From the moment he announced his run for leader of the PC Party, Doug Ford was clear that, unlike in the dark old days of Patrick Brown, the party would be accountable to the grassroots when it came to candidate nominations.
So what happened on Saturday?
A directive was issued by Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives that no fewer than 11 candidates would be appointed in various ridings.
What happened to being beholden to the grassroots? What happened to the democratic process?
Ford has publicly stated that due to the “mess” he inherited from the bumbling Brown and given that the election is less than two months away, the party had to move fast.
But, while these statements are undeniably true, democracy rushed is democracy denied, and now we learn that some of the appointed candidates are unapologetic Liberals!
Watch as I bring you a few cases that resemble the sort of rancid garbage that comes straight from the Patrick Brown playbook.
Ford needs to delete these appointments and let the people in these ridings decide who they want as their representatives.
