my country so that you could freely make these asinine and insulting comments. First and last time for me on this childish forum.
Chers.

George Zvanitajs, after searching the Rebel site, I note your one and only comment dates back to two hours ago. Did Gerald Butts ask you to post?!!

NDP Sucks makes some great points George.

George Zvanitajs, a retired Colonel telling a Private that he is making more than enough money. You tell em George. I noticed you didn’t provide the pay scales for the officers. Little neglectful of you there George. Your sense of concern for soldiers is most admirable after giving them a good tongue lashing. Why don’t you do them a favour George and stay away from them and instead go give a muslim a hug. Best to keep your eye on him though George and watch your back.

This type of “trash” journalism, if one can even call it journalism, is one of the reasons I find it hard to trust The Rebel any more. I have already become disillusioned with their vitriolic ant-muslim stance, but turning this article about Borden residents raising a bit of money for Christmas hampers into an attack on the Government about soldiers being paid so poorly that they can not even feed their families is a gross distortion of the facts.
Canadian soldiers are among the best paid in NATO. On enlistment, a Private soldier (untrained) earns $35,820.00 a year and after completing training , in a few years, jumps to a salary of $52,584.00. On promotion to Corporal he makes $60,168.00 and tops out at $66,192.00 Sergeant’s pay is from $69,132.00 to $71,994.00 A Warrant Officer starts at $77,712.00. and can earn as much as $109,356.00 should he reach the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. This is approximately $25,000.00 more than I was making as a Colonel, when I retired, in the late 90s. Officers salaries are, of course much higher than the Non-Commissioned rank pay levels I have quoted. All these salaries reflect basic pay and can be augmented by allowances for Specialist qualifications, hardship and combat ops pay. You only have to drive around the Borden and Angus and count the number of Super Cab pick-up trucks, snowmobiles and other toys in the driveway to see that our soldiers are being paid very well indeed.
How they handle this money, unfortunately , is a completely different matter. I am sure many are doing well but other families have their priorities wrong and have bought houses, cars, tucks and other goodiess they can`t afford, and at the end of the month may have a hard time paying their bills. These folks need financial counselling, not handouts.
I am not a fan of Trudeau or his Liberal Government and I find there is enough about them to criticize – used Australian fighter jets, small business tax, returning ISIS soldiers and rich friends hiding money in off shore accounts – without sinking to this level of misrepresentation. When The Rebel makes up such obviously “fake news” it makes me question if anything on the site can be believed.
The issue of soldier pay has been near and dear to my heart throughout my 35 years of service but I felt that I had to set this straight and expose it for the BS it is.

Maybe some of our richer tax paid performers from CBC could come up with a few bucks to help our military people out. Peter Mansbridge (retired) Don Cherry and his goofy Coaches Corner sidekick have made lots of cash off the CBC taxpayer funded organ of the Liberal Party.
Totally misplaced objectives and sympathies when it comes to paying refugees more than our soldiers. Morally reprehensible.

MUTA WEEN..Maybe someone with some spare change will challenge Donny and Ronny to match them!!

Space Moose, those soldiers go through hell to maintain peace and if necessary risk their lives to protect our country and way of life. They see things people shouldn’t have to see and experience things people shouldn’t have to experience so none of us ever have to. I know a lot of Veterans, and the things you said kind of make me want to spit in your face on their behalf. Certain things are deontologically right no matter what their popularity at the time. Supporting those who risk or have risked their lives for you is the right thing to do. The underpaid employee at the pizza place isn’t risking their life at the most and peace of mind at the least for my benefit.

Do you see how wrong you are Space Moose? What is it like to be so completely wrong about something? :D

The average citizen and the average politician only thinks of veterans once a year – 11 Nov – the remainder of the time the average Canadian does not give a damn.

It shows.

Yet they support the same islamic federal government giving isis returnees free medical, dental, housing, food, clothing and poetry for rehabilitation.

They support the importation of more than a million killer islamics.

They support the financial support of countries that hate western culture.

All in the name of being “canadian”.

But their veterans?

Many sleep in the streets and many do indeed commit suicide – and as I stated – only once a year do they put on the fake “Thank you for your service” bull schitte.

The rest of the time veterans are invisible and treated like pariahs.

It is the new and very typical modern canadian way.

If you people knew how badly The Clown Prince of the Lieberal Party, Justin Mohammed Trudeaup treats our fighting men and women you would think they were stray dogs destined for euthanasia.

They are poorly (hastily ) trained, poorly outfitted, forced to use outdated equipment, poorly paid, the health benefits suck, and after they finished their career they are treated even worse. Your Lieberal government sends these kids out to fight ill equipped for the job at hand.

Yet, The Clown Prince of the Lieberal Party , Justin Mohammed Trudeaup can import 1000’s of his sand maggots and pay them to sit on their collective asses, and some of them plot to take over Canada

If it wasn’t for established Canadian military charities supporting these men and women they wouldn’t have anything.

Thank a Lieberal appropriately when you see one. Better yet, thank The Clown Prince when you see him.

Baby Doc has given more than $6,000,000,000 of our money to various dictatorships and despots, or to silly UN projects, but can’t find funds to pay our troops a decent living for the work they do to protect us and Baby Doc’s butt.

From having a surplus of $7.5 billion when he became the PM to borrowing over $40 billion a year, we have precious little benefiting Canadians. On the other hand, Baby Doc Trudeau’s generosity extends to paying for “refugees” still living in hotels, special menus for them, and more than 90% of them yet to find a job or learn the language on their social benefits cheques. Then there are the so-called entitlements the Liberals and our PM believe they are entitled to have.

No wonder our PM is the laughing stock of the world, and Canada is quickly drifting into both financial and moral bankruptcy. All hail our king without clothes.

Will the CBC report this, or will it protect its $1.2 billion dollar subsidy and not upset Canada’s own Crown Prince Baby Doc Trudeau The Dim?

Unfortunately “this news” is nothing new, this is happening for many years now, just until now no one cared.
When a high ranking special force, Navy Lieutenant with university degree, (not from the military) earns less than the painters in the BC Ferries, then something just not right. But not just the wages, but they working condition and equipment is going downhill quicker than Santa’s’ sled. And this is not getting better : “Liberals reject warship proposal that companies said would save taxpayers as much as $32B”,
“Canada scraps Boeing fighter jet deal, will buy used Australian F-18s instead” and the list is endless.
Military personals not allowed to complain, protest or go on strike.. not even talk about it.
They need a voice who fight for them,so they can fight for us on the front line.
We asking them to give they life for a country, who don’t give a damn about them.
