So Justin Trudeau fired his old Foreign Minister, Stephane Dion, famous for loving carbon taxes, naming his dog “Kyoto,” refusing to give up his French citizenship, and just generally annoying.
The idea was get along better with Donald Trump, I think. So Trudeau looked around his cabinet, and picked Chrystia Freeland.
Is that supposed to be an improvement? She’s up against Rex Tillerson, the former CEO of Exxon, the sixth largest company in the world. Nickname: “T-Rex.”
Let’s wish her luck — our country’s success depends on good relations with the U.S.
So Freeland is going down to the Inauguration. But hang on. What’s this?
The University-Rosedale Federal Liberal riding association put up a notice, on the actual Liberal Party of Canada website, that they will be protesting against Donald Trump, at an anti-inauguration rally in Toronto.
That is Chrystia Freeland’s team. That is her riding. That association? They’re her campaign workers. Freeland literally sent her campaign team to oppose Trump’s inauguration, while she was jetting down there with her fake smile.
I tweeted this news earlier today, and some grown-up somewhere realized how awful it was, and took it down from the Liberal Party of Canada’s official website.
No apology; no retraction; just wiped it out. Obviously we kept a copy of it.
No word either on whether or not Freeland’s team will still attend the protest, but just not advertise it so loudly.
