The UN is still banning our journalists from going to Marrakech, Morocco, to cover their big UN global warming conference. We’re still going anyway, even if we have to report from the outside of their barbed wire fences.
In the past week, we’ve collected more than 10,600 names on a petition to the UN, demanding that they end the blacklist of our reporters.
So I went to New York yesterday, and took the petition with me.
I gave it to Canada’s permanent mission to the UN.
This issue has been very much in the news:
To my pleasant surprise, Catherine McKenna, the environment minister, told the Financial Post that she would intervene on our behalf.
We’ll see. As of now, we’re still officially banned.
But I think we’re going to win this one.
In a way, we already have. WATCH and I’ll tell you why…
PS: We’re going to make the UN a major reporting beat from now on.
