Ontario’s logo is getting a reboot and a new slogan will grace licence plates in the province. Normally, I’d oppose such needless spending, but given the status quo, I’m reluctantly supporting this effort.
The “Ontario: Yours to Discover” plate slogan will be replaced with “A Place to Grow” which is taken from the song that played at the Ontario pavilion during Expo ’67.
Naturally, the usual suspects are attacking the Ford PCs for replacing the current slogan, but that slogan was itself an ’80s replacement for the previous slogan of “Keep it Beautiful.”
And this new slogan is fitting if the Ford PCs stay the course and ignore the opposition and media party critics and actually make Ontario great again.
As for the provincial logo, that abomination has got to go, and I can forgive the province coughing up $89K for a redesign considering that the Liberals spent $219K for their logo redesign in 2006!
Maybe “Fiscal Conservatism: Dig it!” should have been the new plate slogan.
