A mother has been sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court for forcing her 17-year-old daughter to marry a man 16 years older than her. The mother, said to be from Birmingham, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
The daughter, at just age 13, became pregnant by the man who was 29 at the time. In the UK, that’s considered rape – but the mother considered this a "marriage contract". This is the kind of barbarism we’ve let fester in this country.
We know it’s happening. You know it’s happening. But did you know this is the first successful prosecution of its kind – ever? Judge Patrick Thomas said that the young girl had been "sold for her passport", after jurors were told she was tricked into flying to Pakistan. Her mother told her she’d receive an iPhone for her birthday if she simply went to the country, where she would ultimately be betrayed and forcefully married off.
Not all victims may have the means to come forward and prosecute whoever forced them into their marriage, but this is an evil we can stop. This is an evil that never had to be imported here, and it could be an evil we challenge not just in the UK, but on the world stage.
Despite being the first prosecution of its kind, though, forced marriage is actually extremely common in the UK. In 2016, there were 371 cases that involved victims under the age of 18. There were a further 497 cases involving victims between the ages of 18 and 25. The vast majority involved female victims, with around 20% of cases involving make victims.
And the stats show us where the problem’s coming from. All of the six highest volume focus countries in 2016’s statistics have either majority or large Muslim populations. These are the stats released by the Home Office:
In 2016, the FMU handled cases relating to 69 ‘focus’ countries which a victim was at risk of, or had already, been taken to in connection with a forced marriage.
The six highest volume countries in 2016 were:
• Pakistan - 612 cases (43%).
• Bangladesh - 121 cases (8%).
• India - 79 cases (6%).
• Somalia - 47 cases (3%).
• Afghanistan - 39 cases (3%).
• Saudi Arabia - 16 cases (1%)
The full figures show a similar theme:
Why are we allowing this evil? I think it’s a concoction of weakness, evil, and cowardice. The politically correct, left-wing foot soldiers are weak. They would never risk standing up and saying the wrong thing, because they know what their fellow foot soldiers would do to them.
The ideologues and puppet masters are pure evil. The Paradoxical Alliance between the left and Islamists – the big business Soros types and the Muslim Brotherhood front groups cannot be described as anything other than evil.
And the politicians are the cowards. They want an easy life, and are too scared to do anything their donors might not like. They’ll kick the can down the road, because they know their children won’t have to deal with the same problems that working class kids have to live with on a daily basis.
All the while, children are being gang raped, forced into marriage, and mutilated.
That is the legacy of 21st Century Britain. At least, so far.
